Jane Morgan was a fabulous talent with a strong lovely voice, a fine range, and a gift for interpreting a song. She was known for "Fascination" and "More" but she could sing any show tune, as she demonstrates here. She was successful in both the US and in France, where she learned to sing impeccably in French. "The Day That the Rain Came Down" was a major hit in both countries, and both the English and French versions are on RUclips -- and both are superb. She was one of the very best.
I remember this as well as anything I've experienced. In my Twenties, watching television, I saw and heard Jayne Morgan perform this live on TV (1966) (I assume it was live and not taped). I had before never heard of Jayne Morgan or this song, didn't know anything about either. I was highly impressed and moved. (I later learned the song was from a movie.) In any event, I spent the rest of my life seeking a recording of Miss Morgan singing 10¢ a Dance. I bought several of her albums hoping to find it. I recently on RUclips found several performances by other artists - but not Jayne. Until Now, Today. Wow - what a delight. Thank You.
now this is one of them stories you run into at 3 am because you got a bad flu with fever and can't sleep, like i do atm. Very interesting to get a glimpse of a complete stranger's life for just a second. Thank you :)
@@glennbourque111 funny how that works isn't it :) I'm curious - did i read that right, you were in your 20s in 1966, doesn't that make you what, 80 ish now? (forgive me my asking - i'm german, we are known for being blunt :p )
@@fritzyG. Your math is correct. I was 27 years young at the time, I recall exactly where I was sitting that evening. I am 80 years old nowadays. My memory is still good, and I still love that song "10¢ a Dance". I have it on my MP3 player to listen when strolling around town. By the way, I toured Germany in the mid-80s. Several cities. Loved it.
@@glennbourque111 Amazing!! I like the thought i'm exchanging little stories with a (former) random 80 yo person at the (supposedly) other end of the world (where you at? US?) - gotta love the possibilities we have, dont you. Why are we so busy complaining when there is SO much to be rather amazed or awed about, i will never understand ^^ Very nice to meet you x
A performer of elegance, beauty and supreme talent.one of the all time greats. Everything she does has class and style. A true artiste and mistress of her craft.

@@fritzyG. For some strange reason I don't sense we are "complete strangers". I feel we connected on something.

The lovely talented JANE MORGAN...an eye full...was this on Jackie Gleason's show??
Yes, that looked like Gleason's stage, as well as the camera fade-out.
A great Rodgers and Hart standard (Ten Cents a Dance).
Tha nks J. morgan✌🏿
What a hair do!
She changed/left out the line…” pansies and rough guys“
Recorded entirely in an empty 55 gallon drum.
