The Original Gamer I agree...only partially because Look at shovel knight It's retro its ost is retro sounding Everything is retro about it even has cheat codes which was in the good old days of gaming Don't argue with me
This game is genius. The soundtrack is truly inspired because it's not really "music" but "atmosphere". And the visuals really show off the SNES's capabilities well.
Believe it or not, the first time I played this masterpiece was in 2011 on the Wii Virtual Console. Metroid Prime 3 got me in to the Metroid series. Better late than never.
I was wondering if hitting mother brain while getting rejuvenated really made a difference but I guess it did. And you saved the animals too. Best speed run it was a pleasure to watch!
You are all kinds of amazing. I still have this game and my SNES, but I never beat it. It scared me when I was a kid because the sound design was so good at being creepy. I'm now thinking I need to go ahead and jump in.
go ahead my friend! when I was kid I got 100% without seem any video today.... I don't remember where is that last mission pack '-' hahaha but come on play the game again it's so perfect and even for the day it's a amazing game.
you can play metroid zero mission and even metroid fusion in web browser!!! it's simple go in gbafun.com and search metroid zero or metroid fusion and play it! it's 2 amazings games too.
Felipe Granzier There are similliar websites called SNESFUN.com and 8BBit.com for the snes and nes. I've completed super metroid and zero mission on these websites and I'm trying to beat metroid fusion. They are all great games and are cool to play on a computer! Also congrats on beating super metroid 100 percent without a single walkthrough! I'm also trying to do that.
thank you so much! when I was a kid I tried eveything but not low% but funny fact is that when I was kid in the first play I did I beat the game without the charge beam! o_O what we can do when we are kid.... oh well btw good luck on Metroid Fusion.
This was such a fantastically awesome game. I remember playing it for days when it first came out, amd only ever managed to get to 1:54ish for my best cleae time. Nice run man - it's crazy to see how precisely you nail some of those jumps, charges and shots.
I watched the hole thing. I bought the book about a month before this game came out and just studied it. Super Metroid, Demon's Crest, and MegamanX were about all I needed a SNES for. oh! and Chrono Trigger. only thing to come close lately is Shadow Complex, which I played just cause of how much it reminded me of Metroid. Thank you.
I wish this kind of (tool assisted) speed run was more common. I'd love to see what speed runners could achieve if they could simply choose to redo something to fix mistakes. This run even throws in quite a bit of style. I love it.
One thing about this playthrough is that seeing samus going through a door takes a long time considering that it is something that the audience will see often. Fortunately by usng video speed controller on the extensions I can set a button to fast forward 2 seconds so that it is seamless. Its quite fun.
Damn, cuttin' it close with Phantoon, finished him off like a ninja! Great play-through, you gave me some new insights into shaving time off my own personal best, which admittedly is much less spectacular: 1hour 44min. for 100% items.
I thought I was the shit cause I could 100% this game in just under 1:30. Now I realize I was doing a lot of screwing around. I follow a very similar(almost identical) path through the game, but my tricks skills are very lacking in comparison. It takes me pretty much twice as long to do everything.
i swear the only way you could feel our pain is if we were to find something you couldnt do so easily since you wree a kid, then one of us just do it to perfection as quickly as possible, THEN sir you will know how we feel watching this video.
This is absolutely incredible. One of the most difficult games ever and you just breeze right through it. You clearly know every nook and cranny. Were you a developer of this game? lol
Is Super Metroid difficult? I can only think of Ridley and possibly on a first play through the stretch to Phantoon without save stations as being hard.
+manmann lee Those aren't new games. Those were games in development before the newer gen came out. They're just wrapping things up. Though not all. But I agree with you, a remake of this for current gen would be solid gold.
One thing I've never understood is at 00:15:45 you jump and mockball along the floor and the lava doesn't rise as quickly. I've tried this but the lava rises too quickly and I have to jump the platforms like normal. Is there a certain state that needs to be triggered?
