Ok so Choc fun fact when you played super stars the first time you picked act Tails for frozen base zone when you went against the bird like boss ( 1:04:51 ) that was act 1 if you didn’t chose act Tails because I did the same thing and when I played this game with my dad I picked act 1 and it was this act so I’m happy I could tell you
I’m convinced that the final boss is the reason this game doesn’t have a lives system. Imagine getting a game over and having to repeat the stage again, and then getting ANOTHER GAME OVER. What I’m trying to say is, SCREW THIS FINAL BOSS
The Final Boss is easy after you memorize all the attack pattern and make smart usage of the emerald powers (they refresh between phases). However, I highly doubt anyone play tested the True Final Boss of this game! Imagine losing and having repeat everything from start because of BAD RNG!!! They really put the worst part of Mania's Egg Reverie and made the arena bigger. The amount of rings you have is dependent on your luck.
@@MustafizurRahman-sp1yymaybe, I’m not the best at Classic Sonic games, but come on. A 6-8 minute boss with abysmal pacing and having 2/3 of its attacks being insta death is pretty cheap
@@CanaldoZenny exactly. And no amount of “skill” will override this game’s RNG. I love Superstars and want a wholly refined sequel where these sit-and-wait bosses are cut out completely.
36:12 When it comes to older games, always d-pad since most of them were only coded to have digital inputs, thus only 8 directions. In that case an analog stick doesn't provide any extra accuracy. For modern games, it depends on what I feel is most comfortable but it's usually still the d-pad for 2d games.
I loved Trip's campaign but damn this was one hell of a hard mode to get through...glad there were no lives in this game 😓 Honestly I am excited to definitely see Sage and Trip more in future games 🙌
Let’s be honest, they’re going to turn Trip into a newer example of Mighty and Ray. In other words, *Trip is going to be forever confined to the Classic games and is also probably never gonna come back aside from legacy bonus appearances*
Pikopiko hammer/ピコピコハンマー is literally what squeaky hammers are called in Japanese. It's not a Sonic thing, Sega just decided to leave in untranslated for some reason, probably to make it feel like Amy's own weapon.
To be honest, outside of the overabundance of instakills, I really didn't find the final bosses to be that bad. I felt that they were tough, but I also felt like I was learning something new from my failures, and felt satisfied as heck once I triumphed. My tone would probably very different if lives were still a thing, but they aren't, so I actually enjoyed the fights.
Idk if someone commented or not but either way… Trip’s campaign doesn’t actually have more acts in Frozen Base, instead you guys accidentally skipped Act 1 and went straight to Act Tails in your 2 player video lmao.
D-pad all the way, especially for 2D games. I even prefer the D-pad for some 3D games, if they let me use it. The very idea of playing a side-scrolling platformer with the control stick makes me feel ill.
Im glad they immediately gave up on the two worlds canon after a single game. Its just way more convoluted because people dont understand where the boundaries are drawn, like when Castlevania was split into two seperate timelines, likee when the Mario RPG serieses were quarantined to their own timelines, like when zelda had a three way split.
I really enjoyed Sonic Superstars! ^_^ I'm had a ton of fun with the new level designs and aesthetics (with the possible exception of Press Factory), the new songs and Trip's gameplay. I would even say I enjoyed the final bosses, the pattern recognition and gradually feeling myself getting better at these fights was awesome, although for me the robos definitely would've benefitted from having mid-battle checkpoints or for it taking less hits to get to the next phases. It's hard to say where this ranks in Sonic for me; I just played Origins for the first time after finishing Superstars so it's a little too fresh for me to rank the Classic 2D Sonics vs. this. All I can say is that while Mania is still currently my favorite 2D Sonic, I had a really good time with Superstars and look forward to coming back to it :)
I just got done Fang's battle today and I really enjoyed it! Sure I do think it could've used its own act or a checkpoint in between phases, but it along with the main story's final boss really felt good to think of weird ways to use the emerald powers. (Also tip for those who don't know, for both final bosses, your Emerald Powers regenerate between phases, so you can use them at least twice per boss, one for each phase.)
Maaaan watching you guys suffer at the hands of Fang lol, I was in the same boat. Literally spent 2 hours trying to beat him and just couldn't and gave up for the night. The fight was so cheap and infuriating. Came back to it the next day and after another hour, I was able to beat him. Never would I ever want to go back to Egg Fortress Act 2. The bosses overall really brought the whole game down for me. I'd say this game is okay at best but is a good start to build off of for future 2D Sonic games. Sonic Mania and Sonic 3 & Knuckles are still peak 2D Sonic games.
I usually use the d pad whenever I play a 2d platformer even most modern ones, it feels way more precise, maybe the fact that I play a lot of fighting games has helped that. (Sorry for any instances of bad english)
This is Sonic Dark Souls and no one can convince me otherwise! Bosses are insanely difficult and play nothing like classic sonic bosses. That being said, its fun but i wish bosses were their own stages.
I remember feeling so proud after conquering Stormy Ascent in Crash 1 after 3 or so hours. The triumph was worth all the pain. Fang took me 6 hours. I just felt empty when it was over.
The lack of explanation for Eggmans time flipping machine, filled with..what? Trips story with the Egg Robo and Fang, and also the Final Boss coming out of nowhere, make me wonder if they had some supplementary material that didn't end up getting released, or their time for development was cut short.
Fang would have been a great fight if you weren't forced to wait centuries before being able to attack him. Just like every other Superstars bosses, but at least you won't die often against them. Fang however...
Also if choc does sonic mania encore mode, good luck on getting all the chaos emeralds, cause the encore mode emerald stages do not mess around, especially #2 and #7.
Me: worried smiling as it didn't take me that long to beat fang, and enjoyed my time fighting him more than eggman I am starting to believe that if you were an actual fang fan then this battle wouldn't be so bad to you xD to everyone who struggled I'm so sorry he kicked your ass so many times.
They need to patch that shit like yesterday. The ring drop RNG is so bad. Still Arzest's best game and considering they made Balan Wonderworld, it's the ultimate comeback.
The fang boss has some cool moves but instakill for no reason makes it so u essentially have to be perfect which is just blatant bs in addition to the fight taking an average of 8minutes sometimes to complete only to be killed instantly by something that you have split seconds to react to. I actually like a challenge in games especially brutal difficulty that feels rewarding to overcome but this felt empty and pointless. It also took me no joke 4 hours to beat as I'd go for an hr quit then have to start the level over. Thx SEGA it genuinely dropped my enjoyment of the game significantly as it was required for the true ending
How did Trip and Amy appear during the Super Sonic fight? I had to do that final boss like seven times before I beat it and I didn’t see Trip and Amy once 🤔
Great. Now I'm having mixed feelings about Sonic Superstars! On the one hand, it's such a good game! But on the other, the zones are so long, and Eggman's Robots exist! And so does Fang!
I swear Trip and the Last story, especially the the Fang boss fight and the Dragon almost made me rage quit the game. I’m not a Sonic fan btw, but it was an interesting way of getting back into Sonic.
