    Btw - I absolutely luv that "floating wall" in the master bedroom .to creatively separate out the new bath/shower/wardrobe area, without interrupting the beautiful barrel-vaulted ceiling above. While at the same time, creating a wall to act as the headboard for the bed. So many creating detailing option I can imagine, to finish-off ther master suite !!,

    Having been in the remodeling business. 1) Whatever is quoted- expect your man to attempt to triple it. 2) Contractors normally take on too many projects. They will hop from job to job. 3)You can expect completion to take 3X as long Unless you pay as things get done and not upfront that much. 4) hire a local supervisor and tell him for every dollar he saves you he gets 30%. He will get an X$ Bonus if he can keep close to the schedule.

      Brilliant idea. questions. How do you go about finding an intermediary? Are they likely to speak English? How do you decide what a saving is?
      Many thanks - great idea btw.

    Ciao Dauvo, Great, great video. Thank you. I recently heard that Italy discontinued or dramatically reduced the eco bonus program reimbursements. Do you know where that stands currently? I have heard many who already commenced renovations and made commitments are very upset and disappointed. I hope this doesn't negatively impact you or this woman's project.

    The floating wall is gorgeous, I find westerners usually Americans and British very stuck in conventional thinking. Houses and layout outside what they are used to is hard for them. But you are moving to a new country with the way they do things. Esp toilets near or next to kitchen, bidets etc but overall well done on the house

    • @DauvO
      @DauvO  2 года назад +3

      I like the floating wall too. It is sometimes hard to break out of what seems normal. Random somewhat related side note...I have renters that wanted me to remove the bidet from the bathroom because they came from a culture that didn't use it.

    I'm seriously looking into the 1 Euro home and then come here and it's suddenly a 160,000 euro home. I wish I had money to burn (she obviously does as she's flying over every month at present), but I don't and that's a ridiculous sum of money given that the reason properties are supposed to be so cheap there is because, they are in towns that are dying and don't have great facilities. Each to their own, but this really shows the lie of the 1 Euro home dream.

    • @josephweisman7981
      @josephweisman7981 Год назад

      ...well she lives in down town Chicago, where you can't even hardly get a kitchen remodel for that much. Look > she got the €1 part of the house at auction for 5k, and bought the Private Sell adjacent house for cheap, and is making it her "dream home". What's so wrong and misleading about that? And besides she's bringing lots of money to the local craftsman, building material suppliers, custom door & window producers. Capito' ... "get a life"

    • @SilverfoxJB
      @SilverfoxJB Год назад

You can buy your holidays house and rent it the rest of the time to cover some of the running expenses. In the long run you may apply for an elective residency if you wish to retire there. In order to obtain an elective residency, you need to provide evidence of your income every year, and owning a property is definitely an advantage.
