I make and restore leather products in my spare time, mostly bags, backpacks and small items like wallets and card-holders. I am still learning a ton every time I take on a new project and always appreciate feedback on my creations.
For the moment I don't take orders as I like to spend too many hours getting the finished product as good as I can : this means that if I were to sell these bags, the selling price would be way more than the bags are worth due to the hours of work involved.
As always, do let me know what you think of this video. If you have any tips or comments please let me know by dropping a comment below this video :)

I really like the many holes on the collar. Looks more classy than the usual 4-5.

3:10 Ideally, you should have used polyester thread. Being a dog collar, it is going to be exposed to moisture/rain, and linen is prone to rot over time, when it gets wet.

You’re always a joy to watch. Your humbleness is refreshing. I love how it turned out and looks like it will last many, many years.

I love the look of it. Saddle stitching is strong but I would have added a small rivet or two as well, to be on the safe side. Especially if you would be selling them.. could be a nightmare scenario if the dog owner sues.
I would also advice to use polyester thread for a dog leash since it would keep its integrity better over time. If your dog plays in water puddles or if you take a walk during rain.. the linen thread might rot. It's also a horrible idea to not burnish or crease your leather, especially if you are using linen thread. Creasing and burnishing was traditionally used to help prevent water to gain access to the linen thread causing it to rot. Without care for the edges they will absorb and hold water.

      Thanks for the great advice!
I'll definitely be adding in a rivet in the next ones I make - not that it needs the extra strength, but it's always a good idea. After nearly 2 years of use, while the collar is holding up great, the main issue has been with the dog eating the leather leash when we go out for walks :')

That's a great gift. Well done.
I've learned a lot from the JH Leather channel, she does a variety of dog harness and collar work. Check it out.

Love this! I am considering using beeswax for dog collars as it seems the most natural - do you think it would serve as adequate protection to help a natural leather patina nicely on a dog's neck?

Thanks for the message Lars :)
      I use mainly Acrobond CR108.

Why didn't you skive the leather where the fittings are? That is a massive thickness where the D ring is, and will annoy the dog.

14:00 Why do you keep calling it "grease"? It is dubbin, which is a totally different substance to grease, with totally different applications! Would you put dubbin on your bike chain? Or a squeaky hinge?

7:40 Oval holes are for flat buckle pins, but you have used a buckle with a round one. This means the hole it is in will distort. Plus, the increments of the hole spacing are far too close/fine for a dog collar. For a neck circumference of 40cm, a difference in hole position of 4-5mm is just unnecessary. You didn't really think this project through, did you?!
