I use these balls a lot! I am a disabled golfer, and my distance and ability to hit the ball well has diminished as my condition worsens. These balls have actually helped me a lot on tee and fairway shots. I replace them on the green with regular Callaway Super Soft balls, and my golf buddies have no issue with me doing that. They really have helped my ability to strike the ball better, and have actually helped me get some distance.

I get hit kind of often when mowing rough but we have a cage around us. Rick, funny story. I typically hit Srixon. Yesterday while looking for my ball in the woods I found this odd looking Calloway ball. Well for the rest of the match I started hitting it. I played very well with it for some reason. It wasn’t until I put it in the ball holder in the golf cart that I realized it was larger than the rest. I had never heard of them before and just so happen that your video today was about them. I just ordered 2 dozen to try out! Thanks for the video. Without much thought I Personally felt like my drives were slightly higher and longer and my chips were on point.

This is a game changer for me & really appreciate you making this review.

Hi Rick, the larger ball does not rotate more often, the reason why you would need to hit it harderd when putting is the higher friction it creates due to the larger contact surface with the grass. It's the same principle as tyres. Wider tyres have a better stopping distance to to a larger contact surface.

Like many of the comments state, this golf ball is incredible. At first I just thought it was a mental thing, but having used it now for a month or so (10 + rounds), I truly believe it has made a difference in my game. I'm anywhere between a 9 - 11 handicap depending on the season and whatnot, but last week (August 2022) I broke par for the first time in my life with a -1 (70).
If you have never played with or seen one of these Callaway SuperSoft MAX balls, you truly won't believe how much bigger they are compared to a normal ball. My buddies flip me a lot of shit, calling it a "beach ball", but it seems to just help me visualize my shots much better.
And surprisingly, this ball has helped the most when it comes to my putting. I'm not the best putter by any means. Before switching over to this ball, I had an issue of "scuffing" my putter on the grass before making contact with the ball, and would seem to do so a couple times per round, very frustrating. However, since switching over to this MAX ball, with it being bigger, I have just told myself to concentrate on hitting the upper half of the ball, and it has made a world of difference.
If you haven't, do yourself a favor and at least try them. They are surprisingly CHEAP in price as well. I believe I paid $25 for a 12-pack here in the States.
Rick is correct in saying that they do seem to go a bit "higher" than a normal PRO-V1, which can sometimes help, or hurt, depending on how well you strike it, but since switching I feel like my consistency has been my most important aspect.

I use these a lot, was given four dozen for a gift. The softness is nice but i shoot the exact same….low 90’s with TopFlight two piece ‘hard’ golf balls and the are 60% less. Personally i got no value from the larger size. No harm either. But yes, you do have to carry them all in your pocket :-)

    • @acegamestv
      @acegamestv 3 года назад

I have not had an issue with that sort of thing, but maybe it depends on the cart.
They really aren't that much bigger honestly. Its remarkable because every other golf ball on the planet is the same size, but you really can barely even tell they are any bigger via the naked eye.
I feel they are targeted at high handicappers, so as one myself I played and recorded an 18 hole review with them if you want to see a different perspective

I use them. Someone told they were easier to hit. I shot a 86 with em and I'm normally a mid 90's player.

I grabbed a dozen of the Yellow ones and must say they are MUCH easier to find than a standard size white ball.
That was the thing I liked the most about them honestly. I really think people are exaggerating about the difference in size. I expected them to be way bigger after seeing these reviews.
As an actual high handicapper, I do feel like they are interesting though.
I took the opportunity to record an 18 hole review with them, if anyone is curios what that perspective might look like!

Well the bigger ball has a higher center of mass meaning that once it gets to the edge of the hole, the center of mass of the ball is further away from the tipping point, making it more likely to fall in

Nope! It is legal! I’ve actually bought a dozen and the box says that it conforms to USGA rules. So at least it is legal here in the US.

Those of us of a certain age will remember when (in 1990) the UK & Eire changed ball size from 1.62" to match the US at 1.68". A review at the time would have read much the same! Could be great for senior golfers and possibly even those with less than perfect eyesight for confidence standing over the ball.

I play the Callaway Magna. 1) you have to hit it harder when putting. 2) pull the flag… I had two birdies hit the flag and bounce away. 3) lift the putter 1/4 inch off the ground to strike the ball equator. I love this ball.

Many have mentioned the Top Flite Magna, but Pinnacle also did this in the 90s. I believe they had two larger sizes.

The previous versions were called the Supersoft Magna and I still have a couple left in my bag. I tried them for a little while just to see if it made much of a difference and it didn't really for me.

I normally play the Callaway Supersoft so I tried these out. Not much difference in performance but I quit playing them due to LOTS of lip-outs. It is definitely not a putter-friendly ball. Rick’s instincts are spot on in this regard.

If putting gets any harder with them, nothing else matters...they stay on the shelf at the store for me. Loved the video as this was something that I didn't know was coming. I knew smaller balls in the 70's (??) was a thing to fight the wind in Europe, but not bigger than standard now.
    Good stuff, keep 'em coming!

Years back, they were handing out 2 packs of Top Flite Magna. I used that ball, and I swear it felt straighter and easier to hit and putt. I am going to try these.
