What do you think about Cannington driving test area? Are people going to like it less because of the new layout on William street? Is the new double-lane roundabout going to make things easier or harder? Let me know!
I think it will be harder. My assessor took me twice through the roundabout, both right turns. He also asked me to stay on the left lane on the William street while going back to the department. I had to change lanes after the roundabout.
Your videos has helped me pass my driving test in Cannington, I religiously watched your videos before my test day and I can’t thank you enough for making these content for us learner drivers 😊 “Don’t wish that things were easier, wish you were better”
This video was super helpful, I followed all the advice and I passed, it was definitely easier than city west. Sincerely thank you for making this video.
Thank you so much!! Im very glad that you are there in youtube to save me from failing in Cannington! I passed on my first go! I followed your tips and tricks thank you so much!!
Hello Steve, thank you so much for all the knowledge and effort you put in to make these super helpful videos!! I just passed my PDA today in Cannington. Some updates to the area: due to the railway construction in the area wiliam street is now partially blocked. My examiner asked me to take it left at the roundabout and I did part of my test around the carousel area. Gerald steeet was instead used to access the upper beckenham area which I then did stopping for shopping at mills park. We returned to the licensing centre through a very narrow construction site road on william street.
my driving test is this Monday at Cannington. this is my 3rd try as i keep messing up easy stuff because of nerves. im much less nervous at this point. i hope i pass
You probably can but I took a little longer to have a better view in order to explain without rushing through. I would have to double check the 13 minute time stamp, but I believe I remember the scenario
It's best to do it a bit earlier, before you start to sreer. In the test they will mark you down for vehicle management if you turn and change at the same time. If you take both hands off steering wheel for a moment while doing that, they will fail on the spot
There could be many different situations, it's never black and white. I will shoot a video and show you several different options and situations. Meanwhile, don't change gears whil sharply steeering (90 degree or sharper)
I have the same car and am unable to connect to the bluetooth.... can you please tell how to do that? not a driving question but it would be of huge help. Thanks.
No worries, I had a bit of a trouble with it but I kept pushing buttons that the sctreen was prompting me to do, and it worked after a while. I can't exactly remember what I did to be honest. Good luck
How about giving way for the opposite traffic on gibbs street (newly completed road work @ 30kph)? can we cross the left single continuous line to give way (or safe distance) for an opposite vehicle?
I've got my test in 2 weeks in Cannington, I'm feeling confident about the whole area of Cannington. All I need to do is stay calm because I know I can easily pass
when changing lanes in the same direction we indicate to the right or left. Do we indicate first and check mirrors and blind spot? or do we first check mirrors and blind spots and then indicate to left or right?? what the correct sequence?
Hi I want to ask if it is necessary that I need to adjust my mirror to let the accessor see the view? Since my driving instructor told me that, he asked me to adjust the mirror so the passenger can see but for me I can barely see the things behind. I’m only 4’8, he told me that his student who’s similar height as me failed her driving test because the assessor cannot use the side mirror to see the traffic clearly. It’s really confusing to me and I’m worried about I will fail my test because of that.
I absolutely hate it when someone on my rights side in a SUV drive too far to road. Therefore preventing me from turning into the left lane. There is no need for them to be that far infront if they are making right turn..But I guess it's small things like that makes the difference between a good driver and bad driver.
Agreed! Especialy if they miss a few good opportunities to turn. If they leave about a meter gap between the road and their bumper, the left lane driver would see any oncoming traffic and the SUv driver would have the same view
And the worst thing is when some inpatient fool behind you starts beeping because they are too stupid to realise you can't see and have to wait...it happens at the corner of station Street and Albany hwy so often 🤬
@ACDZ123 Right turn from the station Street on to Albany HWY should be banned. You can't cross 3 lines of heavy traffic during peak hours. Make left turn only and U turn down before F Kenwick Link. There is a reason a tow truck parked there everyday.
@@DrivingSchoolWA Thanks Steve. Passed my test in Cannington. I had done the practice around Beckenham and Mills Park but they took me to Langford. Made some minor mistakes but still comfortably met the requirements. Two of my friends failed though, mainly because of the new roundabout on William St.
@@DrivingSchoolWA i had my phone on me and I think it's tracking was on. I will see if I can send you a picture, otherwise I can let you know the exact streets.
@@DrivingSchoolWA turned left into William St, then right at the roundabout into Camberwell St, and then right into Beckenham St. And then right into Albany. And then left to Nicholson Road. And then left at Montorose St and did the left something behind section on Clovelly Crescent. Got back to Nicholson Road, and then right into Albany Highway and then left at William St back to the PDA Centre. it's amazing how many people don't indicate specially in places like Nicholson Road Turing into Albany when there is an arrow on the road. I nearly made a mistake when first driving off from the PDA centre. I didn't realise cars coming from the Retrovision section had a right of way. Can you also please make a video with tips for new drivers.
about the 'give way to pedestrians' I did gave way to a pedestrian on a STOP sign and I failed because of it, the assesor told me that I dont have to give way to a pedestrian because I have the right of way. Now I am confuse

A well- planned tutorial clip !!!
Thank you
Can you please put left right indication signals also with this video on the corner thanks

Can't change this one now but I can include in the next similar video
Hi, I'm a little confused about giving way to pedestrians when turning left in the roundabout. Should we avoid stopping inside the roundabout?
Yes that is confusing I agree
I'm going to guess yes because you are blocking the road but I'm not entirely sure
Ar 13:00 can you proceed when that black car is in the roundabout? Or is there not enough room to fir two cars?
You probably can but I took a little longer to have a better view in order to explain without rushing through. I would have to double check the 13 minute time stamp, but I believe I remember the scenario
Hi how about the Midland PDA test, i don't know that route is that easy to pass??
Every test route shuld be easy if you well prepared for your PDA
Can you change gears while turning the steering to a new road off a T junction?
It's best to do it a bit earlier, before you start to sreer. In the test they will mark you down for vehicle management if you turn and change at the same time. If you take both hands off steering wheel for a moment while doing that, they will fail on the spot
@@DrivingSchoolWA it is not practical to turn on the 1st gear, so how do you change to a 2nd gear while steering and turning to a new road?

You adjust mirrors so have the optimal view, not the passinger.

@unknown1859 yeah depending on time of day il use William St or come around the back to Cecil Avenue or even seven oaks up to Hamilton St 👍

Whats the speed limit now on William St just when you get out of the Liecence Centre?
60, but check on the day as they intermitently change it due to roadworks

Inside the car park, when you turn left or right to park should you signal your indicator?
