Bonita was really professional and positive with her remarks and it is indeed very intense, but I believe that the real deal is definitely scarier. Good job y’all! P/s: I can’t help but to laugh at Aaron’s wrong footwear :’)
i realised that its not just about face and appearance but it also about your personality and how you carry yourself as a person, and respect for others among experience etc.
As Bonita’s explaining to the viewers what she likes and doesn’t, she sounds very nice and objective here. Unfortunately, she’s way tougher and borderline rude on her company’s videos
I agree... she is too nice here. But it’s the reality of the industry. I hv seen directors, producers, etc in media be 10x more rude. luckily she is nice in this video. So many pple in the comments sensitive 🤣
Yeah cuz the cast aren’t actually auditioning to be a model so she could be more lenient I guess. The trainees in her company video auditioned to be part of her agency so she has to mold them in a way to best rep basic models.
@@georgiateo7341 I think we need to stop normalizing such industry behaviour. Auditions are not models performing a job poorly. That would warrant a strong reprimand. Look at how this model scout does it, one can do the job without being a tool: ruclips.net/video/fIBIGRNH734/видео.html
David Ng 👏👏 I agree I don’t see why we have to accept overly demanding, rude and (at times) borderline abusive agents be it in the modeling, acting, singing etc industries. Why can’t those in mentorship positions do better and treat their mentees with some respect? Put some of them in any other equally competitive industry and they’ll be a laughingstock of well-deserved HR complaints. That said the lady here was still comparatively polite compared to the screaming, guilt tripping agents I’ve heard of and seen
This was so interesting, different from the usual types of videos TSL makes! Would be interesting to see more content like this! Bonita was also really nice compared to her usual strict evaluation of models :) a lot of learning points too!
From what I see, Basic model needs to start getting more diverse models. We can see from their site they don’t have much diversity in terms of darker-skinned models or model without oriental/European features. I don’t know if they don’t know how to market people with certain features or not, but moving forward into the future, diversity is something really need to be look at.
I think you need to direct your fight more accurately to the right people. The players who ultimately decide what type of look is in demand are the brands and corporations and their PR agencies who decide what look they want associated with their brand identity. The modelling agencies are the ones responding to these demands and help look for the most suitable talents for the brands to hire. Why don’t you go set up a modelling agency yourself with a representation of fruits, in a market that is looking for only vegetables? When the vegetable demanding market don’t hire your fruits, who are you going to blame for your agency not earning commission & revenue? So why don’t you direct your fights towards the right people instead. Besides, to build on your point, Basic models actually conducts full blown scouting and grooming programs that shape unpolished talents of all colours and sizes for our local brands and corporations who are the true culprits demanding foreign faces. Are other agencies even doing as much as Basic models? You should do your research first before trying to be a virtue-signaling SJW here
@@carrieb2544 Just because is not in demand doesn’t mean brands won’t take them in. Diversity is something a lot of brands looking into nowadays. Sending more diverse models into casting will bring more awareness of what can be represent for their brands. Even though brands/corporations are responsible for the casting, Model/talent agency is still partly responsible for not the lack of diverse models offer for them. A brand may not care for any colour or race but if a agency presents them less diverse models, of course the brand had to pick from what the agency offers. If you offer a diverse models, the brand will have more to pick regardless of their race, colour & features.
I dont think there was anything wrong with the slippers, he actually has a casual style going on and to me it's more stylish than the guy she said looked very 2020...
yikes the diversity comment she gave sangeetha was terribly backhanded... also, I can’t help but disagree with people defending this casting director given the “standards” of the modelling industry. If you keep people like her in the industry ignited and comfortable with their jobs, then there will obviously be no change. The industry can 100% be kinder and more inclusive of “unconventional” 🥴representations
Hi, just wanted to jump in here and provide a different perspective as a fashion design graduate. I don't think Bonita was referring to Sangeetha's ethnicity when she brought up the term "diversity". In fashion, "diversity" is usually referring to "body/size diversity". Ethnicity is not so much a huge factor. In fact, a model agency would want to be more diverse with their models as it will reflect better on them to clients. Bonita made her assessment on Sangeetha after the Catwalk challenge. One thing to note is that there are many different types of modelling, from runway, to catalogue, to commercial etc. Bonita said that Sangeetha maybe wouldn't make it for the "fashion division", which I assume she's referring to fashion runways since she has just assessed Sangeetha's catwalk. But going by Bonita's approval with Sangeetha's presence and appearance, she's likely proposing that Sangeetha would appeal well to other types of modelling other than fashion runway, like perhaps catalogue or commercial. In fact, Basics Models Management is looking to train Plus-Size models in their agency, and Sangeetha would fit well in that category. Not all professional models are suited to every single types of modelling. Bonita was looking for the x-factor in each staff through her assessment. In Sangeetha's case, perhaps fashion runway was not suited for her, and hence the comment on "diversity". I hope my perspective was useful, and enlightening at the very least! Happy TGIF :)
Yes! I was watching some of Basic Model Management videos and thought the same. modeling is about looks but for some reason the modeling industry is soooo toxic. They’re just a bunch of crude b****s. And they try and “groom” people to be crazy perfect personality wise which is kinda pedoish considering many models are young and many the model industry is known to be involved in s*X trade.
Same 😔 She already mentioned the slippers more than once - just move on with it already and focus on the second criteria at hand which was his acting, but too bad there wasn't even feedback about that since she kept focusing on his slippers then too 😔
@@joylee007 Same same - I feel like her attitude/the way she conveyed her words wasn't the best in the video - some backhanded comments and unnecessary gestures/attitude too 😬
I am kinda shocked they all ranked themselves under 7.... I feel like I am sooo high in self love is rank myself a 8 or 9, just to be modest 😂😂 cuz like self esteem and stuff
Firstly, in this video Bonita girl, she’s trying to be as polite as possible. Secondly, castings most castings you don’t need fancy shoes slippers are actually fine (for men at least) however ladies HEELS you’re casting for modelling and ofcouse there’s gonna be expecting a catwalk. Third, wearing such heavy makeup isnt great.... it’s too much and it hides away the beauty.. Overall, I just wanna share that, Bonita is being polite, even tho her agency was being exaggerated abit.. but thats the fashion life they would say nasty stuff and reject you. Its not all glam and beauty. its nasty, at days you could be booked for 10 castings and you could end up with 0. In the end it all falls down on how you going to sell the brand. So if anyone is planning to be a part of this industry, I’m wishing you all the best and be smart.
I actually she’s the most non-toxic evaluator around. She doesn’t mince her words and she gives feedback not to put people down but to help them realize what they can work on more. I would rather listen to her feedback and evaluation than someone who prefers to be an angel and tells you nothing is wrong but then doesn’t hire you at the end of the day. Feedback is valuable and constructive. I can only say that anyone who has a desire to work on and improve themselves and level up will like to hear what she has to say. Those who prefer being sheltered by fluff and cotton candy will not like to hear what she has to say. It seems to me that Bonita is a go-getter and high achiever who wants good for herself so I think she would like to hear what she has to say if she’s on the other side
@@carrieb2544 OP didn't say she's toxic. I personally think it's her delivery that's problematic. The way she rolls her eyes at someone's hairstyle - while being unable to decide and discern if it's 70s, 80s or 90s is snarky and at the same time discrediting her ability to tell period styles apart.
