8:09 that Rider in the video is me, I definitely could have done a much better job at using the brakes effectively, during this time I was still trying to get used to putting at least one finger over my brake lever for this specific reason, part of me wishes that I didn't take that unnecessary second to look at my right side mirror as nothing was on my right (because I ride on the left side of the road in Japan) could have definitely saved me from that driver as well as braking earlier. Thank you for your tips and input on this situation, I'll definitely take everything you've said about this situation and apply it to my daily ride.
if you're living in Japan, you should probably learn to read what 追突注意 means...
@@g_rr_tt I'm a Japanese national, I'm aware of what it means, that was not a rear end collision
What helped me was this...when I was approaching a car in another lane I would anticipate the driver turning into me or swerving quickly to avoid an animal. I already had a plan and I kept my distance until I had more options to pass safely. I never pass a vehicle in the left lane. (Almost never). When I first started riding when god was still a private I would be mentally exhausted at the end of the ride when I got home. Exhausted from doing g all the right things. Now it comes natural without effort.takes time and mistakes you survive to become a good driver that can avoid the dumb stuff

Very bad idea to disregard stop signs and pretend you can all proceed as a group.
But they are on a group ride. All laws cease to exist within 10 miles of their route as long as they stay in a group. lol
1% clubs own the road so stop signs are for other motorists to get out of the way.
I didn't even see her turn her head to see if it was clear.
@thomasbrovont4114 Yeah any cop that sees them is required to ignore the current emergency to provide an escort. Is that not common knowledge?
Idiots who think they own the road are why I have bullbars on my Land Rover. I never ride in groups. I learned when I worked in the motorcycle trade and only had one day off a week I didn't want to spend that day in the accident and emergency just because some tit couldn't ride properly.
you know what's funny? My rider coach is a die hard harley guy and owns quite a few of them but he literally told all of us during our range is that beginners, first time ever on a motorcycle, rides way better than the harley boys that come to his dealership because none of them can do low speed maneuvers on the range

Most Harley riders can’t ride because Harley’s are straight line machines and America is huge with elaborate system of large high speed straight highways.
I'm pretty sure the American license is a joke in comparison to what you need to go through to pass in Europe.
As someone who used to ride in the city, that Harley guy had it coming. Cars are INCREDIBLY unpredictable, ESPECIALLY Taxi's. They are notorious for stopping short or in the middle of the road. You NEED to keep your eyes on the road and constantly moving.
Stopping short in NYC....Frank Costanza doesn't like when someone uses his move. 😜

@ 4:06 they tried to turn right. They moved the handle bars right and give it gas, but not enough.
They should have turned the handle bars left, to turn right.
Dan is correct, a couple hours in a parking lot with slow maneuvers would have made this simple turn, reflex, thoughtless.
Appreciate your videos, I think watching your content has made me a less road rager and enjoy the rides, new to riding only got a year in but these vids help out a lot. Appreciate you homie.
No disrespect to anyone but some people have no business being on a bike. It definitely ain’t for everyone
I think about anybody can learn to be a good rider and have the correct attitude, but pride gets better of people, man.
Take that French rider for example. He can see hazards developing miles away, yet chooses to put himself in danger and then gets angry about it.
Most of these could be avoided by appropriate speed alone.
@@NobleNoob356 i thought the same thing too
Nah, disrespect to all of them shit riders
I agree with you but the difference is I mean it disrespectfully. If you can’t take your time to actually learn how to be a rider… then don’t ride. Impatience/ignorance will get you killed.
Metric riders typically tend to overestimate their own skill on their bikes.
Harley riders typically tend to over estimate the capabilities of their bike before they even have a chance to overestimate their own skill.
Most my friends ride sketchy old-school choppers. Most of us are on bikes that are skinny and long and only have a rear brake. I’ve never known safer riders, then again, they have to be super safe by default with that kind of setup haha
Only a rear brake? Wtf? How is that even allowed?
Because AMERICA lmao
@@wss33 Oh it is definitely perfectly legal, at least here in the United States, just not for the careless. My 77 CB750 (836cc kit) chop is a long rigid framed, and rigid fork (it's an old school thing and yes they have some flexibility) rolling piece of personal mechanical art.
I am only running a mechanical drum brake at the rear. After lots of experience and having common sense I just cruise and chill, smiling for miles. I would even say that such setups can force one to become a better and safer rider.

