My dad used to sing me this song as a lullaby as a little girl. I can’t wait to get married and dance with my dad at my wedding to this. Imagine my first dance with my husband is “Smoke Gets in your Eyes” ? Nice pairing
This ENTIRE album was great!! I still have it in my 6 disc rotation while driving. I got to meet Ty when I was much younger after a concert in Camden NJ. Such a nice guy and I hope he's doing well these days.
when this song came out, I was at a rodeo and just happened to dance with the most stunning lady, we spent the next 4 years together. . . joined at the hip. did everything together, until I got called away. I guess schedules between rodeo and war don't mix. it may just have been a short while but i'm thankful for this song, it gave me a chance at happiness.
I still have no idea how this wasn't a bigger hit. This is another beautiful song written by Hugh Prestwood, one of my favorite songwriters of all time. This entire album is filled with great songs, though. Ty England is so underrated, especially his ballads.
Just one great song from a underated artist that deserved better recognition and success! A remarkable singer like so many others that never quite made it but thanks for all the fond memories and great songs! So much talent that went by the wayside ! From Australia with best wishes to you all !
@@beverlyhbr6442 Thank you once again for your love towards my music 🎶 Do you mind if we talk somewhere private so I can officially add you to my fans group? I'm not on here much
this was/is a great tune. i still have this cd somewhere. in my opinion the best of country music was from about 1993-98.. it was good tunes like this, JMM, Alan Jackson, McGraw when he was good..those were my favorite years
1995, Houston County Peanut Festival in Dothan, Alabama for me. I’d won front row tickets on a radio station that morning.. this song blew me away, it’s absolutely incredible.
I love this video, great in b and w. I wish he'd done more ballads like this. Very wistful and thougthful.. Someone else posted the video, check it out...
So thankful Ty got away from the poison they call Garth Brooks! Such an underrated talented musician singer artist! I heard this song the day it released on the radio instantly loved it still do 29yrs later and it is still better 29 years later than 99% of the garbage they call country music today in 2024!
Pfft if Ty England was anything special, he'd have written his OWN songs. Ya know, like Garth Brooks. This was the only decent song he ever sang. Now gtfo.
Alot of stars that seemed on the rise in the mid 90's era have vanished. Anyone remember Jeff Copley, had a hit called Evergreen and was the talk of the radio for like three months, never heard from him again.
Blake Shelton also sings this song and it's on his album Barn and Grill. As much as I love Blake Shelton, I must say Conway Twitty sings this song even better. Will always love you Blake Shelton.
Just saw him tonight at the Garth Brooks concert in St. Louis; first night of the stadium tour. He and Garth were college roommates and worked together until Ty went solo. He is playing fiddle for Garth again.
Never heard of Jeff Copley or the song Evergreen, perhaps he was just someone from the local area where you lived. There is no record of Jeff, or the song "Evergreen" on the billboard Country charts
ya he was good....where is he? this song brings me back to very young yrs(like 9 yrs old). neone remember tnn? white horse saloon and music vids....lol....best lunch time hrs ever!
I'm sure that almost anyone who has made a commercial album will come up during a google search. Neither Jeff Copley the Artist, nor the song Evergreen ever appear on the Billboard Country charts, which means the song didn't even crack the top 100. Even the most minor hits will at least crack the top 100 and make an appearance on the chart. It may have been just your local station doing the guy a favor, and playing his song.
@@journeystarr No actually you're wrong again. He was roommates with Garth Brooks in college and was in his band. Heck it's even in his wikipedia! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ty_England
It just means that she sees clearly. It is like saying that she doesn't have her head in the clouds. She isn't blinded by love. She is a realist no longer delusional. Note that the song ends with her planning to say "I love you" first. She isn't frigid or cold at all, just down to earth.

One of the great country songs unknown.
My favorite song. Named my first born Ty. I wish I could find this for digital download.

i haven't heard this song in so long! i love it
Played this in a band . Some great times but now no longer its bitter sweet 😢
If you sit down and listen to the whole album A couple times or maybe even more, you'll like the whole album.
Agreed. This is actually one of my favorite albums of all time.
I still have no idea how this wasn't a bigger hit. This is another beautiful song written by Hugh Prestwood, one of my favorite songwriters of all time. This entire album is filled with great songs, though. Ty England is so underrated, especially his ballads.

I was at a Port st Lucie Florida fair when I saw him in person sing this song! Must have been in 1995...

F.Y.I. im going to marry his son. :-)
howruanyway6 are you being serious or you just wished? Serious question here
Probably has stuck to values, ethics & morals, that's why. I was 15 when this came out.
Didn't go far after he left Garth Brook's band!
Stan Wilson that was Ty Herndon
@@journeystarr No actually you're wrong again. He was roommates with Garth Brooks in college and was in his band. Heck it's even in his wikipedia! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ty_England
That was Ty Herndon not Ty England.
What does "don't have smoke in her eyes" actually mean?
sofreshsoclean75 means she lacks passion and love. You may see her fire, but there's nothing more to it. She has no plans to fall in love.
