This is the first video I've seen which accurately shows how to do this. It made clear that the method for REMOVING the car cover is just as important as putting it back on. Thanks for this.

I especially appreciate how you included the stopwatch to show how little it took you to do both activities. I recently moved into a place where I will have to regularly put on a car cover and was dreading how long and painful it would be to do so, until I saw it would actually take less than a minute. I have tested it myself and am quite relieved at how much easier this actually is than I thought. Thank you so much for taking the time to film this.

I just had to comment on your video!! I’m 4”11 and have a bad back, my car is parked under a load of trees and is white!! Need I say more, lol. So I was very troubled with how I was going to do this by myself. I turned to the videos and yours was the third one and the BEST one!! WORKS like a charm!!! Thank you so much!!!

You explained everything well. The only thing I have trouble with is taking the cover off in windy, Gusty conditions without it landing on the ground? I use gust straps to secure it during the Day. I cover my car in the asphalt parking lot at work & before I leave, 90% of the time I have to deal with the wind, mostly unsuccessfully & part of my cover lands on the asphalt, picking up sand & gravel segments. Not fun!

Very handy for hardtop convertibles if you don't want to keep closing the roof. Do note that you have to have it inside a garage to keep it safe if you wish to keep the roof open under the cover. Do make sure you have purged it from insects and that wildlife as well as cats have no access to it. Alternatively there's car covers that secure well and snug on specific car models. In my experience as long as I drive the car every day or every two days no bugs will actually end up inside as long as it is parked in the garage.

I put it on in the rain if I need to. It will dry out in a very quickly. Best way to dry it out is on the car. Sure, it might get the car a little dirty, but I just use waterless car wash/spray and a microfiber towel to clean it up on occasion if I need to.

I can see this being a problem in an area where it rains a lot. I'm in a location where there is very little rain. I check the weather for the week and usually leave the cover off if there's rain the following day. When the rain passes, I wash the car, and the car cover goes back on.

Out of all of the C7 Corvette car covers, which one to find best repels water and most importantly doesn’t scratch the paint?

    • @DarkStoneCastle
      @DarkStoneCastle  4 года назад

Hello, I can't say as I've only used 2 covers out of 100's you can get for the Corvette C7. The two I have don't scratch the paint and they, along with most covers, 'repel' light rain, but not the heavy stuff. I don't think any heavy covers totally repel hard rain, and that's fine with me. There are many occasions I put the cover on while the car is wet and it evaporates through the cover. If it was 100% waterproof, you couldn't do that, water would be trapped under the cover.

This is pretty good, and I agree that keeping the outside from touching the inside is the best. I also like your idea of using the plastic bin for storage in case the cover is wet, that's a great idea!
However, I personally like the method that's shifted 90 degrees from this method and keeps the cover on the mirrors until the very end.
You start from the back and fold the cover up to the mirrors, fold 1.
Then again from the back windshield fold up to the mirrors, fold 2.
At this point the front of the car is still covered, the mirrors are holding the car cover in place, and the back half of the cover is folded twice and on top of the car and about 2 feet wide leaving the back half of the car exposed.
Undo the front and fold up to the mirrors, but not on top of the folds from the back, fold 3.
Then again from the front windshield fold up to the mirrors on top of the previous fold but not on top of the folds from the back, fold 4
At this point you have the same folds from the back and the folds from the front basically on the top of the front windshield with the cover over the mirrors helping keep the cover in place in case its windy.
Remove the cover from the mirrors, and flip the front half onto the rear half, fold 5.
From the passenger side, standing behind the cover and looking towards the front of the car, take your left forearm and hold the cover down at the top of the passenger door and use you right hand to lift and flip the cover onto the roof, fold 6.
Stay on the passenger side and roll the cover into a nice little 2 foot wide burrito.
When finished you should be looking at the driver's side built in grommet for the tie strap that goes under the car.
    Installation is basically the reverse.
Start on the driver's side and unroll the cover until the cover is almost touching the ground at your feet.
Go to the passenger side and unflip.
Unfold the front from the rear and go ahead and put the cover over the mirrors to hold it in place.
Unfold to the front, Unfold to the rear, done.
If the car is hot or just recently driven (and hopefully still clean), don't cover the exhaust tips as they will melt the cover, and I keep the radiator exposed to let heat out. After about 30 minutes to an hour, pull the cover all the way down.
