- This is my install and review of the Sylvania 3157 LED replacement bulbs for my 2016 Jeep Wrangler. I was surprised at the way this turned out. P.S. Sorry for the bad sound it was very windy during this.
You just saved me some money and hassle with your review. Thanks! Go Steelers!
I bought same bulbs for my dodge 1500 and they were a disappointment. I returned them and ordered LASFIT LEDs from ebay and boy are they bright you should try them you wont regret it
The 3157 is a dual filament bulb usually used for the tail/brake light because of the different lumens on each filament. For example the tail light filament will be appear dimmer (38 lumens) then the brake light filament (402 lumens). You might have better result with the 3156 which is a single filament (402 lumens) typically used for backup lights.
Wow I didn't expect the LEDs to be dimmer. Cool vid!
I have a pair of Sylvania ZEVO white LEDs in my Chevy Cruze in place of the stock filament bulbs In my reverse lights. They were actually brighter than the original bulbs. I also have the same kind of LEDs that you purchased in my brake lights, but they’re in red for that particular purpose. They perform very well since the light makes good contact with with the reflectors in my tail light housings.
I always go for sylvania zevo and always recommend to others, that something that’s instant on and instant on, or pure red compliant color, and longer lifespan. And a little brighter than stock.
Thanks! You saved my money from being wasted.
Hi John check out my new video and the new 3157s I tried. ruclips.net/video/Yum70veXN1U/видео.html
For the comments about the wrong bulb. Jk's call for the duel filiment bulb as a reverse light. This is very common in Chrysler products. The socket typically only powers the higher wattage filiment of the duel filiment of bulb in this type of application.
I put the Sylvania just to match all my other LED lights lic plate, cab light, interior lights. Dont really care if they are bright or not. Underneath the truck I have two 3 inch pod led spot/flood lights that light up like low beam head lights and can see anything beside and behind me with no problems. All vehicles the reverse light are useless no matter how much you mod it up. With pod lights you can angle them up down and side to side. On a road the person behind you will know you are in reverse in case of a emergency situation. Wired them in to my seven pin trailer plug. So you want light check into 3 inch LED pod lights for reverse,
After lookin at this video again. I just realize, why are u using the 3157W led bulbs as a reverse light?
3157 is design for dual function. And u only two led on each row around the led bulbs.
If u switch to 3156, u will be able to use all 3 row around the led bulbs and might be able ti light up a bit more.
Again. I would recommend sylvania zevo led.
And with zevo, find a particular led bulbs that had a bubble on it. It’s like a magnifying glass that helps ti spread the light a lot more and be much brighter than standard me sylvania led
You used a 3157 bulb which is a dual element bulb used for brake/tail light bulb. You need a 3156 bulb which is a single element. That being said your results will change drastically once you get the correct bulb.
SO just for the backup lights I can go with 3156? I have a 2014 Wrangler JK 4door
He is REPLACING his stock 3156 reverse bulb with LEDs. No resister is required, only for turn/brake 3157 LEDs. Misinformation by you.
@@woofielove1970 The 3156 Zevos are junk as reverse lights in my JK. They weren't nearly as bright as the factory bulbs.
@@ipdjbtzevo are not junk.
Func fact, if ur bulb is 3156 for reverse light and u try the zevo led reverse light, u might want to try another zevo.
What I mean by that is there’s two versions of it. One zevo has led diodes themselves. While the other has an led diode that’s covered with a clear bubble. To create more brightness than before. That’s what makes them even brighter
#HEREWEGO Great vid!
The resistor is just for load on the turn signal flasher. wont affect brightness.
You bought their cheap LED as well. The ZEVOs are much brighter
Exactly. The ZEVO LED’s are better options.
LED was more crispy
looks like when testing before putting in not all of the lights lit up. this is for a tail light and brake light or turn siglan and larking light? it is not lighting up all the way? maybe you need to get 3156.
what a bummer man. i just got these same bulbs for my 2006 WK and realized they arnt bright enough for my liking either. like you mentioned i might go the aux light route and either mount them below on sub frame or near the hitch... i just didnt want to have to do that to be able to see when reversing
i just ordered some Aaron 3157 led bulbs... were recommended on jeepforum.. theyre advertising 60w/6000k lumen so hopefully they do the trick. 18.99 on amazon
There's an updated version for this bulb number!
Din't you mean, half as bright. Like a politician.
Thanks for sharing your finding with us and I will avoid their led's.
Specifically standard led. Get the zevo
Try the ZEVO.
The zevo are a better version than regular led
you bought the wrong kind. That bulb is 2 stage light. its half bright when it is one and when u step on the brake then its full brightness.
Wrong bulb for the application, filming in a location at night with other external light sources other than reverse lights, no go at this station. You have the opportunity to retest at a future date. Stand in the door.
Go STEELERS
What exhaust are you running?
I am running the AFE Scorpion

@@firststaterubicon4826 Thank you
Put hids kits back up lights
They only make led for reverse lights. Not HID.