That wall jump and mockball mastery tho. Also I learned something new (apparently?) all these years I didnt know you could cancel out of an item instead of cycling through them all to get back to default state. How do you do that? hold down select or something?
Wow, impressive. What do you get to do in the game after you finish it? Start a new game + and keep your weapons and energy tanks and replay the game with a higher difficulty setting, or something? Can't wait for a Metroid movie btw.
When you beat the game, you'll see a new demo of super metroid (this one appears when you don't press any button at the title screen). The demo shows that you can do some tricks such as "Crystal Flash".
I don't normally say things like this, but you have left me no other choice. I was rather disappointed to see you open the door on the left wall of the landing zone in Crateria by shooting down at the right wall. Most unorthodox. Otherwise, gg! =)
Awesome work! Just wondering how many tries it took you at 9:18 to make it, if it's reliable, and if you think it saves much time to grab the powerbombs early?
gryphen_357Just some times. I'm sure that it saved much time because I could collect the missile at 11:45 right away. If I didn't pick the early power bomb, I had to go back to that place later.
rd7979 I practiced it for half a day and got my wall jumping ability good enough to do it reliably. How did you get the block to disappear when you shot it from the platform? My gun / missile doesn't reach that far. Am I missing something?
gryphen_357 The keys to success are timing and speed. When the creature goes from left to right and reaches the center of the screen, you need to shoot and jump immediately. The first and second wall jump should be as fast and high as possible.
I remembered years ago I bought a Wii just to play metroid. Being the only console you could play it on, I thought "why not". Got home, turned it on. Half hour later my Wii was smashed in pieces. It doesn't even compare to this edition.
Kurt Rozentaun Not really. At 1:22:21, you can see them (one tiny spark thing) escaping from the planet to the right side of the screen. That will not happen if you don't rescue them.
In 33:37 you get the supermissiles. Why you can shoot the supermissile block from the distance? I tried it and it didn't work. Same thing when you get early powerboms you shot the block in advance. I tried that one too, same thing, it didn't succeed in.
was watching another TAS. you can actually skip the boss in the bomb upgrade room. you just got to be fast enough before the door closes. It can save a few seconds
@@jadendafinger you can watch this video: ruclips.net/video/R3t8TIIj7IM/видео.html He ran like that with B button, and did at least 4 times of arm pumping (press L or R). It seems that it is possible to do this trick in some versions of the game. I tried many times but failed to do it, so I let it be.
Best running ever, and especially cause you save Etecoons & Dachora ;) You really have to learn me how to charge without running ! (Sorry for my english, I'm french) I explain : To jump like a rocket you need run a few metters to press "bottom", then the direction you want and jump ! 36:50, how can you charge without running ? :D
In Super Metroid, there are some tricks called "quick charge", "short charge" and "super short charge". Just search for them and you'll know the answer.
I always wondered if there's glitches in the speedruns because in this game when you get to the phantom skull with blue flames, you normally can't beat it twice, he's supposed to vanish after you hit it and reappear after But anyway, your speedrun is incedible congratulations!
I didn't mean to say that but I intended to say you sometimes do things I don't understand like at 41:55 you avoid the webs of the green monster but after you begin shooting missiles we can see you are "in the hands of the monster" and so he is supposed to catch you but why does he didn't?
Sylvain Hotellier I think that's a trick. First, I shot all the webs that might catch me. Then I ran under Draygon monster's belly (stayed away from its mouth) so as not to be caught.
If you want buy the mini snes just for this game that is on it dont bother as there is a problem with doing wall jumps, I tried doing this for about 2 days, and you need to do it to progress to next level or maybe if you think you can suss it out then go ahead
rd7979 Yeah, I'm well aware of those. The mockball is no problem, but I have some hard time doing the short charge. I never managed to do both at the same time in that room. Thank you for the reply, anyway. =D
this game is still better then alot of games of today.

