take a moment and think: most people had CRTs still and HDTV was just coming out. This is some high ass quality for 2006 and even for today
HDTVS were not just coming out, TFT LCD were as HDTV. They existed in CRT for nearly a decade. But you tried at least.
i meant as in getting mainstream
@@TwelfthQuotient yeah i had crt tvs all the way up to 2014
Guilty. Lol
@@Odin3v I’m gonna say this. Our family had two TV’s from 2006-2010. A new HDTV from 2006, but an old 1990’s Cathode ray tube TV in the basement. I used that Ray tube TV to play Mario Kart Wii in fact.
This quality is insane, can't believe a 2006 race looks this good.
Fox's/FX's 2006 and NBC's/TNT's 2004-06 graphics have definitely aged like fine wine... IT LOOKS BETTER THAN ANYTHING ELSE ON OUR SCREENS THESE DAYS.
It's amazing a copy of this race in HD exists!
What a treat Benny Parsons was! People have no clue how big he was to nascar and doesn't enough credit for it
Him, Ned Jarrett, and Bob Jenkins were all instrumental in the rise of NASCAR in the '90s. RIP Benny and Bob.
Benny Parsons was God Tier Announcing!
Wasnt this his last race announcing?
@@deathrooster14 2006 Ford 400 was the Last Race that featuring Benny Parsons as One of Color Commentators
Thank you! The official NASCAR upload basically did this but it wasn't full screen and the framerate dropped near the end.
Actually it was full screen. Full screen is basically 4:3 aspect ratio. Widescreen is 16:9 or wider.
@@anthonydeloreto3881 Oh yeah right I get those mixed up. My other point still stands though.
Oh Ohmed
@@anthonydeloreto3881 and they also cut out the intro and plastered the NBC logo, plus the sponsors on the ticker.
"Earnhardt leads at Talladega, all is right with the world!"
Super cool to see NASCAR at its peak of popularity, with some amazing racing (even with that bummer ending!)
I wish Allen Beswick was calling NASCAR races again
Bestwick wasn't even calling this race
He does SRX now if you’re wondering
Being on pit road doesn’t do a legend like him justice
@@evannuh-koo-la4054Allen was the original announcer for NBC and tnt.
this has to be the best classic nascar race on the internet in terms of quality! thank you for uploading this in such great fashion!
This is beautiful. Iconic paint schemes, repaved Dega, the sound of these cars at Dega...all in 60FPS HD? BEAUTIFUL.
Man I wish racing was still like this. It just seems so much more exciting.
2006 was an Underrated Season. 43 Cars screaming around a 2.66 mile track
I don’t know why but NASCAR in the early 2000’s just seemed more ferocious and intense compared to today.
No cap
Quality is amazing and those engines are screaming. Love the plate noise from from the early to mid 2000’s. pre COT
I wish the 2005 fall race existed in HD or widescreen. Would be a hell of a watch.
Nascar classics are uploading daily so it be on there
@@MRNASCARFAN25 but they cut out a lot of stuff... Intros, pre race, sponsor billboards, clip/replay transistions and even the damn logos on post 2004 races.
The 2000-2007 gen 4 cars are awesome. I just love the high pitched howls of those cars. In a way it is kind of nostalgic.
Wally Dallenbach was perfect on the call during the finish. Tremendous
He was imo underrated
Miss that x pipe scream from those cars wish it would come back
This was the first race I ever watched on a flat screen TV
Thank you so much for this video! Much better than its previous versions like one with lip sync issues, a 4:3 version, a 16:9 version that wasn’t HD, & one that had the lip sync fixed, missed the first few seconds of the original video which was no big deal. This one has EVERYTHING that I ever wanted but better! 1080p60fps looks AMAZING!!!!
Good lord this is some amazing picture quality for 2006
I think I enjoy seeing the old pre race shows almost as much as the races themselves
This is one of the earliest races I clearly remember watching with my bro! I was a Gordon fan and he was a JuneBug fan, and we went to bed after the races absolutely FUMING cuz of the finish… it’s so fucking cool to be able to watch this race in HD
I am just in awe of this quality, thank you so much for this!!
16 years later and Vickers move still Pisses me off😤😤
Wasn’t his fault
@@Mattyice2000Yes it was. It was 100% his fault.
He clipped him and the back right quarter panel.
You need to watch the video
@@mastercarpenter1970 it was racing
Same here. Dale Jr should of won that race.
@@Mattyice2000Yes it was.
