I really love hanging out with you all. You are so mellow & the food.. Like you I enjoy camping away from
others. Mostly for the same reason. Mostly is I only like to hear the sounds of nature when I am sleeping.
The last time I was in the Bad Lands was 1992 when I rode my Harley from MD to Sturgis. Thanks for
making me hungry with that bread & Regards from Ody Slim

I adore the mountains, but my best camping experiences have been in the grasslands. Last year I spent the night in Comanche and it was the most spectacular campsite. The stars were breathtaking. And other than coyotes and crickets it was as quiet as I've ever experienced

Wow!! The shot of the flag is just … beautiful. Why don’t all Americans fly the flag these days? I so appreciate that you actually read and share the history, info re: geology, wildlife, native species and populations as you do. Thank you for that. So many show the beauty in their videos, but I learn things when I watch your videos. Fantastic! I plan to visit SD, WY and NE in Spring 2023, so you’re providing me a prelude to my own visit. How Cool!!

I was at Badlands NP campground this July. It was 108! Thank goodness I had an electric site. I could only hike at 6am when it was beautiful and then hunker down in my van AC during the day which was a shame but no choice-just too hot to go outside.

Yep, I became a night owl big time when I lived in Arizona. Night in the desert during the summer is amazing. Day time in that heat is an absolute, nope, nope. At present time I'm in Louisiana, not thrilled, I'm a Florida girl. But it feels almost hotter here than it did in Arizona. The dry heat, yeah, like an oven or a hair dryer on high heat. But the humid heat here, unlike near the beach in Florida, is melting.

I had a peculiar reaction to the grasslands of South Dakota when we drove from Minnesota and crossed the Missouri River. I was driving at that point and feeling very sleepy. Suddenly, I came wide awake and a feeling of “I’m home” stole over me and persisted during our stay.
Thank you for sharing your visits to Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, Devil’s Tower and other points of interest. That was one of our favorite trips out west. Btw, my husband and I are Arkansans, too, although I was born in Michigan. We look forward to all of your videos.

Wow that place is amazing! I can see why it’s called the Badlands. I imagine the early explorers traveling by horses and wagons! It had to be a huge dry maze of rock formations. I bet a lot of people died trying to find water and shade from the heat. I love the colors in the layers of the rock. Great video as always you two 👏😎

I used a Coleman camp stove when I went camping in a camper shell, tent or tent trailer. This stove was originally equipped for
Coleman fuel or white gas. It was purchased in the mid 60s by my father still have it . I did find a propane converter using a 1# bottle. I have camped in state parks, national forests and KOAs. I have prepared many meals on it similar to a home kitchen stove. Unfortunately, I am no longer able to travel and camp any for various reasons.

The Badlands look rugged and beautiful. Years ago I work in a jewelry store that carried Black Hills gold. It's pretty tri-colored gold. Kellie have you seen the gold in the local shops ? I would love the toasted olive bread but my husband doesn't like olives so I would have to make it for my lunch. I'm a mayo loved because lots of stuff I make includes it. Macaroni salad, Potato salad tuna salad etc. My family will be having macaroni salad this Labor Day Weekend along with smoked pork. My husband loves to smoke meat. Wishing you both a fun filled Labor Day weekend.

No kidding the hottest time of year is July! I was there at the end of July and it was 103. Too hot to even get out of the motorhome and do a short hike. I too passed on the park campground since it was so exposed. I didn't catch if you said it was 85 or 95, but glad it cooled down a bit for you. Thanks for sharing the Notch Hike that I had to skip!

Amazing and stunning scenery. It doesn't even look real, but it is. The thing about dry heat places, like desert, is that you never go out there without at least almost a gallon of water per person. It's way too easy to get dehydrated without even realizing it. I learned that he hard way when I lived in Arizona. Long time past, but habits don't die. I still drink water almost constantly and add water like half or more to any juice, kombucha or electrolyte that I drink. I don't drink soda at all, ever, and never anything out of an aluminum can. It's also very easy to get burnt to a crisp in high desert.

The badlands look beautiful, untouched, and rustic. I agree about campgrounds being nice when they are not crowded. When we car camp as a family, we like to get mostly weekdays booked. It is wild how much a campground will clear out on a Sunday morning! And as far as noise at campgrounds, don't forget kids!! Trust me I have a daughter lol. -Hedy

Great footage, and the drone shots were phenomenal. I can dig exploring the Badlands? But one time would be enough for me. I'm livin' in God's Country Tennessee, where everything is green from end to end. We got trees 6 stories high from Memphis to Elizabethton, and we can grow anything that ain't tropical. The West is cool, and I wanna see it too.... but I ain't ever gonna live there.

Cody, you HAVE to visit the Dinosaur National Park (both sides). We've heard it called "a geologist's dream" and it fits. At one point, we were standing "inside" what felt like a rainbow. Rocks in front of us were purple, red, yellow, the sky was blue, and the hills behind us were green. Put it on your list; it's like they made the park just for you! LOL! - and I LOL'd at Kellie, too: "It's not the whole thing!" Y'all crack me up.

The Badlands! A whole lot of nothingness! Just sayin! It definitely has its own distinct beauty and knowing the make of the land and its history, all the way back to dinosaur times, makes it more beautiful! I wonder what early settlers, traveling through this area in their wagons, thought?!? So, the people camping in the National Park, in direct sun all day, have they not seen the KOA or is it free for them n the park? Can't imagine camping w/o trees! Kelly, were u hot after that hike? Made me laugh! Thanks once again for the tag along! Safe travels till next time🌞