Changing the tyre sizes and profiles from stock will make the bike handling change too. I bought a bike that had the wrong profile on the front tyre and it ran wide on corners. When I replaced the front tyre with one with the correct size and profile the handling came right.
Many riders put bigger tyres on the back because they think it looks cool and then have a bike with tyres that fight each other in corners.
The factories put a lot of time and effort in selecting tyre sizes and profiles that suit the bike. Another time a shop put the wrong tyre on because they had one that is the right size on the shelf. Always ensure that you have the correct tyres for your bike and don't change them unless you really know what you are doing.
What do you mean when you say profile?
@@ronaldoleon48shape of tire
Every motorcycle that I've bought with the wrong size tires on it(they're always too big) has handled terribly. People like the look for some reason but they handle so much better with the stock size tires.
You say that but my 07 CBR125R was 10mm up on the front and back and I was scraping the footpeg in corners. Never had any issues.
I went up from 55 to 60 on the rear on my mt09 and I get more responsive turning. Came from a suggestion from a yamaha engineer and it was fantastic
I started riding in 1972 on a Yamaha 80. Then a Kawasaki 175, Honda 250, 1978 Kawasaki KZ 1000 LTD, 2005 HD Fat Boy. Still riding and haven’t gone down since 1979. I don’t think you can make a rider experience determination based on bike type. I can tell within 5 mins on the skill level of any rider by watching how they move their head in turns. Control your speed extended your life. Slow down and begin to enjoy the ride and eliminate destination fixation. It’s the ride not the destination that is why we ride.
As an older rider who rode and raced dirt bikes for decades, I eventually switched over to street bikes, a Yamaha Super Tenere and Kawasaki Voyager. I took a 3-day class which helps you get your permit/license and a couple days of skills building. They put you through situations and help build your skills. I have since taken advanced classes they offered. I’ve been a street rider for ~5 years now. I believe riding dirt bikes has helped with my street bike riding, I’ve always been a ATGATT type of rider, asphalt is like sand paper, it’s very abrasive more so than dirt. Just my .02 on riding, situational training, and situational awareness is invaluable out on the street plus not riding out of your skill level.
All competent road riders learnt on dirt bikes, including all bike racers …
Agree 100%. I tell all would be riders to start on a dirt bike, or at least a “supermoto” like a DR400 or smaller before they get into serious street riding. Dirt bike skills translate very well to the street, (although there will be some new skills to master on the street).
You learn not only what to do in sketchy situations but much more importantly to trust that it will work and not panic. I have ridden dirt bikes for a long time but don't have much desire to drive with cars on public roads, I guess a heavy roadbike is a different way more dangerous type of fun...@@ma3stro681
@@ma3stro681 bike racers learn on dirt bikes so they can learn how to control the rear tire in slides
Most good riders learn and most probably still practise on trail bikes (as well as mountain bikes) so they know how to recover both front and rear loss of grip from dirt, oil, gravel, leaves, etc.

