Hi guys I realized some of you folks have trouble with putting the shadows down. Sometimes it’s difficult to distinguish the girls shadows cuz it very subtle. I’ve included a photo here to help you with this. The zones are clearly visible here. www.icloud.com/iclouddrive/01FBi1CeN-NAlmYiq7nQyEtVw#IMG_7312
would it possible to reshare the image please? it's no longer accessible 😭 also I don't know if you noticed but the colours/section for 7 is never shown
This is by far the best tutorial I've found for portraits.. I've been struggling with my workflow for digital portraits and your video helped me so much that I'm now able to do almost one per day!!! Thank you!!!
Same here. First i thought i was doing it wrong, but then i realized the color swap Haze uses first at 3:39 seems to be empty? I nearly went mad because the swap always changed to my currently picked color. This seems to be because it has no color itself 🤔
Oh wow the clear mask layer then clear. I have to try this a few times to understand the method in doing this. I never known this technique. Thanks for this course. Your so beautiful and talented. Looking forward to more techniques..
Was waiting this morning. I started it yesterday. And, I was just watching your Procreate Brush Pack + Portrait Tutorial from Start to Finish on my other computer. Love your technique.
Hello! I recently got into digital drawing and I’m self-learning it. Just wanna say a big thank you to you cos I’ve learnt so much from your tutorials! They are really easy to understand and useful. Would u please make more Procreate Portrait drawing tutorials pls? ❤️❤️❤️
Just wanted to say this format is so much more helpful than your tutorial a year ago! It’s nice to see the brushes and steps; the slowed down video is helpful as well
I was starting to get slightly bored with my style and I came across this can’t wait to try some of these new tricks I learn and add it to my next piece ☺️
Haze I love your techniques, you are so creative . How lucky I am to find you in RUclips. Please upload more videos like this , I am your number 1 fan . Love you girl ❤️❤️❤️
I don’t usually leave a comment on videos, but i just want to say thank you! I just started digital art few months ago whilst i was in self-isolation, your tutorials really encouraged and helped me. Thank you so much!
Wow, thank you so much for the tutorial, especially on using multiply and clipping mask for shadows! I've always picked a random colour for the shadow and it's difficult to harmonize it with the lightened skin, this tip is really helpful :)
I am trying to learn a new technique and I love the way you do it, fascinating what you can do with masking. BUT! I am having a lot of problems! I have been trying to do it along you but but when I get to colouring, the saturation brush and the effect it has on the colour I start to get lost, I am not paying attention if I pick the right colours as you say, so I keep going, and when I get to the shading part and, duplicate layer, multiply, mask invert, shading… everything is soooo wrong! So, I start over again… but I am getting frustrated. But if you can do it, I will certainly keep trying! I have the new 2022 brush set with the new colouring tutorials, but I won’t start with them until I understand this method first. Thank you for yr tutorials, they are great!
I just got an ipad and an apple pencil and I really want to be able to draw like you 😍 But I am so bad at doing the details and I always mess up on that part.
Hi! I’ve started the tutorial today and I’m to day 2! Everything has gone perfectly until I use the palette to fill the hair. It keep changing that colour you mention for the hair to the last one on the drop fill and I just can’t make it work :( The other colours of the palette work really well, but that one won’t let me be set! Would you know why is that? And how to fix it, please? Thank you!
Hi Haze thank you for your wonderful tutorial ❤, just want to ask a question, how you use one finger to undoing on procreate? as in my app it only work with two finger touch. Searching a lot but couldn’t find my answer.
Im not sure if I did something wrong, but when I go to add a darker color such as brown, it appears as it is taking color away when using the smudge brush. I'm confused lol
How did you color the layers like that at the beginning? Whatever i do, the color stays inconsistent, or if i finally get it, it’s way too transparent :(
Hello Haze, I am working on the three day challenge and I am enjoying it. I was using the painting brush to apply the solid colours. Worked perfectly on the green but when I tried the blue I was getting a very streaky effect. I tried adjusting the brush settings but needless to say this was a mistake. I am used to the brush reset on procreate and I don’t have that. I have now completely ruined your “ painting brush “ can you send me the settings ?? Thanks I really want to continue with the challenge. I especially want to compliment you on the notes on the left of the screen. I could not keep up without them. Once again thanks for all your videos.
