James Baldwin spoke so pristine that he left little to no room for argument

Baldwin was a passionate speaker. He talked about social injustice without hatred but with reasoning and clarity.

Thursday June 11th 2020 I fell upon this never heard of it never never saw the video but it made my day today I was watching Malcolm x and he repeated something so similar if black people do not grow to know themselves and be proud and strong of themselves they will not be able to live others for we should know ourself and where we have from because that is all legacy strength and we have to show light society the blood is red the color of our skin is as bright as the sun and as strong as the sun 💪🌞 we need to let them hear our voice never stop Black history month is not enough we have to constantly remind them and remind our children because when they forget is when they become prey to White society

This is why, America has tried for many many years to hide the words of Baldwin from Black America , because his strength in words are so uplifting . This is a real man speaking to all black folks especially black men!!

As a child, I could never understand why we were hated, feared but at the same time admired..but when I began to listen to our songs, music read, study and reflect on our story...and when I spoke to a traveling man and he showed me the last pages of a different type of Bible...my eyes began to open to the light of truth... I Am

A Letter To My Nephew first appeared in The Progressive magazine in 1962...but it seems it could've been written last week.

I already had so much respect for Chris Rock and loved hearing him read this out. Heating this being read out now is coloured by Chris' humanity. Adds another layer to a beautiful piece of writing

An amazing truth! In them taking our identity they lost theirs. James Baldwin was an extraordinary man. Who was brilliant fearless and very articulate. He spoke with great clarity leaving no room for guessing. No his words were clear and concise they painted and cemented morbidly horrible yet realistic images of the times in which he lived.

James Baldwin one beautiful human being
who could tell his nephew with all the injustices to love
and that is what black people are with all the
injustices done to us we can still forgive
what a beautiful race i have the privilege to belong to

Baldwin was a boss of man on so many levels but he understood very clearly he was spiritual being having a human experience. This allowed him to observe and develop into what it took honor that blackness and his spirituality, despite the many injustices.

Great letter. Baldwin is one of my fave American voices of all time.
Great comedian reading it too. Rock is the man!!
But jeebus just read the dang thing. He can't stop stepping on his own toes and screwing up, due to his desire to add a lil stank on it.
It's stank enough on its own. Baldwin doesn't need any help lol

The speech is better when it is read “matter of factly” without the emphasis Chris Rock tried to put into it. It’s so powerfully worded no extra emphasis is required.
