Thank you Tinman! I bought a metal brake handle to replace my fudged up bent one. Now, thanks to you I know how to do it! And hopefully I can find a brake band, and put a brake band and the bent handle on my old backup! Your videos are the best to learn how to work on these old saws!!!! Kudos from Alabama USA!!!
I always protect all my safe spiders in my shop (black widows and brown recluses have to go). They do a good job in helping to keep the other bugs down!
Your best kinds of videos bud! I had to watch the same video TWICE to fogure out how the leaf springs worked on a 51/55 series saw. Chain brakes have the potential to be complicated. Compression springs, knee joints, and roll pins, oh my.
When messing with roll pins, the absolute best investment you can make is a set of roll pin punches and a set of roll pin starter punches. They make life so much easier.
The space between the chain brake lever and the wrap is an important safety feature for kick back. As most are aware, when the saw kicks back the top of your hand hits the chain break lever and trip the break to stop the chain from cutting your face. So when I see guy removing them or bending them right out of the way I cringe. the chain break will make the difference between a wack in the noggin and a severe injury. Just saying. Nobody that has cut trees can say they have never had a kick back. This is a great video. TC Mahalo Tinman🤙🤙🤙
Sometimes a third hand (vise) comes in handy when you are trying to compress something and hold on to it at the same time. Or something that looks so simple is really something quite complicated. Nice work. Stay warm up there eh!
Great video as always 🙏 do these mechanisms need grease? When taking mine apart it seems to be coated in grease, especially the inner spring area. Thanks!
Tinman: just picked up my own early edition 288xp turd saw. I’m not quitting or giving up on it. Took me two days to work up the courage to even peek at the piston through the intake and muffler ports. Meh…could be worse. If all I need to do is a top overhaul I’ll be happy. Got the old metal chain brake, dented and bent of course…. Why do I get myself into these things?
I thought the newer style was tough to work with but the older style is definitely more finicky. Which year 372's or what model used the clutch cover with Husqvarna cast into the side instead of the sticker?
Ive gone threw 14 2000 count boxes of framing and sheathing nails in the best 2 1/2 week thince starting a new house build so I need a fast framing gun bostich for me
Hi there , Can anyone share comment or information on 266xp Swedish built vs. Slovenia built , are the TOMO's built saws of comparable quality to the Swedish built saws , any physical differences? Love the chanel. Best Regards George
@@tinmanssaws ok. Thanks. I purchased an oem clutch cover with the plastic handle found on models after 90 I think. I hope that system works on the saw

Just when I thought you had shown me everything you know, out comes the chain brake wizard 👍

@@tinmanssaws Tinman. Glad I caught you: how do I get that cheap plastic choke on my 288xp without cracking off one of those two tynes?

Can we connect 365 parts to 266xp?
I have a 385cd. Is it the same process?
Very similar
I have a 266xpw it has the old style but no brake band!
Where do you buy your brake bands?
I dig through my parts bins and usually find what I'm looking for.
Tinman: I’ve got a metal inertia brake on an old 288xp. Can I retrofit the plastic brake on the old hardware ?
No they are totally different
