Yeah I’m a Zep head and love the reactions..however ..every time I hear the Beatles I realize and admit they are on another planet. Beautiful painted music and John’s angelic voice still gives me shivers.
Hats off to ringo for the drumming on this one. Most Beatle fans say rains his best. This knocks spots off rain and she said she said. No modern drummer could play like this. They would never be so precise and delicate. Best drummer for complementing a song. Just perfection and beautiful
You must understand, when this dropped in 1967, it was a mind blower for many folks. Nothing really sounded like this in any way, shape or form. This was the Beatles answer to the Beach Boys Pet Sounds album, which floored the Beatles with it's creativity by Brian Wilson. This was the pinnacle of head trip bizarre by the Beatles, and this lp is consistently ranked at the top or near it on most lists.
Not really an answer to "Pet Sounds". If the Beatles had any intention of "answering" at all, then "Revolver" has to be counted as that. "Revolver" was released by the Beatles almost three months after "Pet Sounds", "Sgt. Pepper" in 1967. "Revolver" is now generally rated even a little higher than "Sgt. Pepper".
@@braudabo I believe one of the Beach Boys brought the Pet Sounds acetate to London for the Beatles to hear. It absolutely floored them, especially Paul. The seed of the Pepper album was planted in Paul's head. Look it up. In fact, Paul stated that God Only Knows is his favorite song...of all time.
The first verse was about the death of Guinness heir Tara Browne from a car crash on 17 December 1966 (he died the next day). Drunk and on drugs he had driven through a red light and hit a parked lorry as he swerved. Lennon and McCartney both knew him. The second verse about seeing a film in which the English Army had just won the war was a reference to a film Lennon had had a role in in late-1966 called "How I Won the War". The middle eight was McCartney remembering the morning rush to school in his youth. The last verse, back to Lennon, was inspired by a newspaper report about there being 4000 potholes in the roads of Blackburn, Lancashire.
John’s voice- always magic to me ! Paul comes in the middle part. This is like a dreamscape to me- hauntingly beautiful. Cinematic. John loved “ nonsense “ lyrics and wordplay. Imagine in 68 we were kids listening to this for the first time.
There's never been a band as versatile as the Beatles. You name a genre, they've done it. This is a great example of their Psychedelic-Pop side. Some other suggestions: "Helter Skelter" to hear them do Hard Rock; "Glass Onion" for a more groovy sound; "Tomorrow Never Knows" for something way more modern sounding than anything else of their era; and "Within You Without You" for Indian Raga music.
tHIS song is masterpiece. When this album came out people went crazy; they had never hearrd anything like it...they were innovators in rock music and popular culture of the time and every other band since has been influenced by them...More Beatles please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the whole album...go back to early beatles and work your way up from there...start with FROM ME TO YOU, THIS BOY and SHE LOVES YOU...
It doesn’t have to be hard to play to make it good. Coming up with something good is alot harder that being technically proficient. In this song his drumming is perfect.
I enjoyed watching these 2 listening to "A Day in a Life" hitting on their vape pens and getting into the groove of the Beatles! Reminds me of back in the day when I did the same thing, not with a vape pen, but something else! Hmmmmm🤔
This is not a simple easy-to-absorb song by the Beatles. They have plenty of those get-it-on-the-first-listen songs, but "A Day in the Life" is more challenging. It takes many listens to understand it. I didn't like it (or understand it) when I was young and first heard it. Now I think it is one of the greatest songs ever. It's a challenging song, but worth the challenge.
I always think of this as the Beatles version of third eye, by Tool ( even though this song came first) it's a little bit of a acid trip and a story and it changes form several times and you're just along for the ride LOL.
Why the sustained piano chord? Why having an orchestra go from the lowest to highest? Why the (at least) two parts to the song? Why Lennon sing, then McCartney and then back to Lennon? It is the Beatles.....they are true artists.
There have been studies on how they were to able to extend the last piano note...my son's friend's father teaches university classes on the Beatles...they are so beloved...and yes there was more to the ending of the song if you continued to play it
if you keep TURNING UP YOUR VOLUME as the piano chord appears to fade out, you WILL continue to hear the chord much longer. That chord was played on 3 pianos at the same time.
The Beatles drop a song like this in 1967 & every other band in the world be like.... HTF are we supposed to compete with that...and this is just one song of a lot where they changed things to another level.
Yes please cover more of the Beatles the musical taste in genres are vast you will find many many different types of musical styles on this particular album came out in high school it blew all our minds..
The music came through fine but your commentary was very hard to hear on my device.Great song choice,, thank you for doing this one, and have a great evening
Not sure if you two know or not, but just case you don't, this song was sung by 2 different Beatles. John Lennon sang the first part, then Paul McCartney and then John Lennon again. I wouldn't expect you to react to all of these. I tried to pick some popular ones and some that I really love. And I promise I skipped twice as many as I listed here. The Beatles are the best. Here's a suggestion for another song by two artists, though it's the singer "Yebba" (Abbey Smith) who I think steals the show. She has such an incredible range; her voice will blow you away "Clark Beckham Gravity feat. Yebba by John Mayer" Just like Chris Stapleton... Yebba (Abbey Smith) also got her start here on RUclips. She's a wonderful vocalist and has been creating quite a collection. Thanks for sharing🔥💖🎶
You need to listen to the whole Sgt Pepper album on your own time. It is a trip. Smoke a couple of doobies and chill. Try Abbey Road album as well. Good chilling music. 🇨🇦🤗💯
When I heard tomorrow never knows it blew my mind. Then this song came out and my mind has been scrambled ever since. Thanks for screwing up my brain Beatles.
You should react to Wanmor. They’re a group of Wanya Morris from Boyz 2 Men’s sons. They just came out with a new song called “Every Pretty Girl in The city “
Check out Hey Jude w live audience and you will get what the Beatles were all about. Guarantee you won’t be able to get that ending chorus out of your head Na na na na na na na
At the end Paul and producer George Martin decided to simply hold down the sustain pedal on the piano and just let the last note gradually fade away. And you both had the very reaction they were after. They left you hanging on going “…that’s it”..??? And we were all hoping for more but that damn last note just let you hanging on. Brilliant!
NEVERMIND THAT!!WHAT PEOPLE SAYING IN THE CONMENTS. DO YOUR HOMEWORK ON THIS SONG. THE FIRST VERSE WAS A TRUE STORY, REAL TALK.!! THAT REALLY HAPPEN. BEST TRACK PAUL AND JOHN WROTE. PAUL COULDN'T FINISH THE SONG. HE RAN OUT OF WORDS. THAT'S ALL I'M SAYING.
Americans only care about the destination and completely miss the journey, which is the main thing in music, life, and everything. Oh well, you do you.
Yeah I’m a Zep head and love the reactions..however ..every time I hear the Beatles I realize and admit they are on another planet. Beautiful painted music and John’s angelic voice still gives me shivers.
BEST BAND EVER---- More Beatles please
You guys are awesome..love your reactions!!!

