Doc, you must be one of those You-tube "experts" other doctors warn us about. Even my own doctor scoffs at internet medical advice. These medical practitioners tell us to keep away from the free advice, but offer little in the way of counter arguments or advice. Instead most offer in and out appointments that last 10-15 minutes after waiting for hours to be seen. After watching many medical advice type videos I've concluded that you give better and understandable advice with your demonstrations and analogies than most of the doctors I've ever had the misfortune of seeing. Thanks for your patient teaching skill. Good work!

So glad to learn your information on cholesterol. Mine has been elevated but not high enough to medicate with Statins. Yet often now, doctors want to treat the lower numbers. My total cholesterol ranges between 180 and 220. I’ve refused statin drugs. I eat oatmeal most days in the winter months and am a vegan. My dad died with Alzheimer’s disease. He lost weight while at the nursing home so his need of heart drugs and diabetic drugs so they took him off of these. His cholesterol, I don’t remember his numbers now as he died 20 years ago. He was on statins a long time while his dementia was getting worse.
My instinct was to tell the doctor I don’t want to take statins. I did have gallbladder disease and had my gallbladder removed as the gallbladder was infected, I ran a high fever, the doctor said it was at the point of rupture.
I think that the doctors have become conditioned to just write prescriptions for statin drugs and don’t understand in a family such as mine, that I could have inherited the tendency for AD. I am now 68, my dad had been on statins from before he retired. By age 68, his memory was very bad. But his brothers and father also all ended up with Alzheimer’s disease. They were all big dairy users. I am off of dairy except for use of some butter rarely. Dairy gave me gouty arthritis, my hands were nearly useless to me and I was in a wheelchair. I am no longer in a wheelchair so my body does much better on the vegetarian diet.

Dr Ekberg your explanation fitted my case so well. I have lots of boxes of statins, stacked up at home, because all the Dr was worried about was to prescribe statins, even though he knew, I was on testosterone lowering medication, he knew the cause but still progressively doubled my dose from 20mg to 40mg of statins. The prognosis was obvious the longer I am on the on 10,8 mg of zoledex quarterly and 50 mg of caloxa daily for 6 months the more this would influence my LDL and overall Total Cholesterol. These two drugs were the cause of my total cholesterol and LDL going up, both the urologist (I am being treated for prostrate cancer) and the dr insisted I take statins. I just said okay, but never drank any and I am doing great! Thanks to you and dr Ken Berry on helping us and defying these people who are out of sync with how the body works. I feel very empowered 🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️

My husband has the 1st type of excess chosterol. He worked very hard to lower his cholesterol intake. In 2019 he had a mild heart attack but ended up with a quad bypass. Now we are targeting the inflammation that caused all the blockage. He had 2 100% blocked, one of which was the "the widow maker" and 3 others that were 75% - 95% blocked. Thank you for moving the focus from chosterol to the inflammation that causes the traffic jam in the first place! Hope this idea catches on quickly!

I supposed the argument is then that (as you said) lowering cholesterol lessens the likelihood of inflammation and plaque causing a blockage due to cholesterol trying to fix it? The cart before horse analogy is very clear Dr Ekberg. Thank you

I have been watching your videos. I love how you clearly explain how our bodies work and why our bodies react the way they do to what we eat and don’t eat.
Can you share with your followers what you eat on a typical day for breakfast, lunch and dinner?

You are an example of excellent clarity in teaching. Please do a video showing more on cholesterol ratios in terms of a reference range of ratios that give us an idea of best/ better/, bad/worse. 1: 2, 1:3, 1:4, 1:5, etc.

Dear Dr. Ekberg, I am learning so much from your videos. Thank you for educating us. I have familial hypercholesterolemia and no matter what I do I can't bring it down to where the doctors' goal level. I tried diet, exercise, medication but it remains high. My doctor suggests I should try the injectable statin but I'm very much afraid of the side effects as I still suffer from the side effects of statin pills.

OK I’ve got it, cholesterol is essential.
I have follow up questions if you will...
Does vitamin C belongs to point (12) on your white board?
What body resource (other than ingest) does cholesterol is manufactured from ?
What amount is cholesterol per day we need or consume ?
How will our body manage cholesterol if in excess ?
    Your advice?

Excellent analogy using the traffic accident / emergency vehicle scenario. I typically refer to a fire scene and fire trucks in a similar manner when trying to explain to people the role of cholesterol and HDL/LDL.
Until the fire (inflammation) is under control, the fire trucks must keep responding, taking them off the road will not solve the problem.

I did a lot of research from doctors from different countries, from different time periods and different ages. My parents also take a good probiotic, one that has to be refrigerated, every day.

Good stuff Sten. Also, T.G/HDL less than or equal to 1.8 and you're golden. Good puffy LDL you want. Greater than or equal to 3.5 and LDL has some bad oxidized content.
Makes me crazy that Statins are the only drug that can enter the brain and take away all that good Cholesterol it needs to function. I'd like to see a study on the relationship to Statin use and increase in Alzheimers.

    • @drekberg

Thank you for videos, I am not a medical person. I could never figure out why the medical field trying to
change statistic each time I returned for blood work, to tell me how unhealthy I was, when I felt perfectly fine. They suggested I take a Staten to improve my health, I tried one for period of time, the results were awful, severe body cramps, foggy head, general feeling of unhealthiness . When I told the Dr I wouldn't, won't take the Staten, I upset him.
I have stuck to my conviction, then started doing research, finding the faults in our medical system.
Found your channel, I appreciate your information very much, and have sent your link to my doctor.

This is the most complete and logical explanation I have ever seen. I was so confused. I blame my confusion on the corrupt influence that big pharma, big government, big food lobby, insurance have over the FDA and AMA; coincidentally my doctors "coveted" pedigree and training.
Nonetheless, my ratio is beyond the 3:1 average. I'm at 5.5:1 currently. Now I know that inflammation is to blame. I don't have enough busses going to the liver and the busses leaving are overloaded. I can picture those busses now: standing room only, folks hanging on with one hand, riding the bumpers and on top!
I have another appointment in three months. Gonna check blood levels again and prescribe statins. But I am cutting out all sugar, most carbs and drinking acv three times a day. Worst case, I will kindly decline the prescription and seek assistance from a local holistic practice.