The bike is bouncing because he’s not countersteering. He’s steering in the wrong direction because he doesn’t understand how countersteering works. Very common when training new riders.
How does one countersteer?
@@John_Buck turn handlebars opposite of where you want to go. Turning right? Push the right handlebar forward and lean into the turn. Short saying: push right, lean right, go right. Same applies to the left.
@@ryantanzi5308 Thank you
Counter-steering props the bike upright and you time it to get back on the turn. The first thing to remember is to point your head into the line of your turn, it makes sense to not just keep your eyes rotated in the direction of the intersecting road line, your sense of balance is in the ears. Turn your eyes with your head like an Owl. The second thing is the handlebars can recapture the balance of your bike without penalty if you practice the counter-leaning moment: point your head, and turn the bars in that moment back in the direction your head is aimed at. It's best practised on a cheap light bike in a car park at slow speeds, doing figure eights and counting out the parking spaces you want to complete a turn within. Slow speeds are hard in themselves but a lot safer than losing traction on loose soil or gravel scattered over your bitumen turning apex at speed.
@@santyclause8034 No my man you’re a little confused. Countersteering doesn’t necessarily stand the bike up, it can also produce more lean. It does both, but you have to understand how to countersteer to know which way the bike will want to go.
probably on the late end, but for 11:39 130km/h is 80MPH, which would be very fast in the majority of countries even in europe, most countries have speed limits set at 120. this video was almost certainly in germany though, where many highways dont have speed limits.

Most of today's (99%)Harley riders don't have to know how to ride a bike that never runs. Once a year the stars align and it actually starts, they go for the anual ride (fully dressed like a true bad a mofo though), they either crash, think they're going to crash or drop it in the driveway then go back to the garage and park it. While it rests for 11 months they order new accessories to bolt on top of the unreported crash damage, during this stage it's mandatory to answer any questions about the motorcycle with "I'm just upgrading some parts for next season and it's torn down right now". Every now and then they will talk to a real bike commuter, traveling bike packer or active club rider and carry on about how they've had it for 5-10-or 20 years and it's cherry perfect. They never tell you about the 100,000 miles a metric cruiser or sport touring guy would talk about, they won't tell you about the amazing corners before they laid it down like sport bike guys do, they won't even admit it's broke and their on their 3rd engine in 3 years like the 1% Harley Rider that rides would. I thought this was common knowledge of Harley riders.
Probably don't even ride. Where'd you copy and paste that from?
@@kenster007 I liked your reply more the first way before your edited it. I copied and pasted it from my own observations as a riding coach and mandatory rider training mentor during my time in the service. Service members are required to take training annually or bi annually to ride on base depending on branch. Those are the literal truths of most Harley owners that came in. They looked just as bad riding the the erc course their 5th year as they did the day they passed brc years previously. The commuters (that's how I would describe most of my riding background btw since you asked) would have miles, worn tires and obvious wear on dirty bikes, not typically Harley's, usually metric cruisers for the older guys and small sports bikes for the younger and their stories align with that truth. Occasionally we would get the true sport bike bro that needed a swift correction for trying to stunt on course between drills. The "chiefs" would fit the 99% Harley Rider demographic and usually had a single super cool picture of it on the side of the highway somewhere posing for a picture on their desk, different saddle bags, bar ends and mirrors every year, but still low enough miles to be on the original stupid HD logo Michelin tires... Their low speed control was typically awful. This doesn't hit home with you does it?
Definitely some truth to that. My 2 current bikes are someone else's mid life crisis purchase, one had 102 miles on it in 3 years. Also a vet and had to do some crazy riding to get my base stickers-all good though. To be fair though, it is not just HD owners. One neighbor has a Japanese bike that he starts and revs the hell out of after he cleans the carb. The other one has a V-Rod that he washes once a year. In my 45 years of riding I have over 100k miles, some out of necessity but mostly pleasure now. I live in Denver and if the road is clear I will ride. The stigma is hard to shake for all classes of riders. Be safe out there brother. @@john58ford

The weight of it shifting, the feeling of the steering, you can feel it when you ride. Feeling that and not overthinking it is the best way I've found to ride. I enjoy the ride a lot more too
Accelerating through a corner stands the bike up. Standing the bike up reduces the lean angle which reduces the ability to turn. If they needed to accelerate through the turn they shouldve pushed harder on their left bar to keep their lean angle

