I have to disagree on the title Bry, Id take a swirled out or marred clear coat from a car cover anytime over oxidized/uv sun damaged clear coat due to not having a cover at all. In short id still go for the cover jmho.
The Pontiac was amazing when she first rolled out of the assembly line and she is dripping with gloss now. Thank you for all of the knowledge you share with us and I truly appreciate it.
My case for using a cover is 1. I have a black car 2. My paint is already swirly as I am second owner and the car is 12 years old 3. I am more concerned with the clear coat failing from the brutal sun. (the near perfect headlight lenses when I got the car already started oxidizing) Until I get an in-door garage, I will keep my car under the sheets.
WOW! Talk about soft paint !!!!!!!! a polishing combo leaving hazing! wooah! that extra step you took to get the gloss and clear the hazed up look ,sure went a long way to prep for Your Great Coating! Came out Awesome !!!! i miss the Pontiac line !
Totally agree about car covers. I used a cheap one during spring time to protect 20 year old Jaguar paint that was being stained by blossom tree petals. Wish I never bothered. The seams on the cover really do marr the paint. Any time there was a slight breeze blowing I'm sure I could hear the car groaning in pain.
Put a soft indoor cover on, then the cheap out door water proof cover. The outdoor cover will slide over the inner cover, and not the paint. Shoes without socks, give you blisters.
Excellent tip on not spraying a panel prep directly on a panel after a polishing set! I did actually fine my panel prep more troublesome to use when i used it right after yesterday on my re-sprayed 2 car doors. Usually i would polish a whole panel before i use panel prep but to reduce steps i will try spraying it into the towel. I might be polishing my other 2 doors today while the weather is good!
3 golden rules for car covers: 1) Get one with a soft fleece interior 2) Clean car thoroughly before putting a cover on 3) clean cover thoroughly before putting the cover on. Even then, its really hard to not get any dirt between the cover and car, and some damage in inevitable. When your only choice it to park under a tree, and you need to have the car there over winter, a cover is still worth it.
Rule 0 that comes before all rules: 0. Don't use a car cover at any time, indoors or outdoors. Apply a ceramic coating (or whatever new stuff they got out these days) after a decent paint correction and try to keep it away from the sun.

The 60 degree angle is best employed on mid gloss samples measuring between 10 and 70 gloss units. High gloss surfaces which measure above 70 gloss units should be assessed using the 20 degree angle.
For anyone measuring at 60 degrees are getting a higher gloss unit readings making their correction skills look better than they actually are. The 20 degree reading will show a more accurate and lower gloss unit. (a true measurement so to speak)
And the higher end accurate units that are worth thousands will have haze percentage and reflectance percentage allowing you to work on refining the paint for even better results.

Car covers could put detailers out of business

Great video brian!!!
Very nice!😎
EPIC!
It is surprising what damage car covers can do to a vehicle's paint. Now, I've just got to think of some way to recycle my extra large sedan car cover into an alternative use ! Thank you for the warning and the great video. The Pontiac looks awesome !
Poncho time
What size backing plate and what size pads
Another great video
Great video buddy that's a bad ride tfs
This video is not about "Here is why" car covers should not be used (other than "I don't recommend"). Rather it is about how to make a car look beautiful.
On softer paint is your arm speed faster than if it was on harder paint?
Slightly faster...yes.
Brian, do you have time for a quick call? I’m installing your product to 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and have a question.
Absolutely.
Yeh but protects against water spots and bird shit which is worse right?
I thought that turn around was great. Brian the auto surgeon.