OMG the sounds of these restrictor plates is like racing porn.
Best upload of this race!
Guess my comment was enough to inspire this upload?
Yes it did! Just took a while to clean up the broadcast
What do you mean by that? Like you change the coloring, and some sync issues then export at 1080p @ 60fps?
It’s probably more complicated than that I don’t know much about video enhancement .
@@TheFrontBumper the source footage was already 1080p so it didn't have to be upscaled. The most time consuming part was just de-interlacing the race to get it to play crispy smooth.
Good to see this uploaded in high quality
Big one @2:41:11
2nd one @3:14:17
Worst part @3:30:00
Thank u
Should be "Worst One"
I miss the Wally's World segments
NBC always had the best camera shots at Talladega.
Ah yes. The race where Brian Vickers made an enemy of jr nation.
Jr tears lol
Literally didn’t do anything wrong lmao
God I miss the sound of these cars 🔥
This stop motion is really good!
This one took awhile.
the green flag is at 1:13:10 if anyone wants to skip all the pre-race stuff.
Boy that was some good old days
Did anyone else hear the crowd chanting “Bullshit!” during Vickers’ interview?
i love the 2006 series
Great race! Bobby #43 had fast car... He needed 3 more laps!
Amazing quality!
Dale Jarrett led the final lap of the 2005 Fall race, and he leads the first lap of the 2006 Fall race (not to mention first Cup lap on the new surface). Even 16 years later, the track is still smooth as glass.
It’s been getting a little more bumpy as of late but I’m really surprised how well the surface has aged.
There was a reason vickers never had a long term ride. It wasn’t just medical. He had talent but made a lot of bone head mistakes
Vickers always knew what he was doing!
The crowd applauding and roaring with joy seeing Jeffy Pooh take the 24 to the garage takes me back. What a great time it was to be a nascar fan!
This is quite impressive
BP, Marty, wonderful crew
This is way better than the NASCAR Classics upload. It’s in HD and you get the pre race. What more could you ask for? Also, F you Vickers! I still hold resentment over him wrecking Junior.
Richie Gilmore and that engine shop had some ponies in that 8 car
This is actually FHD, 1920x1080. HD or HD ready is 1280x720. It still looks damn good though.
Great race
RIP Benny Parsons.
Damn they sound sweet in this era 😙
2006 Dale Jr and Jimmie Johnson fan pain 500
Vickers - Revenge is a dish that best served cold.
Me big fan of the nascar 🇺🇸❤👍
Junior got totally screwed by the Hendrick Boys
Oh it’s beautiful
Was this Benny Parson's last race commentating?
Close to it, his final time in the booth was at the last race of 06 in Homestead.
nope, benny made it to the end of the chase but died shortly thereafter :(
damn this has better quality than the iPhone 13
59:30 ... not an empty seat in the house. Look at that crowd. Now days you will be lucky to fill a quarter of the seats. What a time to be at a NASCAR race in 06. Wow.
2012 Coke Zero 400 in HD pls I can't find it anywhere 😔
I didn't see the 8 swerve to block...
To this day Jr nation are still upset and disappointed how the finish went
Fast forward 9 years after this when Harvick turned Bayne on purpose. I checked the replay when the caution came out and Logano was indeed ahead of Junior, winning the race fair and square. This was due to NASCAR only doing one attempt at a GWC because they overreacted after Dillon flew into the fence at Daytona prior.
I mean, Vickers was clearly trying to follow his teammate, but he was a tad bit too late and clipped Johnson's right rear quarter panel.
It’s just one race bruh
Till this day I’m still pissed at Brian Vickers 😡🤣 taken Dale Jr And Jimmy Out!
Wasn’t his fault
Repaved Talladega and glimpses of the two car tandem. The speeds would have been well over 210 mph
Who would have guessed that the Cingular poll question saw the fans get it correct. Harvick would be the first among those 4 to win a restrictor plate race, the very next one after Talladega. That would be the 2007 Daytona 500.
Kasey should have been declared the winner!
It wasn't Vicker's fault that his car "sucked up" after Jimmie made his move. There was a vaccum, so when Vick went with Jimmie the front of his car was already a little past Jimmie's right rear. And there you go!
2:14:32 why does that ONE Ford car have the old Ford stickers. Everyone else had the new fusion headlights. Never noticed that.
Even though the Ford teams switched to the Fusion in 2006, you were allowed to run the previous model for up to two years after part-time. At Homestead 2005, some Dodge drivers drove the Charger while some drove the Intrepid. Wallace was driving the Taurus, everyone else were in Fusions.