I can't believe how much terrible riding is in here. I never see stuff like this here in the UK - you can't get out on the road here without having some training, and the bike tests are far harder than they used to be.
I would bet that at least half of the riders in this video don't have a motorcycle endorsement. It more common than people think.
I’ve had around a dozen bikes, most of them motocross. When I got my Harley in the 90’s I was shocked how few riders knew how to handle a bike in a dicey situation. Always ride like you are the target. Plan ahead. Wear the best safety gear… I also spent around 15,000 hours in jet helicopters. When things go wrong there… well let’s just say the pucker factor increases exponentially ;)
130kmph btw is the maximum speed allowed on dutch freeways between 7PM and 6AM
On braking, I've never been on a motorcycle, but I've ridden a LOT of 3 and 4 wheelers, and I'm used to the rear brake doing F-all jack shit nothing so I never use it anyway, and the one time I did it pushes down so far I caught my foot between the pedal and a rock going downhill and almost lost my foot, so no worries about me stomping the rear brake lol.
pretty sure that guy on the harley was a front tire wash out. but yes progressive braking and a quick swerve to the right wouldve saved his day
Flintstoning is for braking with snow on the road. You can supply a decent amount of force while your feet still slide.

I started riding at 6 years old on a mini bike. I'm now 44 and still ride. It amazes me how bad a ton of riders are. people just go buy a bike and go. it's crazy.
I completely agree, i’ve been riding since i was 13, now im 48. i see so many people with no riding experience buy an intermediate motorcycle and just jump on it and squeeze the hell out of the throttle then crash and wonder what happened, i keep telling new riders, Knowing how to operate a motorcycle is not the same as knowing how to ride

Love this channel. A lot of the line of sight reasonings i learned riding brakeless pedal bikes in NYC. Then the newer road tactics Ive learned on motorcycles transferred to car driving. Never stop learning and transferring those tactics to other facets of life.
hehe, yeah I am currently learning on a motorized pedal bike with no brakes. I go skiing quite often, since the shoes skis are my also my brakes.
Haha, riding a brakeless bicycle taught me how to drive better too. I learned how to moderate my speed and anticipate things ahead as far as I can see. That was the biggest game changer I had for overall driving both cars and motorcycles.
I learned how to foot break too, but that doesn't translate to driving at all.
Any who, I always say the best way to fix traffic would be to take away people's breaks. Then, people would see everything around them instead of just three feet around their vehicle.
I barely use my brakes on my motorcycle. Like 95% engine breaking and really only use my brakes at stops and slow speed maneuvering with my rear through parking lots. I understand how to pace in traffic and avoid bad scenarios miles ahead.
Haha, most of my good driving habits came from riding that shitty bicycle that had no breaks.

Out of all the videos you showed, one Harley... I'm beginning to think sport bike riders can't ride.
It isn't just Harley Riders, I live in Upstate NY I see young men buy Super Sports and have no Idea what kind of power they have under their ass and lack of skills to match. Most of them sadly get badly injured for life or are killed. Take your Basic safety course then learn to ride in emergency situations threw more advanced courses, learn to use the sixth sense in your gut. Every time you get on your bike never let your Mind wonder be very disciplined, or Don't ride, your life depends on it.
Most of these videos on these motorcycle channels the rider is either speeding or driving recklessly, and then the idiot riders blame the drivers of the cars. Nope it was your fault. This one of the many reasons most people consider motorcycle riders to be douchebags.
All those riders in the beginning fucked up because they didn't stop at a fucking stop sign! If you want drivers to "look out" for you, how about you follow the laws first and look out for yourself? I've yet to meet a biker who gives bikers a good name
I was gonna argue, then I remembered I've hit two deer, a dog, and a C-RV.

