I went to the ER in late December because I thought I was having a mini heart attack. I was having tightness and discomfort in my chest for a few weeks prior and even after I was discharged. EKGs, chest Xrays, and bloodwork showed everything was normal (blood glucose was slightly elevated), so I was diagnosed with a panic/anxiety attack... I noticed once I lowered my carbs drastically and started eating more fatty foods the tightness and pain in my chest started to go away.
I think we need really need to change the rhetoric around what is considered a healthy diet. Fat is not the enemy, cholesterol is not the enemy. It's excessive sugar/carbs, high insulin, and lack of exercise.

Your videos are really going next level. I had taken a break from the keto/carnivore video world for a few months and am now catching up. You are doing some really good work. I'm currently fighting with my doctors over this particular issue. Sad thing is my ratio is 1.8, down from 2.8 just two years ago, and even higher as you go farther out. Even though I shed 30 pounds lost 4 inches off of my waste, ditched the belly, and dropped my blood pressure to excellent levels they still want me on statins. Not going to take them, but it's a bit annoying to keep having this discussion with them.

That’s the window to eat correctly between 14 h and 20 hrs. Every thing gets controlled. Triglycerides, diabetes, blood pressure n all. Just a bit of rise in ldl but hdl improves a lot.

From my research, a very important ratio is Triglycerides / HDL. You want Triglycerides down and HDL up. Ratio should be 2 or lower. Great video btw. The labeling is definitely simplistic. We need cholesterol. Oh, ok, you just said what i was saying. So it should be 1.9 or lower. I want my HDL to go up because it is always a little low. I did get my triglycerides down a lot because i started eating a cleaner diet (less processed foods) and do move around more than in past. Takes some time to change diet and to become more active. You have to plan meals and also make room for exercise.

I've recently gotten blood work done through Labcorp, and the only thing was my HDL being low. I used the calculator in this video for HDL/TG and am at 1.8. I've seen quite a lot about taking a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil every day can help raise HDL, and somewhat quickly. I was actually surprised my results weren't horrible as I do eat very poorly. So I've started doing a tablespoon of olive oil and taking krill oil every day. Hopefully this is a good step to increasing my HDL and I will slowly start to remove the junk food.

I had a lipid panel a few days ago, and was a bit discouraged to find that my HDL is still a bit low, and my triglyceride/HDL ratio is still in the 2.7 range. I aim to lose another 20 pounds. Question for you on the correlation between smoking and low HDL … is it, by chance, specifically the nicotine that is the cause? My husband and I both went low carb, IF 16:8, in spring of 2020. Both of us are now a healthy weight and feel great. My HDL levels are fantastic, but he has been unable to get his levels up at all--he also happens to chew tons of nicotine gum, and has done so for many, many years. Could that be the culprit?

I don't think any educated person disputes that. We can also say that water is essential for health and even for life itself but it's possible to have too much water. Fat is also essential for life and health but there's danger in having too much fat. The issue is not whether cholesterol is essential or not but rather the type and the amount of it that matter.

I have very large Xanthelasma on my eyelids about 1/2-in in length and 1/4-in wide and very puffy. Everything that I've read says not to eat saturated fats. I apparently have very sticky gunk in my arteries.
Can anyone please help me find out more about this sticky gunk in my arteries.
Both my younger sister and my mother recently died of heart failure.

any thoughts on the Carnivore Diet to raise low HDL?

Hi Kait. New subscriber here ❤️ I'm really intrigued by the carnivore diet. Can I use olive oil, coconut oil and avocado oil while following this diet? I have them here and I don't really want these to waste but I keep filing Keto so I think the carnivore may work for me. Any advice on these types of oils?

Answered in this video 😁 ruclips.net/video/9V6XX0v_T4c/видео.html While not technically carnivore, those oils are of the best you can consume and probably fine for most.

Hello! I know I’m quite late to the game, but I started mainly a carnivore diet to help alleviate my eczema. I got my test results in, and it’s Cholesterol, total: 289 mg/dl, HDL: 55 mg/dl, LDL is 225, while my trig 46 mg/dl.
It just stinks because I’m still so anxious, and I think I have no reason to be. I guess it’s because it goes against the norms of what is considered “healthy.”

Try going vegan for a couple months and check your levels again. Your LDL is very high and many studies have shown how a vegan diet can help significantly decrease LDL levels. Good luck!

    Hi Kait,
I just saw my medical record and found out I have a history of low HDL since 2015 (as far back I can see online). I was 15 back then. I have normal total cholesterol, normal LDL, etc. so what can be the cause? Is it genetic? How can I know? Am I at risk still if it’s genetic?

I have gone through weight loss and lost about 100 pounds through intermittent fasting and high protein/fat intake. However, my HDL decreased from 32 to 26 and my Triglycerides increased from 106 to 139. It is super weird and I am not sure why I am having this problem. So I am looking around at tips to raise HDL. Since I have never smoked, I intermittent fast basically every day, and I have never been averse to Saturated Fats, I think my problem lies elsewhere.

@@elizabethbagwell3795 I’m sorry to hear that. My last check in I was back up to 36 on my hdl but my triglycerides went up a ways. I just added olive oil into my diet mainly and started taking an olive leaf extract supplement recently so I’m hoping to know if it’s making a big difference at my next check up in a month or two. I think for me though I was eating a lot of saturated fats like pepperoni and sausage. I tried to switch to turkey pepperoni and eat less sausage which I think is what helped for me.