@@mattkowal90 never knew that. Thanks for the clarification! Pretty cool.
@@SWiFTMK7 true. Even in the late 2010s, with Toyota introducing the Supra as their new NXS car, and some teams still used a Camry. (Timmy Hill #13 Roof Claim was one of them...)
Is the race compressed?
Can we get the 2009 All-Star race like this? Or that years Coca-Cola 600?
Talking about non chase drivers racing the 10 chase drivers with respect, it made me laugh hearing Ryan Newman say he "wouldn't expect it". Out of all the drivers in '06, i seem to remember Newman had the biggest reputation for racing insanely hard, with a huge risk of wrecking, at completely unimportant times in the race.
Kasey Kahne really won the race
Much less looking this awesome
3:06 take a moment to experience what NBC and TNT's definition of "Adrenaline" was in HD... Nothing else comes close from the Nextel era at all.
What does Bill Weber do nowadays?
1:29:17
3:30:00
Welp.
Half an hr to see the race.nextel cup is still boss.
Still angers me what Vicker's did
He really didn't mean to. His car "sucked up" real quick in to Jimmie when he went with Jimmie.
Unpopular opinion but single file restarts should come back for plate races
Green flag @ 1:13:15
Thanks
Race Start: 1:13:30.
Kasey Kahne won this race. They could have raced to the finish. The trouble was behind them.
3:30:04 OHH
My God, Brian Vickers, Is A Traitor, To Hendrick Motorsports.
Are you serious bitch? He was trying to push Jimmy to the win lol
Going for the win lol not being a traitor but Jimmie also tried to pass jr all late just when Vickers tried to help Jimmie for the win
What I saw was Vicker's car sucked up to Juniors car after Jimmie went to pass and when Vicker's went to go with his teammate his front bumper was already past Jimmie's rear bumper.

1:13:38 Green Flag
“All is right with the world”
…. If only the idiot behind Johnson didn’t cause that wreck.
There could’ve been a 7th win on his resume at the Dega. What could’ve been. Regardless Jr is still a legend!
3:30:00 how dare you Brian
2:13:21 personal timestamp
This race made me not like Brian Vickers
I could've sworn that Will Ferrell and Sacha Baron Cohen had crashed on the final lap of this race and Ferrell and Cohen ran twords the start/finish line and Will Ferrell wins and then his best friend John C. Reilly who also crashed ends up winning the race
And also quite fittingly is that it's a red, white and blue Monte Carlo that took the checkers in a race that was called by Bill Weber..... coincidence? Columbia Pictures predicted that race ending before it even happened! Way to go, Sony... Way to go! (And I swear I saw David Stremme flipping back there...)
1:05:22
I still think Vickers is that good. He took Johnson out and was going to overtake Junior to the Finish Line. Johnson took out Junior for him. From 2007 to 2014, I ran over 200 laps at Dega and everytime down the backstretch when you get a breather, I always thought of the skill it took to do that.
First
I wish Bill Weber works for nascar
Those restrictor plates are the failure of nascar.
Vickers sux
Brian Vickers was sucks
Always thought that 8 car should have been blacked flagged when he had been warned and NASCAR still didn’t say anything when he bumped the 2 car in the turn to get the lead!
Glad he was not the winner!
Never cared for him or his daddy ! Both dirty drivers
This The 2006 UAW-Ford 500 Stock Car race that took place on October 8, 2006. The 38th annual running of the event. Benny Parsons, (Referred To As BP From The Other NASCAR Sports Announcers), Won a NASCAR Championship, (1973), and Won The Daytona, (1975), but Sadly Would Only Live To Be 65 Years Old, and Would Pass Away Only A Year and A Half Later On January 16, 2007 (65 Years, 6 Months, 4 Days). He Won The North Wilkesboro Speedway, But Similar To This Race Where
In 1979 at North Wilkesboro Speedway Bobby Allison led most of the race but in the final 150 laps, Darrell Waltrip caught Allison. The two hit together hard and Darrell nailed the front stretch wall. Waltrip began crowding off Allison under the caution and got black flagged for the crowding. Benny Parsons would win the race, but it would be his only win at the North Wilkesboro Speedway, a track which his wife Terri (married from 1992 until his death in 2007) would become an investor two years after his death.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benny_Parsons
Winner should be Jr. What a dirty move
Dirty move to try and follow your teammate? JJ would’ve won even if Vickers didn’t accidentally turn him
