    This way is much easier than in Spain. If everyone follows the indication signs before roundabouts and place the vehicle in the correct lane, it will work nicely. Be careful if you drive in Spain cause drivers don't care about the position before entering roundabouts, so they leave them from whichever lane!! Thank you for these driving lessons!!

    At 3.45 you’re in the right lane of two to enter the roundabout for the third exit. When you enter the roundabout there are 3 lanes. You go to the right most lane hugging the round about (which is obviously correct) There are no guide lines sending you to that lane and none of the signs in the lead up tell you to go into that one. As a new driver how would I know that lane is for me and not say the middle of the 3 lanes?

This is my first question.
    My 2 query is if you have followed the dotted lines after passing the first exit...it would have guided you into the 3rd exit....am i right in this? Please clarify.
    My 3 Rd query is are we supposed to follow the dotted lines guiding us into the correct lane or is it after passing each exit should we look for the road signs....in short are we supposed to follow the dotted lines or the directions/locations mentioned on the road after each exit ??

    Very informative video mate. I just have a few questions about roundabouts. Now, what if for example there a lot of traffic & you're not able to see any road marking signs before choosing a lane due to heavy traffic plus you're not familiar with the area, plus all the road sinage on side of the road is blocked from view by HGV lorries, how are drivers supposed to know which lane to choose? I know practice makes it easier, & knowing your route before driving is essential, also what if drivers need to travel when visibility is low for instance at night, or what if the road sinage is blocked from view by branches from trees which i have seen quite often around London, especially on small dual carraigeways, also some sinage such as road markings on lanes is hardly even visable due to wear & tear from cars driving over it so many times, i have seen this quite a lot on Londons roads quite often too. Having said all this, how do people expect new drivers to pass their tests on UK's terrible roads with terrible road sinage & sometimes low visibiility due to heavy traffic, or being obscured by branches or road markings faded due to wear & tear, let alone having to do tests on the roads with the most impatient drivers on the roads? Couse, it depends which city you're in, i'm bang in the centre of London, one of the most hated roads to drive around in. I know for certain that road signage position in the UK isn't the greatest, it could be done better by placing them in better positions, i've driven down some roads where road signs didn't even make any sense at all.

    There's something I would like to share with you. You have made a number of unnecessary lane changes, apparently without applying MSMPSL. This would be a test fail in my mind.
    5:01 Starting correctly in the middle lane. This lane then leads to the left lane after the 1st exit.
    5:28 Lane change into the middle lane, which is not where your markings direct you. No MSMPSL.
    6:02 Another lane change from the middle lane into left lane. No MSMPSL. This is the lane that the spiral would have led you to if you'd followed it - so both of your changes were entirely unnecessary and laden with risk to other road users.
    Your mistake appears to be that you are following the lane markings for 'FEN'. These markings are not just for those who have entered the roundabout where you did, but are also for others who have entered at different points and who are being led along a different route through the roundabout.

    • @SilverBullet2345
      @SilverBullet2345 3 года назад +1

      7:04 he does it again. He's reading the signs and assuming it applies to the roundabout itself, but they only have information for the lane to position in on approach to the roundabout. Once on the roundabout you must follow the dashed lines.

      @zoezebra4013 2 года назад

Does traffic light change anything in terms of maneuvering on the roundabout? I see lots of similarly designed roundabouts with new lane division/choice after each exit but without traffic lights. Just rewrote this as it was a bit long winded - confused regarding the roundabout at 4.00. you are in the right of 2 lanes going to Bedford. as you hit the roundabout there is a left lane 1st exit going off, but then all of a sudden there' is 3 lanes. seeing as the 3rd exit is more or less straight ahead I would have thought the middle lane was the best option but then cars from the left lane were going into it - who has priority for the middle of 3 lanes lane when you are coming off a 2 lane road onto a 3 lane roundabout?

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  3 года назад

      As you pass the first exit, the middle and left lane both go left only onto A5 south only. As you are passing the second exit you move across to either the middle or to the left. I tend to opt for the middle because you will get cars in your left blind spot not turning off to the A5 south and going straight on.

      @@JamesTravis but what if your turning right, but using the left of 2 lanes that both go right? Would you still indicate right when in the left lane? Thanks

    My insurance company says that if you are in three lane roundabout and are in left lane with big arrows pointing to left and Road number written on it,you can ignore this and drive on,putting other vehicles in danger,it will be their fault if you hit them.

    Seems easier, but have you got videos of spiral roundabouts without traffic lights?

    I have a question how can you identify a spiral roundabout

  • @abhinavrawat1460
    @abhinavrawat1460 Год назад +1

    Not all roundabouts have this much clear marking

    Great video but the background music is too distracting.

    Not all spirals have lights tho and I cant just pause In real time to see what lane I should be in when I'm already checking my mirrors and worrying about signal and braking to the roundabout, like it's really helpful video but you saying use the lights to help you plan, and im like bruh mine dont have them I have to a million different things to make sure I'm safe

    All good. But now imagine its busy and none of the markings on the road are visible... And its dark... And google maps isnt as helpful because you don't have a phone cradle because amazon hasnt delivered it yet...
    I prefer old roundabouts because of this. 2 lanes. exit on the left lane. Pick any exit. On your way. So much better for wayfinding.
