142: the first stone steps (1-24 model railroad layout)

  • THIS TIME: In this video I complete the first set of steps on the layout. I think there'll be 5 more, as well as 2 or 3 bridges. So I'll be getting in a lot of practice. Cutting the overall step shapes was fairly easy even though the walls each side were angled. Harder was having to install shims under each step to raise the steps to the right scale height. Having foam that was the correct thickness would help, so I'll be looking into that for next time.

    They are developing a railroad modular system using hexagons sized to fit specific kato unitrack lengths. They're making a freestyle narrow gauge line in S scale (1-64) using 9mm track. That's about 575mm gauge in the real world. That could be called Sn20" or Sn2'. It's worth while hearing their reasons for going down the small module route after trying T-Track modules.
