Your breakdown of the song is excellent, and degree of attention to detail is impressive. It's something that I don't think anyone else has consciously thought of at 8:01; you describe why you like doing the high note "a little softer "because it doesn't seem so pushed and desperate - it's desperate, but not VOCALLY desperate" ...perfectly explained. Very astute smart, subtle stuff. I'm taking notes.
Freya, It's really great to have a voice teacher like you that can really demonstrate the vocal options available depending on how you want sound or how you are feeling it. I tend to be a power belter type, and it's refreshing to hear you accepting of it being sung that more belted, full-voiced way.
"Vocally desperate"! Best thing I've heard! :) Thank you for your videos! You are really creative and mixed-up and open. That is really great! :) :):) Looking forward to more of you! :) It's like you are doing all the things I don't have time to experiment with but would love to.
I am practise this song at moment . I try to make the song my own :o).. Thank you so much Freya for bring up this video. To me very useful .. I enjoy to sit here listening to you wonderful voice ..

I love your videos and wish you were my teacher! The problem I have is taking a song I love to sing and being able to transpose the key to fit my range...for example "Because Of You" by Kelly Clarkson. The original key is too high and if I try to hit the higher notes I strain my vocal cords. How do I do this? Or is it possible to achieve a range wide enough to sing in any key? I would love some advice...I'm too poor to afford voice lessons lol, I'm self taught since the age of 4.
I am a self taught singer myself! As a music kid in school, it has always helped me to figure out a note that I can start from and just sing everything with the same note difference.
you're lovely! and really helpfull, I never really though about singing it like it meant something to me... just like, how can I sing something like that when I've never felt that way... than I reminded I'm actually a writer and putting fellings in non real things is not a challenge to me lol
Thanks Freya, this really help. Please could do one on Adagio by Lara fabian, I have also wanted to a cover of the song but I feel am not getting it right, please come to my rescue. Thank yo in advance

Hello, it's me
I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet
To go over everything
They say that time's supposed to heal ya, but I ain't done much healing
Hello, can you hear me?
I'm in California dreaming about who we used to be
When we were younger and free
I've forgotten how it felt before the world fell at our feet
There's such a difference between us
And a million miles
Hello from the other side
I must've called a thousand times
To tell you I'm sorry for everything that I've done
But when I call, you never seem to be home
Hello from the outside
At least I can say that I've tried
To tell you I'm sorry for breaking your heart
But it don't matter, it clearly doesn't tear you apart anymore
Hello, how are you?
It's so typical of me to talk about myself, I'm sorry
I hope that you're well
Did you ever make it out of that town where nothing ever happened?
It's no secret that the both of us
Are running out of time
So hello from the other side (other side)
I must've called a thousand times (thousand times)
To tell you I'm sorry for everything that I've done
But when I call, you never seem to be home
Hello from the outside (outside)
At least I can say that I've tried (I've tried)
To tell you I'm sorry for breaking your heart
But it don't matter, it clearly doesn't tear you apart anymore
Ooh (lows, lows, lows, lows), anymore
(Highs, highs, highs, highs)
Ooh (lows, lows, lows, lows), anymore
(Highs, highs, highs, highs)
Ooh (lows, lows, lows, lows), anymore
(Highs, highs, highs, highs)
Anymore (lows, lows, lows, lows)
Hello from the other side (other side)
I must've called a thousand times (thousand times)
To tell you I'm sorry for everything that I've done
But when I call, you never seem to be home
Hello from the outside (outside)
At least I can say that I've tried (I've tried)
To tell you I'm sorry for breaking your heart
But it don't matter, it clearly doesn't tear you apart anymore

How do you pull out your vocal chords and still sound natural?
You are gorgeous!
The fully belted chorus gives me such Kate Bush vibes
Hi I’m having trouble singing the belted part loudly. I don’t know if you sing but if you do could you please give me some tips.
Nice
