Dust is the original sin. It’s the embodiment of the knowledge of good and evil or basically just knowledge in general so it’s a stand for the Apple. That’s why people attract it when they’re older because they understand knowledge and thus good and evil. Angels are made of dust not the dust themselves which also acts as a neural network, connecting all minds together on subconscious level, which is the true form of God in this universe, basically life sprung from its own will through its own belief, which is just another way of saying God is dead, least for Phil. The Angel having the most knowledge called himself god and took over and called dust sin so none could challenge their claim pretty much the whole story in a nutshell
I don't know how much time others spend contemplating physics and the nature of our reality but I would say I focus on it quite often in my down time. I'm into the race for quantum supremacy and the possibility of one day through super computers creating a system that can exactly replicate the birth of our universe through the use of predictive algorithms and qubits of varying degrees of outcomes. I read these books when I was still in high school many years ago and don't know how well the movies follow... not to mention I was far less knowledgeable than I am today and maybe missed some things I couldn't wrap my head around. But one thing that really stood out to me in season 2 was the super computer. especially in the intro. it appears the supercomputer is the nexus of creation and the multiple parallel realities that exist... which in my mind kinda makes the physicist the creator albeit she seems unaware. Meaning these events constantly cycle over and over again. If Lyra is in fact Eve and Will is Adam then the supercomputer will inevitably create them again after it is recreated by another version of that physicist. It's like a mandelbraught of an infinitely repeating multiverse. all parallel realities begin and end with Lyra and Will resetting the timeline with them as the constant before the reality split in order for mankind to be given free will. So I believe this physicist essentially reset the clock with her supercomputer and that Will will find a universe devoid of life with which he and Lyra will populate. The angels themselves appear to be the very grid. they are made from the most fundamental and microscopic basis for atomic structure. just like the compass and the knife. If my theory is correct the angels are merely the automated process of a supercomputer set in motion. they ensure their own existance by replicating the events of the past over and over. It's not directly said through dialogue but I keep seeing this concept pop up outside of this series and yet no one says it outright. can't find one thing about it explicitly. it's all implicit. Truly amazing to see played out in such an amazing epic as Phillip Pullman's work. It's as though the conclusions of drawn from my search for truth are being validated by someone else who has given as much if not more thought to it. Unfortunately I tend not to believe in superposition even though the equation has led to some of our most amazing advances. I don't believe the equation was intended for duality but for predictive range of probable outcome for undetectable particles. regardless it is the basis for how we create qubits in quantum systems. I don't believe in superposition because of the collapse of the wave function upon measurement. I don't believe reality is different when unobserved. But in computer systems reality can be bent... for instance Pac man appears as two dimensional to the player but to Pac man he is a e dimensional being who exist in series of round world's. we know the programming tricks that make his character start at the other side of the screen but he cannot observe that in his reality. so who's to say we could do any better. anyway this thought got way off track but since there's no one else here I figured I'd fill some space lol. There are different dimensions so knowing that. We are supposedly able to see 3 dimension things as well as 2 and 1 dimensions but we can not see any dimensions that are higher then 3 so there is clearly more if not so much more that we can not see any understand. And if angels can see more than why are they usually portrayed as thinking and making decisions as if they were seeing the same as humans do? Does not make sense. Plus once AI becomes self aware and takes over all of our jobs, the only way to survive and compete with AI is to get computer implants ourselves so we can move and think faster and smarter as they do. Then we will figure out more of the mysteries of our world.
Title says Angela and dust explained but the video doesn't do that. It's reiteration and speculation to a total that does not add up (because it does not in the books either). I think, Pullman made a mistake in explaining dust too much and likening it to angels, making the concept fragile rather than keeping it simply mysterious/open. Book 1 establishes Dust as matter attracted to consciousness, as aware of what happens in the world and at least to some degree able to predict future events. Book 2 establishes dust as the same as angels, affirms knowledge of future events, establishes a definite specific will/interest when communicating with Lyra and Dr Malone as well as the church with their alethiometers. Book 3 introduces angel classes and individual angels that are able to communicate with some other angels over distances and worlds but not just any. It then separated the idea of dust and angels again in the way it functions around portals (angels use them, dust just vanishes through them) From an obscure seemingly all-knowing power, it went to a consciousness with an objective, to many individuals with completely opposite objectives to quite separate concepts. That opens up questions about plot (devices) that could have been avoided with more vagueness or by simply never identifying dust as angels. IMO, it was a "mistake" making angels so human. We have no concept of how (spiritual) beings millions of years old would be but they care about and act pretty much the same as us is done way too often. The army of Metatron (and maybe the Authority) had their own plans that were entirely independent of that of the rebel angels and through them Asriel. We learn very little about what they want. And what in fact would happen to them if dust really got diminished excessively. Daemons (why are they named this way in a story dealing with angels?) are also an obscure concept that does not entirely just translates to people's Soul. That's OK. It only problematic if it is said to be something that then is incoherent.
If you know a little bit of theology you can understand better this story. Search about the hierarchy and you will find that not just exists angels into the hierarchy. There are angels, cherubs, seraphim etc and every one of them have their funtion.
The way spoilers are handled in all these clips is suboptimal. Usually in the end it contains spoilers anyways even though they mention a lot they don't want to spoiler. So maybe just say to watch all the videos only after watching the end of the show or books and then make another video that is completely free of spoilers
