I'm not a talented cook, but I made this yesterday and my parents loved it, as well as my brother who can be quite picky at times. This is definitely going into my recipe book!
Not that you have to the fish tends to keep its structure more when cooked in the pie from raw. the juices in the fish will give the sauce the flavour as it bakes in the oven
I was tight on budget so I used some leftover frozen shrimp and canned tuna chunks. It still tasted great! Threw in leftover thyme and dill just because, haha
I was lookig for a fish pie recipe today, and I've seen several in a row. I must say, the recipe you've shown is the most tempting of all 😁. The presentation is wonderful, the look of the dish is wonderful, and the video is very entertaining Good for you, young man. I will definitely try it 😁👍👍👍
Looking for a fish pie recipe scrolled afew but liked yours because of your enthusiasm and no faff aproach and of course the ingredients were exactly what l had already...going to cook it today...so thankyou 👍
Okay, I watched just about every RUclips video for fish pies and none come close to this. None. Making this for my family for 4 years now. Epic. I add bacon instead smoked fish. And some onions. Celery is boss in potatoes. Well played Donal!
Im so making this dish for my family! We are in winter here in australia at the moment and it will make the perfect blanket dish around the sofa watching telly :) thanks
Donal skehan you're such a lovely , happy person, I have watched your program on TV too like your smiley face best cook thk you for sharing your recipe👌👌👍👍🙂🌝
This looks very delicious, I think Donal handled the burnt mouth situation very well! I love watching all the videos from Donal, Jamie Oliver,Gennaro and Antonio C.
Let's face it. You can't go wrong with a great fish pie!! For people of my below average skill level, it's the perfect dish to make for friends and family. Absolutely delicious - but I must confess to adding an egg yolk and a little cheese to my sauce!!
I love your videos... you make everything look so delicious! I can't wait to make this. I also am in love with the cookware you used too, the blue pot that u made the white sauce and some of the other basic blue & whites one. Can you please please tell me where or the brand you used?
Wahey!! Donal!! Fancy seeing you here!! Subscribed to you last week from recommendation from the sorted crew and now you're here!!! Good job! Love this recipe! :)
Green Brah Wow. Fascinating observation..... You're the one judging his clothing. You're the highschooler. How about we discuss the food he cooked? After all, this channel is about food not fashion.
Hey that was a cool presentation and a seemingly tasty fish dish ...personally I'd change one thing and that is to slightly cook the fish first in some milk, pepper and salt and use the remaining liquid in the white sauce. This is just to ensure cooked fish in the dish. A little doubtful about how well cooked the fish would turn out in the original recipe. Thanks for a good recipe!!
LOL You were able to talk after that hot bite is a wonder! Great recipes!!!! Glad I found you! We'll have to trade some of my mom's Newfoundland (or Goofy Noofy as she'd say) recipes!!!. Happy St. Pat's Day and this is going on the table tonight with a big mug of Guinness!
Why does EVERYTHING on this channel look so delicious
OK???? And not to mention so easy to make!
I'm not a talented cook, but I made this yesterday and my parents loved it, as well as my brother who can be quite picky at times. This is definitely going into my recipe book!
My mum poaches the fish in milk first then uses the same milk in the white sauce :)
Rhi that's a good idea
Rhi mine too
I was wondering if i should cook the fish before hand or not and you've just answered my question.
Where’s that white sauce cum from
Not that you have to the fish tends to keep its structure more when cooked in the pie from raw. the juices in the fish will give the sauce the flavour as it bakes in the oven
I was tight on budget so I used some leftover frozen shrimp and canned tuna chunks. It still tasted great! Threw in leftover thyme and dill just because, haha
This dish is looking good! I'm gonna try to cook it to my mom, she's in love with Donal's recipes. And I'm in love with Donal.

Can I assemble this a day in advance and bake on the day?
How do I prevent it from becoming too watery when baked?

LOL! :)
Love this recipe❤️❤️🙏🙏I made ones and I am gonna go with this today again🥰🥰👏👏good job you are the best young man 👍👏👏👏🙏🙏❤️❤️
Jamie oliver is the fish raw when it goes into the oven or must i cooked it first
Cold milk won't make lumps either, as long as the roux is hot. Warming it is redundant
I have cooked it many times it’s amazing. I do add prawns, mussels, lots spinach and even boiled eggs))!
I’ve never had Fish Pie. I’m definitely going to try it. I’ve never seen bags of shredded cheese and breadcrumbs; how handy!

cant wait to try your recipes, whatever i've seen looks tempting... love your presentation skills.. keep it up!
Just made this and it turned out a treat. Well done. Really lovely dish.
HOORAY!
to avoid the bechamel from lumps, add the milk bit by bit while whisking :) lovely recipe by the way

Love the ending
This looks amazing, the quantities that you had put up on screen will serve how many people?
Roughly about 4-6...
Donal Skehan Thanks mate, I know what I'm going to make for tomorrow's dinner :)
A tip: mash your potatoes, then stir in the milk and butter, you get smoother and fluffier mash. Mashing it with the liquid makes it gloopier.
sounds just like my taste - I am going tp make it this week/ Thank you so much
Ohmygod. So beautiful. And the pie looks good too.
Do you cook the fish first or let it cook in the oven?
