as someone whos first final fantasy was the first final fantasy, Garland always held a special place in my heart. He was never a great villain, but he was my first, so seeing this is like how i saw him back when i was playing ff1 for a kid, with my imagination filling in the blanks.
I wanted him to say he'd knock them all down lol. But yes great wordless opening like Up. Shame the dlc forces hard mode and bundles but I did get for $16 so I'm satisfied even with some flaws, there is a lot of moves (press and hold select to talk was a bad one) and good pacing (though they skip scenes after the opening and don't have a world map ie play in hallways).
The guards: "Oh my God... he's not even saying anything. Not even reacting to us as we shout at him and run towards him. What a stoic, truly terrifying villain..." Jack's earbuds: *electric guitar noises*
I started Final Fantasy on a whim, with its old graphics and peppy bit music, got fairly far...now years later I started this today and wow. Just wow. I gotta say it's nice to be back hunting "crystals", I'm wondering if we'll get a name for this world finally? So far we got: Gaia, Spira, Ivalice,Gran Pulse, Cocoon, Terra, World R, Hydaelyn, it would be nice to learn more!😁
@@joshrox826 Well, it does open with teenagers getting slaughtered, a chocobo ripping some dude's guts out, a whole entire nation getting nuked (With it's leader, it's only survivor, becoming a bloodthirsty psychopath), and there's lots of blood too. Bear in mind, that's just the intro for Type-0.
I just played a little bit of the newest demo and I am now more suspicious that this is really a sequel instead of a prequel... at the beginning of the game, Princess Sarah told the characters to help the knight "Garland" that goes to the Chaos Shrine 10 years ago and didnt come back, then told the characters that she can't recall some of the details on what happened 10 years ago and because of that, the King didn't believe in her. Neon also has a hazy recollection of 10 years ago. In the end of the FF1 OG, we are told that the 4 heroes will be back to their past after the fight with Chaos but with no recollection of their heroic deeds, only the mythical creatures will remember such as the dragons and the elves. And true enough, they have hazy memories, and its like Astos still remembers (he is a dark elf so he most likely is included on the mythical creatures that remembered what really happened). My speculation is that the time loop is restarting, and now Garland will sacrifice himself to stop this loop once and for all. I think the time loop in the OG really didnt stop and was just a temporary halt because we are told during the ending that Sarah, Jane, and Garland awaits the heroes when they come back so there is still a very high chance that it will happen again since Garland didn't disappear when the heroes defeated him.
@@Silphiroth The writer is Kazushige Nojima so you still cant write it off unless you already finished the game and already know the story fully well ^_^
Man remember when FFXV was gong to be the first FF game where enemies would visibly bleed in combat/gameplay and people lost their shit when they saw that in the 2006 and 2013 trailers only for the full release to remove that? Fuck it here's the OG FF villain turning dudes into sashimi.
Neither did I tbh. It's a shame that FFVII Remake didn't have proper blood in the game. They had Jenova's blood trail in purple ooze and President Shinra had smoke popping out of him when stabbed. 2 iconic moments that really needed the blood imo. I'm not saying R rated but at least realistic as possible. I wasn't too keen on this game (FFO) but Garland was done bloody well. And the ending was perfectly done. All we need now is to give the rest of the Final Fantasy games their time and moment. I mean as you can tell I'm a massive FFVII fan, but it's being milked way too much. I'd love to see the other games get some attention (FF 1-6 + 8 - 12 not 13 as that had it's story expanded and complete). Hell, I'd settle for either a ps5 version of Dissidia (as long as we have limit breaks/ finishing moves rather than relying on HP attacks and summons) or even a Advent children style movie of Dissidia, as long as the story is not all over the spot. I'm not a fan of movies that have boring scenes that drag on and on with no real input to the story, especially love scenes (look at Amazing Spiderman 2, trailers were amazing but the movie was a mess).
