    I love the idea that you can always multiply it by keeping 2 tbsp, just like you do with sourdough

    An alternative to your oven method of turning it on and off, what works really well for me is putting it into the oven with the oven light on. It keeps it at the perfect temperature just with the heat from the lightbulb.

    I have a soy milk machine that makes 1/2 gallon at a time, I make it twice to get one gallon. I boil at medium low for 10 - 15 minutes. The milk tastes better, lasts longer in the refrigerator than it did when I used it straight from the machine. the yogurt is thicker than it was before I started boiling it. I usually make 2 or 3 quarts of yogurt and drink the milk. Using the machine is easier than not for me.

    Hi bianca, I put my yoghurt to ferment inside my oven too but I leave the little light on and it produces a constant temperature and works a treat. Thanks for video.

    It's so great that foods like this already include probiotics, so one doesn't have to buy supplements anymore! Also love fermented veggies, yum

    The thing with the possible metallic taste is true... A vegan YT channel suggested using a metal thermos bottle, I tried and the taste sucked. Your recipe is MUCH better, I made the yogurt this past weekend

    Hi again bianca , before becoming vegan I used to make my home made kefir from raw organic milk using live kefir grains, It healed my gut and body after months of anti biotics. I literally asked God for help and found kefir making on line. Of course now vegan, no more stealing the baby calves milk. The probiotics and yeasts in kefir are very different from yoghurt and are amazing for health and though I now make my own soy yoghurt which is loaded with good bacteria, my body started to miss the kefir. Of course the live grains need the lactose to thrive but I’ve made a batch today using freeze dried kefir culture in my home made soy milk and fingers crossed it will work out. The bacteria in kefir is incredible and an amazing live food that heals. I’ll let you know how it turns out. 💚

      That sounds interesting, Christine! Good luck with your project! I want to try water kefir at some point. Fermentation is fun and fermented foods are so healthy. I believe a lot of people could solve their digestion problems if they regularly ate fermented foods!

    Thank you so much! I will try your method. I’ve made it with regular milk and it came out perfect in the yogurt maker. I tried with almond milk and it was too runny. Tonight I’m using coconut milk 🤞🏽 I want to try your recipe and method though. I hope it works out. I’ll keep you updated.

    • @BiancasKitchen
      @BiancasKitchen  5 лет назад +1

      I know, almond milk without any additional binder doesn't work too well. Coconut milk shouldn't be a problem, a lot of people say it works.

    • @veronicasalas2666
      @veronicasalas2666 5 лет назад

      BIANCA'S KITCHEN well the coconut milk was just as runny, if not more. It was lite coconut milk in the can. Maybe I needed to use whole fat coconut milk. Well I’m going to buy my soy milk and plain soy yogurt and try again. I will keep you updated. First, I’m going to try my yogurt maker though. If not, then I will do it your way. I love yogurt and don’t want to give up. 😊👍

    • @BiancasKitchen
      @BiancasKitchen  5 лет назад +2

      Right, I think they do indeed use the whole fat one for coconut yogurt. For my soy yogurt, use regular soy milk, unsweetened and not low fat (you'll hardly see low fat soy milk at stores anyway, only a few brands like West Soy make it). I use Aldi's organic plain soy milk, results are always great!

    Hey Bianca,i just stumbled upon your video,since i am into making my own soy yougurt.
    The thing is that this morning i used 2 cups of soy milk with 2 probiotics capsules,and after 10 hours happened.
    I was thinking that in 8 hours it should be done,but as you said here it needs 2 days,or even more.
    So i will wait for 1&1/2 more days,to reach the desired consistency,since it hasn't gone bad,as i was afraid.
    But i didn't stir it with spoon or fork,because that would give it a metallic taste.
    Should i do it,and if yes,should i do it in the start,or after some hours?
    And something else.
    I remember doing soy yogurt in the summer,with just plain store bought soy milk,and 3-4 tbsp of plain store bought soy yogurt,
    then i left it for 2 days to ferment and it was a success.
    Some days ago i tried the same method,but it had gone bad after 2 days,so i thought i try the probiotics.
    Hope i get an amswer to know what i am doing wrong this time.
    Thank you and have a Happy New Year!

      @BiancasKitchen  4 года назад +1

      Hi, you definitely have to stir it in the beginning, using a wooden spoon or a silicone spatula. If you stir it and still no fermentation happens, you could try a different brand of vegan probiotics. Also, if you ferment it outside the oven the room temperature changes in winter can affect/slow down the process.
      If the yogurt goes bad like it happened to you, the reason is most likely germs in the bowl or in the soy milk or in the place where you ferment it. Fermentation always is a learning process that includes trial and error.
      Good luck and Happy New Year!

      @@BiancasKitchen Thanks a lot for your answer! Maybe i should sterilise my glass jar in the oven next time.
      And give it a stir with my spatula.Oh,and leave it in the oven without opening the door,to let it warm and ferment.
      Those were useful advice,thanks a lot,i appreciate you taking the time.
      Happy New Year you too! 🙏

      You can use any brand that is unsweetened and unflavored. I used Aldi's organic soy milk (Simply Nature, their own brand) and Nancy's soy yogurt.

    Can I substitute the capsules for rejuvelac?

    • @BiancasKitchen

      So far I've never used rejuvelac in anything, so I can't give advice on that. But it's a probiotic liquid, so I think it should be worth a shot. If you try it, please share the results!
