In this short video I show how to take apart a Seagate external USB backup drive. If your external drive has stopped working you can try to bypass the enclosure of the drive and connect it directly to your computer. This short shows the steps involved to get this done. Keep in mind that some different branded external drives have proprietary connections soldered to the drive making it impossible to connect to any computer. Хобби
Alternative video name: how to turn a external hard drive to internal
Simply install the OS there, now it is called internal
Can u put this one in a xbox?😅
Your video Saved my life
Great!
Thanks to this video, now I know how to properly connect SATA HDD to iPhone or iPad with USB-C port (HDD will get power from AC power adapter rather than iPhone/iPad). Before disconnecting HDD from iPhone/iPad, I will COMPLETELY power off device because unfortunately, iOS doesn’t have safe eject feature.
Thanks for comenting.
Thank you so much, this helped ❤
You’re welcome 😊
"This is a Seagate drive. It can be opened with a Seagate drive."
Can you give links to the tools needed to do this. Will this work for an external hard drive that is not detected by any computer?
Can I do this with any Seagate; including 8TB? This is godlike and I never knew, like seriously maybe even do a full video on this.
I have the same one 8tb it work ?
yes
Thank you !!
You're welcome!
What are the 4 extra pins for?
Bro, your video made my hopes alive, please say if it helps to fix the fatal hardware error.. i.e unable to initialise the drive?... Please reply
I'd like to know: What would be the best tool to use to open one of those external hard drives? Thank you!😀
What is the 3rd connecter stands for? Sir.
Hello, I'm from Brazil and I have a problem with my Seagate 2t external hard drive. It disconnected itself from my MacBook's USB port and since then the computer is no longer recognizing it. Additionally, the blue light no longer lights up when connected to the HD. I did a test and removed the part where the light is and connected it to another HD, and on this other HD the light blinks. When I enter the disk utility, the HD appears there with its 2t, but it does not appear in the folders on my computer. I have already used 3 different data recovery programs, however they freeze at a certain point without finding any files and it keeps saying that there are more than 100 hours left to complete the process. I'd like your opinion and, if you have Discord, we could set up a quick video call just so you can take a look and make an assessment. Thank you for your attention!
My theory was right!
I have a WD external HArd drve but similar
I plugged it in and its not showing up
Didn’t work for me went to Best Buy to get one and it still does not show up on my macbook
The video was informative till 0.43 seconds. Post that don’t know where to get those wires or plugs.
literally provided a link in the description😐 and he made that obvious
Links?
Some are soldered inside
yeah... but the one that does that are just wd and toshiba
Is buying an external hard disk and opening it to make it an internal hard disk, cheaper than buying the internal hard disk?
Which of these both are cheaper?
It's called "shucking", and the concept has been around for a while. Not all HDDs are made equal, and external HDDs are usually pretty slow. But if you know exactly what make/model HDD is inside the external device, you can find them on sale and make it work.
@@Omnipotentous thanks for clearing my doubt 😇
@@Omnipotentous External drives are only "slow" because of the usb cables instead of the SATA hookups inside the computer. The USB is a bottleneck.
@raincadeify can you give me the speed for SATA3 vs USB 3.2 Gen 2x2?
The video is scrambled & not viewable
Video plays fine for me.
@@TimsComputerRepair Same 👍