The Beatles will surprise you with every song, well over 200!!!👍👍👌👌✌✌😁😁
‘Is like he tellin a story’
Embarrassing
That piano note at the end goes on into infinity 🤘❤️
Don't miss how tight Ringo's drumming is. It's crucial to this track.
It's ok, nothing hard at all or too slick BUT. it is Ringo so we have to stick up for him
It doesn’t have to be hard to play to make it good. Coming up with something good is alot harder that being technically proficient. In this song his drumming is perfect.
This is definitely one of my favorites from them.
John wrote this song with a newspaper in front of him. The verses are based on articles in that day’s edition.
It seems to be a stream of consciousness song about a day in someone's life but as seen through a hallucinogenic drug experience.
Tasty drums! Thx!
The song wasn't over.
I loved this reaction so much guys it was amazing thank you so much❤️
I grew up loving the Beatles
Oh DARLING is a fantastic Beatles song,,you will like it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I enjoyed watching these 2 listening to "A Day in a Life" hitting on their vape pens and getting into the groove of the Beatles!

The Beatles didn't shy away from surreal lyrics and experimental music.

Shout out to BeaTles producer, George Martin
Genius

Perhaps the song that changed the course of rock progressive
The ending is the longest note in music history.
Yes please cover more of the Beatles the musical taste in genres are vast you will find many many different types of musical styles on this particular album came out in high school it blew all our minds..
I did the same thing 50 years ago , it’s known as the long note
This is when song writing was an art.
The music came through fine but your commentary was very hard to hear on my device.Great song choice,, thank you for doing this one, and have a great evening
I agree, Your volume when speaking was barely audible.

John Lennon had 5 Grand Piano's strike that chord in unison