@@geddstock tons of vids of you scallywags not able to ride either. You tried though. Failed but gave it a good try
Riding above skill level attempting to keep up with others who are hoonagining.
been riding dirt bikes for a couple of years now, a lot of these riding issues I feel can be worked out with learning on that first. If you fall it's no big deal its meant for it. Clutch control, throttle control, brake control all are on par what they should be because of my dirt biking experience. learning on a 800lb bike at the moment.
Driving on the wrong side of the road and running a stop sign is always a great idea. Makes other people on the road love you too. Bikers generate their own bad press.
Bad rider is a bad rider. Doesnt matter the bike
Harley riders are just posers
Most of this channel's crashes are from sportbikes tho...
You saw your girl on the back of another guy's Harley again, didn't you? 😅
@@HowellDiesel 🤣🤣🤣🤣
You just exposed yourself. 🤡
South Park called it perfectly.
What I’ve noticed in the States is would appear you’re allowed to under take? This is so dangerous, it’s illegal here in the uk unless it’s in slow moving traffic!!
Indeed, it's not as if Mrs Lane hog Range Rover driver is going to look before deciding she's going to change lanes!
It's not that they can't ride. It is more accurate to say that they souldn't
15:36 when Harley crasch tools self deploy. It is a great feature. You can just fix it and carry on.
title is too real 😂
IMO Harley guys are already behind the 8-ball with big curb weights, which transfers to longer braking distances, throw in some relaxed geometry and there you have it, my Never Ride.
these videos are very entertaining and informative. i want to get a motorcycle so bad if only it didnt cost so much for a good bike and good full gear
Get a cheap dirt bike and learn to ride off road first. This will take you years …
I have the best-gear and it cost less than 150 all-up . Buy as-new secondhand , it takes a bit longer to find the bargains but they are out there and girls-gear in the right-size is cheap compared to guys-stuff . It's not like it has girl written on it ! Dave nz
wut are you trying to ride? a H2 or Road glide? you can easily find a 400, 500 sport bike or 700, 900, crusier for $2,500 to $3,500 as a starter bike, infact if u really look and just want a starter you probably can even find like an old nighthawk or LTD, for $900 - $1,500, infact i got my tires changed last week on my bike and when i was at the shop they had a 89 honda hurricane for $1,200
5:56 If you're going to drive really close to cars on your bike you can't complain when they also drive really close. A modicum of patience would've helped him avoid this.
24:05 Driving on the left so likely Australia. Foot can mean pass. Hand is simply slow down. Rider in front is on CB125 on L's so not very experienced. Presume rider with camera is also on a cb125 and those bikes just fall over because the tyres on them are crap.
When I took the Returning Rider course with MSF, most of the class was HD club riders who had been "ridin' 20 years" or more, club riders (aka bar to bar drags). They were all in the class because my state just jacked the penalty for riding without CY endorsement to the moon (big fine, lose license, impound bike on the spot) so all these guys that had been riding like that for decades decided to spend the 5 hours and $50 to get the stamp.
They were all TERRIBLE riders. I had gotten my first bike in 30 years just a few weeks prior, did some parking lot time, and was way more skilled than these guys that "ride every weekend" - but I must say that they all got FANTASTICALLY better in the 5 hours we spent on the range. Just goes to show that if they put ANY effort into it they could improve their skills immensely.
wow John Ridley you are so cool and so much better than those "Harley" "riders" l m a o!! Did you go home and tell your wife for instant sexual cautious as a reward for your display of macho?
At 9.07 the black SUV had slowed right down with nothing on his left side to turn into. It should set off alarm bells to you when you see something like that. If you ride or drive enough you'll see this several times. Someone just about misses their turn and will cut across lanes to take it.
Sadly some Harley riders have no knowledge on how to use a clutch ... $35 license, + $20k bike and $0 in lessons.
Do you know what a Harley looks like? Clickbait's stink... Unsubscribed.
👋
Wonderful ststement Dan, Police Officers do not know how to deescalate or roll with a situation.
11:10 the guy in the car passed the motorcycle in the motorcycles lane
Why would anyone ride on an ice-patched road?? That is crazy!
And not wearing proper gear ?? What a clown 🤡😵☠️
They're all a bunch of Noobs!!!😂
People go full stupid when group riding!