The Original Gamer I agree...only partially because Look at shovel knight It's retro its ost is retro sounding Everything is retro about it even has cheat codes which was in the good old days of gaming Don't argue with me
1000x better than Fortnite
damn right it is.
This game is genius. The soundtrack is truly inspired because it's not really "music" but "atmosphere". And the visuals really show off the SNES's capabilities well.
I've watched countless of these, but savestate or not, this is by FAR the most entertaining and creative run I've seen.
thinking back to my childhood, it took weeks for me to do what this guy did in 20 minutes.
Believe it or not, the first time I played this masterpiece was in 2011 on the Wii Virtual Console. Metroid Prime 3 got me in to the Metroid series. Better late than never.
omg same!!
It's an awesome game and everyone who haven't played it should. I replayed it just the other week and it's just as good as I remember it everytime.
Mine was just metroid prime. Still my fav till this day
Been a super fan since 93 check out the classics man metroid 1 Metroid Samus returns definitely super Metroid and zero mission and fusion
I have never seen this game manhandled like you did! I am very impressed! Well done!
I dont understand how half the stuff you did was possible, but I loved it and I love YOU! Thanks for such a badass video !
Interesting that crocomire is saved for one of the last

close to favorite game of all time.
This is badass! Happy New year
Wish you all the best in 2020!
Dude this is nuts. Fastest I could ever do was 1h39m with 100% and animals saved.
That game is so ahead of his time if you put more graphics on it and put it on Xbox 360 it will still be the best game ever
360 is old... You mean put it on PC.
i still play the Xbox 360 they still making games for it
+manmann lee Those aren't new games. Those were games in development before the newer gen came out. They're just wrapping things up. Though not all. But I agree with you, a remake of this for current gen would be solid gold.
It would run best on PC, but Nintendo would never let it on a non Nintendo console
I read the title of this video and thought it mean Super Metroid was completed under a Minute! I was super jealous!
When I completed Super Metroid, the game screen showed that the clear/completion time was 00:49 (49 minutes according to the game's clock).
I love Super Metroid.

No. As far as I know, Super Metroid consists of 2 versions. Maybe you're playing the version in which the lava rises quickly.
You know he’s a legend when he can outrun the Super Metroid
At 22:53, my heart stopped for a brief moment...

Great Speed run! My All-Time favorite video game!
Yo dude youre a beast in this game its my fav:)
hello, surely you should know, but I saw not using the video, a super missile opens the pink doors instead of five common missiles.
So this is where all the creatures from Metroid fusion came from!
And I thought I had considerably good timing as a completionist.
You are God!!!! Incredible... congratulations! you are my new video game god!
Impressive.
The speed booster and shinespark in this game is still arguably better than metriod dread

you need mental help sir. medication might work, or maybe a straight jacket
What happens when you save the green chicken and the little things at the end right before get in the spaceship .? rd7979
at 1:21:21
Monst3rGab when Samus' ship flies away after the explosion, you can see a little sparkle fly away to the right of the planet
Brad Bostic thanks for the info =)
I didn't notice that! New info! haha XD
30:35 The ship skip was menacing
awesome! took me a month to beet it with help.
incrivel cara dimais tu es um jogador nato de metroid parabens
Outstanding!!!
I was today years old when I found a way to get super missiles early
Amazing run!
Can you explain me, what does matter to rescue the green chicken? Will it somehow change the Plot later?
Kurt Rozentaun Not really. At 1:22:21, you can see them (one tiny spark thing) escaping from the planet to the right side of the screen. That will not happen if you don't rescue them.
It makes fusion canon
Brother speedruner, we must Conquer Videogames!!!!! GLORY TO US!
How did you do that at 6:40? Going faster in the morph ball?
It's quite hard to explain. You can search for "metroid mockball" and follow the instructions.
Alright, thank you.
Always save the animals.
No matter what.
And I thought completing this game in 8 hours when I was 10 was impressive.

was watching another TAS. you can actually skip the boss in the bomb upgrade room. you just got to be fast enough before the door closes. It can save a few seconds
Thanks for your suggestion. However, I played at normal speed (no slowdown like those tas) so that trick cannot be done.
@@rd7979 Ohhh. That makes sense. Do you know how the trick works by any chance? (even if it's impossible in a non-TAS run)

Well I didn't know about that...
Thanks for this tip^^
And why does he sometimes use spazer instead of plasma?
Sylvain Hotellier When? From the time that I got Plasma Beam, I used it all the time.

at 28:07 has anyone ever found anything out about that single mob there? it's very unique and I could never find a way to get to where he is
36:48 How can he do that?
well, the main purpose of this video is to provide speedrunners with some possible tricks so as to cut off their speedrun time
How u beat phanton from that form ?
is maybe insane the damage you deal on him
Denis Petinelli just practise and you can do that too!
That boost ball at 57:57...
I still can't perform it. :/
Short Charge + Mockball. You can search for those 2 techniques and do it, too. Good luck!
rd7979 Yeah, I'm well aware of those. The mockball is no problem, but I have some hard time doing the short charge. I never managed to do both at the same time in that room.
Thank you for the reply, anyway. =D
How is it you didn't have to kill the geemer after getting the high jump boots before the door would open for you?
g33kofalltrades i killed it and shot/opened the door before getting Hi-Jump Boots.
How do you sprint while in a ball D:help I'm stuck in the minute 6:41 of the video.
+kaaji1 search for 'mockball super metroid' and you will know how to do it.
