As an opinion, I always thought that Dan and Serena is perfect for each other. People complaining about how Dan almost ended up being with Blair and has almost chosen Blair over Serena? No one remembers when Serena always chose to be with the wrong guy than being with Dan. Let me flashback your memory.. remember Aaron? When Dan and Serena broke up she kinda dated Aaron? But before that happened, Dan asked Serena about giving their relationship another start or 2nd chance but instead of Serena listening to Dan and what he's about to say, she suddenly interrupted and brought up Aaron and explained how she already knew him way back they're just kids? She dated Aaron but he turns out to be someone who's not into a serious relationship. Then who can forget that scene with Colin? When Serena thought that Colin was not the one, she goes back to Dan, and invited him to go to Lincoln center fountain together.. Then Colin showed up again saying he quit being a professor and chose Serena, and kissed her. And Dan? He stood there watching them. Then when things between her and Colin finally ended up, he called again Dan and Dan to the rescue showed up- ended up seeing Serena and Nate talking. Then again, Dan was standing there, waiting for Serena to finally choose him over Nate or everyone else. Serena with all these guys.. and Dan? She always leaves him hanging, like waiting on a list, always waiting for his turn to be with Serena. But when Dan saw Blaire... everyone's saying that it is unfair for him to do that to Serena. Serena always chooses the wrong guy and every time she fails she goes back to Dan and Dan is always there for her, never doubted, always believed her. Serena always runs away with wrong guys. But when Dan messes up with Blair, everyone thought he only chose Serena because Blair already chose Chuck. They both have their own flaws, many flaws with other people. But look at them. They meant to be together. In the end, they always find a way to get back to each other. After all heart breaks, it's still them in the end. Cause what they have is love, and is always there never changed.
You know the first time I watched the show I literally skipped half the fifth season when Dan and Blair started dating and then just watched season 6 because I knew they would end up together…so when people said stuff I tried to defend as much as I could but then I watched it again the second time and started to not like the idea of them ending up together because of how they made dan and Blair’s relationship…so thank you and this is totally as a show fan not some obsessed teen who only focuses on these

Though his good side remained he was restricted from being his original self when in company of the upper class... I think the reason Dan became so well bad in other seasons was because he wanted to become apart of a world where that is a prerequisite. Watching him devolve into someone who could fight for Serena in her world.

Many people complained about the end of game of thrones, but what about the end of gossip girl? Serena and Dan get married after 5 years !!! WTF! And how was the marriage proposal? Did Dan keep writing? Serena also became a writer? Many gaps. The librettists, they finished the series of eagerness, they did not think much, right? The series and its characters deserved a better explained ending.
Why? Serena never loved Nate and they were together only for a few episodes. Dan and Serena were endgame from the first episodes, yes writers ruined them but still it was always clear they will end together.

I agree. It was devastating seeing him go from looking up to his father to looking down on him and instead following in Bart Bass' footsteps.