Aww so sorry to hear that. You can download the set again from my website for free. There are so many pages to the settings n it’s just easier to download again. Also remember to load it in the brush tool and not the smudge tool.
Hi Haze! Thanks for your tutorial, really amazing. I have a problem/question...I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I can't smudge in the mask layer, is it normal?
@@HazeLong yes feom old for me works like flat brush u need push hard if u wanna get solid color if u press light I must make 3 4 passes something like that
so whenever i try and paint on a shadow it doesn’t come out the color that i pick for example: i choose a dark brown and it comes out as a light purple and then when i multiply the layer it’s almost grey.. i followed the exact steps and idk how to fix this problem.
Because color is relative sometimes it gets like that. I think u picked the light brown. The same one I picked for the chin. It comes out grey cuz it’s muted. I recolor those parts in day 3 and you can do the same. Or you can use hsb to fix it in day 2
When I try to use your swatches eastyskin tone, the color I select is replaced with the current color? this only is happing with your swtches? any ideas why? great tutorial by the way.....
Hello, I have a question about using the saturation brush and color. Im using a reference image to pull color from with the color picker but when i use the saturation brush on top of an alpha locked layer the color I selected isnt being brushed on. In my example Im trying to use a very pale white/pink color for a skin tone but when I use the brush it looks grey on the layer, but If i create a new layer, and change the brush the color is correct. What am I doing wrong? Does the inital color used for marking the different layers (face and neck for example) affect the color of the saturation brush when trying to paint over it?
Dear Haze, i am desperately trying to understand. I find it extremely difficult to imagine how the picture will look like in reality, while totally different colors appear when using the saturation brush. I just don‘t get how it works. Maybe someone has an idea? Thanks for sharing Your knowledge ❤️ I wonder why do you use all the multiplying and saturation instead of just painting the colors as they are? 🤔
Any color swatch has 3 properties- hue, saturation and value. You can watch my color basics tutorial to learn this. The saturation brush applies only the hue and saturation. In this tutorial, the value is achieved by using the layers in multiply mode. This tutorial is for people who can perceive colors and saturation better than they can visualize values. There are many methods in painting. Usually if u paint as it is, u have to solve drawing, value, saturation and hue problems all at the same time. To make things easier, artists break this down into steps. The other tutorials in my channel usually starts with a grayscale painting first, thus solving the value problems. Then we apply the color and saturation on the painting. This tutorial however, solves the color problem first and value last. You have to find the method that suits you.
I cannot crack this step of the portrait for the life of me. I use your techniques, but on a different picture and yet the coloring and saturation always seems off and awful. I’m never gonna get it :(
Best portrait tutorial for procreate, however, still needs improvement. For one, you skip important parts. I don't know how you got the borders of your lines so clean in the beginning (when you're shading with green etc for the alpha lock). That's the part I needed to see the most and I was disappointed to see that you skipped through each and every border shading. If it took you a long time to do something, that makes it relatively difficult, so all the more reason why we should see it. I as a viewer trying to learn wouldn't care that this makes the video longer, it'll take me much longer to do it anyway if I don't see you do it. I really need to see a zoomed in video of you doing those clean border shadings because now I've been stuck on those for half an hour. Are the borders very clean on yours? I can't even see what they look like because of your colour choice and I can't zoom in on a youtube video. Please, remember this, if it's time-consuming for you, don't cut it out of the video because that means we really need to see it!!!
I’m literally in the same situation. I switch to the saturation brush, and then when I try to lay the shadows on, the colour is not visible at all so I couldnt see if I’m putting in the correct colour of shadow.

My skin tone pallet doesn’t have the color at 4:33
Mine either there are 3 colors that are transparent on my pallete. When I click them they set to whatever color I have currently in the color dot :(
Hi! Why some of your brushes can’t be imported to procreate?
Maybe they are project files or other format. You can check the file extensions first
