    Wow! I do slip-stitch joins all the time but have never seen it done like this. This is ingenious, Esther! The only thing that shows is the top V. The rest of the stitch is hidden, I presume because you keep the yarn underneath the squares. Also, the way you slip stitch through the back square is new to me (coming into the stitch from the back). This makes the join look incredibly smooth. Can't wait to try this join on my next afghan made with squares! Thank you for this new way to join!

      This is my favorite joining method. I like how the join is totaly flat, it gives a very professional finish.

    It would make sense when joining to frame it each one with the white. By the way, Ester. I am truly greatfull for you, for many reasons. In this caotic world, it's wonderful to have your soothing voice at the end of the day. hugs!!!

      For Nuts about Squares I envisioned an invisible seam so that the squares pop more. But if you want to use a different color for the join please do, it is your blanket 😊

    Helpful hint. As you are working through the horizontal joins, secure the vertical seams with the stitch markers. It keeps everything nice, straight and in line while you complete all the Horizontal. It ensures there is no "twisting."

    I happened upon this series of videos by chance. I was just so impressed and inspired, I decided to learn how to crochet so I could make a blanket using the Nuts About Squares that I liked (some I am not using because I don't really like them) SO, I have been working for a few months on this project and am making progress, especially since it is the first time I have ever crocheted. I decided to review the video detailing how to join the squares and started thinking about all the squares I have made (20 so far and I need 35 for my project) And I realized the total stitch count on my squares are all different. I started to freak out because I know I followed your videos to the letter. I began to think, "boy you must be an idiot, all your squares are different, how are they ever going to join together???" THEN, I happened onto your website and dug a little deeper. Imagine my surprise to find a SECOND video that says to add ANOTHER row of stitches!!!!! I am about to lose my shit here. I have watched your videos ( and I must say they are incredible and you are fantastic) BUT WHY IN THE NAME OF JESUE WOULD YOUN SAY "that's the end of this square, block it..." WHEN THERE WAS STILL ANOTHER ROW OF STITCHES TO DO???? I have already blocked my blocks. Can I now ADD another row of stitches and then REBLOCK??? I really wish you would reference the second video in your first videos. Not everyone finds your video by going to your website. I found all of your videos on youtube and started. With no reference to the additional videos, it puts things in jeopardy.

      Each video has to be stand alone because it's by a different designer. If you followed the playlist for this project you would have seen the extra row. If you had read the description in the videos you would have seen the extra row.
      You dont have to reblock, just add the extra row to get all squares to 44 stitches. The stitch count is also important for the border.

      Perhaps my confusion came because I am only doing 7 of the squares and did not know to watch the entire group of videos. It amy be helpful to reference the added row in the first video for people, like myself, who only find your videos on RUclips. Thank you so much for your response and the added info about not needed to reblock.

    I was really pleased with myself for making all these beautiful, complicated squares. I have just started joining them up and it is driving me crazy. You make it look so easy on the video Esther but for some reason I cannot get any rhythm! My wool keeps splitting, I think it is picking up the 2nd loop "backwards" At this rate I will still be joining next year!

      Of all else fails, join in a method that works for you. For example do a sc join .

    OK, so 2 things. First, I done this CAL and Mandala Madness using your videos and I would LOVE TO SEE A PHOTO OF YOU AND YOUR CAT. Number 2, I used stitch markers to pin the adjoining (the vertical row while joining the horizontal rows)squares together so they don't get twisted.

    • @Itsallinanutshell
      @Itsallinanutshell  7 лет назад

      Yes, stitch markers are a great help.

    Hi Esther I found that if I put stitch marker safety clips on the joined corners of each square as I joined, the blanket didn’t twist around too much. I found that it kept my squares in order and easier to attach. Thought this suggestion might help. Thank you for sharing your tutorials enjoyed crocheting along with you.

    Ester, geweldige video's! Het maakt het echt een stuk gemakkelijker om de patronen te volgen. Maar nu.... aan het einde heb ik toch een probleem. Ik ben linkshandig en ik krijg het maar niet voor elkaar om die allereerste steek te maken zodat de draad er tussen in blijft voor de flat zip steek😁 Heb je een tip voor mij?

    • @Itsallinanutshell
      @Itsallinanutshell  7 лет назад

      Deze sluiting werd ook gebruikt voor de Last Dance CAL. Daar heb ik een linkshandige video voor. Misschien dat dit je helpt met die eerste steek. ruclips.net/video/Cgo72WwLIeo/видео.html

    Hi Esther, i've enjoyed all your videos. You explain everything so clearly. Thank you so much. I've started joining my squares, and now after the first row (double row) i've noticed i started the wrong way- 5 pairs insted of 7 (virticly not horizontal) how critical is it? Can i continue in the same direction or recomand undoing it all?

    • @Itsallinanutshell
      @Itsallinanutshell  4 года назад

      not critical at all, i just prefer doing the long edges first because they take more time. then i feel that the blanket suddenly comes together when i do the short rows after

  • @piewicked

    when you stich squares together how do you recommend to do the corners? thx for your instructions

    • @Itsallinanutshell
      @Itsallinanutshell  3 года назад

      i do a slip stitch the corner stitches also. when you cross the join a second time, i also make a slip stitch, so corners have 2 ss in them
