I didn't think "Road House" could be remade, it was a classic. But his is different enough to stand on its own.
I actually enjoyed the film and didnt just compare it to the older one. Just treat them as different movies altogether and they are both good. Pretend this called "Once upon a time in The Keys" or something
None of this movie was actually filmed in the keys except Fred the tree. All filmed in the Dom. Republic.
Glad to see that Jake Gyllenhaal is getting some more films.

Jake Gyllenhaal played the part so different but he made it his own,played a great part made the film very enjoyable

I found Sonny's way (Bronx Tale) of dealing with bikers more assertive.
I took a greyhound bus to go diving in Key West back in the late 70s or early 80s. We were on that old bridge, and every once in a while the bus would scrape the guard rail. Made it hard to sleep. Fun times!
They missed the whole vibe of the original, which was about a martial artist with a Zen outlook. UFC fighters covered in tattoos, completely different.
i heard they didnt try to copy the original, but make something different but similiar.

I also was skeptical, but I truly enjoyed this movie. No, it is not 12 angry men but it was very entertaining. I like Jake, he has some strange charisma and really pulls this off. Oh, and for the Connor haters out there I say quite down. I think CM did an absolutely fantastic job. An antagonist that you actually like. Bravo Connor, very well done.

Quiet* down? FIFY. And yeah, Connor sucks as a person but not saying he is wrong. He has his own way of pulling crowds around the octagon, not that I like those ways.
The dumbest thing about the movie was when Connor's character walks into a bar, and starts assaulting people with a golf club. This takes place in Florida. He would have gotten planted by some redneck with a Glock, the SECOND he started swinging that golf club, and it would have been justified.
When I heard about this remake... oh Helllllll no!. But Jake is a dope actor, and this actually looks great. Nothing will ever beat the OG Roadhouse, but this shouldn't go down as a bad remake

Best part of the original Roadhouse was the music, the music in this Roadhouse is also great. Look them up.
I've spent a lot of time in the Keys and have to say, this is a fairy tale. It's very appealing. One nice thing, I've never seen it look as clean as it does here. In between the ocean and the Gulf, everything shows the salt.
This was filmed in the Dominican Republic; they might have done some aerial shots of the bridge etc but otherwise this isn't the Keys

The road house is at MM 77? That had to have been a long walk... his bus was travelling South and he passed Fred around MM 43...

The sequel they did some years back wasn’t any better from what I can tell by the few clips I’ve watched. But it’s hard to follow a classic.

To be honest, not calling it The Double Deuce (but having that restaurant called the DD) I am ok with. I've gone to plenty of seaside towns and other places where it was legit called Roadhouse. Makes more sense.
Great movie! I like the fact that it was it's own movie. The original will always be my favorite but will def watch this new one again a bunch of times. Connor is a great psycho lol

It's not a matter of Jake " getting more movies", he can pick and choose or not whenever he wants.
I love him as an actor, own all of his movies. But there are some duds. And this is one. I do not like to see him jacked up, and in a movie that should've never been remade.
"Love, sex, and other drugs" is my ultimate favorite. If you haven't watch it, you definitely should.
He's a great person, is a very versatile actor, but tends to be in some shitty movies.
Thing is: It doesn't matter to him, because he has nothing to lose. 😮😊❤

I thought in the US if they see someone walking down a highway they would get questioned by the Police, Tasered or shot dead as the officer thought the mini suitcase on wheels was a "lethal" weapon and the killing was justified. Show would have ended after 15 minutes.

Hollywood has been dead for years and these are the ghosts of the past. Haven't been to a theater in years and don't watch television. There are a few decent films that get made ever year. Everybody is a celebrity now with their own web page,blog,etc. Jake is a decent actor but since Darko it's been downhill. 😅
what about nightcrawler? prisoners? jake is great in almost everything, this movie is just an uninspired remake but the lead is not the issue

Just watched the movie and it’s excellent. A very different type of movie than the first. Swayze aside, this is actually a much better movie.

This is an even stupider comment if you just go the Brokeback Mountain wiki. It won several Oscars and is considered one of the best movies of all time. Getting sick and tired of remaking movies that don't need remaking, the original Roadhouse is a classic, just like the original Dune, Predator, Terminator, here's an idea..why not come up with something original for a change...

Agree with you in all but the Dune part. Villeneuve Dunes are fucking AMAZING while the 84' Dune is a clusterfuck.
Well, as far as the original Dune, while it was a nice movie (I saw it when it came out) it deviated so far from the book on a lot of things that it was almost it's own separate creation. The newest one is the closest to the actual book so far, with the exception of a few minor "casting" choices, that had no real effect on the story itself. I prefer the new Dune, to the David Lynch one, but I still like the Lynch version for it's own sake.
The latest Dune movies are a VAST improvement on the previous Dune.
I think Jake is going to rock this movie looks really good.

Just watched it. It satisfies on every level. Jake G without a shirt is reason enough to watch. And the alligator scene.

Not sure why everyone's hatin on this movie. Granted, I haven't watched the original, but this movie's not bad. Mcgregor's a bit over the top, but Gyllenhall does a good job. This and his Guy ritchie covenant movie are good.

Just to be clear, in this scene-by-scene remake they have replaced the cute thin but slightly androgynous "Carrie" character, played by Kathleen Wilhoite with a big fat lady who may as well be Melissa McCarthy. Hey it's all part of the "update" where diversity and inclusion (and plus-size celebration) is the order of the day in moderne Hollywoke.
