The new 2014 Nissan Qashqai is the best small SUV or crossover you can buy. It builds on the Qashqai's original strengths by offering 4x4 styling but with space and running costs to rival a Volkswagen Golf. See the video review for more info.

I love how close this guy sits to the steering wheel. No matter what car, he sits two feet too high with his knackers brushing the bottom of the wheel in ultimate van man style.

After seeing a few recent comments about hoping this come to the US as the New Rogue or this is better than the Rogue Nissan sales in North America I wanted to comment that this is the New Rogue for the US. The commercials are running all day everyday (where I live at least). The previous Qashqai was better looking the the previous Rogue so maybe that's the confusion. So checkout the Rogue reviews all over RUclips all you folks wishing for a US version of the Qashqai, because its here.

Their diesel cars are anything but quiet. I have owned the new Qashqai for one year now, it's the popular 1.5 diesel engine. It is the most noise producing engine I have ever driven - in five years of motoring. It sounds so agricultural in all revs (both high end and low end) and very very clattery around town, sounding like an old bus! And the wind-whistle is horrendous. I agree it has a very classy interior, loads of space, very practical, feels safe on the road and looks amazing. At motorway speeds it's a brilliant cruiser and very economical. But alas I think the hype around this vehicle cannot be met in real world situations. And after a year of ownership (from new showroom delivery) and driven sensibly and well looked after, I feel qualified to share a more balanced view :-) Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic car. But like many others, it's got it's flaws. And the awful engine noise for me was a deal breaker. I'm selling it on after a year and getting something else.

Has it same feature as 2012 (or was it 2013)? Its stearing wheel comes off when you drive into traffic lights.

Mine has had problems with the parking sensors for nine months ...7 others at the same dealership with the same problem
The sensors have been changed twice but Nissan still have no fix
I have been a loyal Nissan customer but this is the last one I will buy
The Nissan Customer care is hopeless and ,I believe since going in with Renault the cares are released before competing proper testing and trial

Just got back from the supermarket, was parked outside with large vans either side of me which meant zero visibility and I had to reverse out of my parking spot onto a main road. So glad I didn't buy the Quashquai (or however the hell you spell it). I bought the Skoda Yeti instead, which has great all round visibility and no strange pillars.
With the pillar in the Qashqai where it is, there'd have been no way I'd have gotten out of there safely.
The Subaru XV and Forester also have good visibility. Just something to consider when buying a car like this. Just thought I'd comment because when I was looking for a car the Qashqai was on my shortlist.

tattoodrdoke just been driving a Peegeot 2008 for a couple of weeks. It also has a pretty big blind spot at each rear corner. Was reversing at one point with no trucks or cars either side and didn't even see a Mini Cooper behind me. Yes, you have to be careful with these funky designs. It's a safety issue. What's your problem in telling people to take that into account??

The video annotated that the tested unit had a 1.2L NA (suppose is an I4) and the soon-to-be-optional would be about 164hp T-1.6L (a weakened version of the similarly-sized 188hp that the smaller Juke gets in NoAm).
So, the 1.2L does need a lot of RPM's to pull over 1400 kg. (3080 lb.) of the FWD unit...

  • @swatisquantum

Are we getting this in the USA? This is so much nicer than the Rogue!

    • @syxepop
      @syxepop 10 лет назад

With some exceptions, like some specific EU-mandated safety requirements (+ the normal suspension changes from EU tuning to NoAm's), the optional 3rd row (more like jump seats for children) and the more powerful (as compared to EU's options) 2.5L NA I4 (still @ 175hp, same as in gen 1, but with lesser fuel consumption) this is the '14 Rogue, as it is sold in NoAm. The 1st gen's is still being sold in NoAm as the Rogue Select, at a lower price (starting @ just over US$20K).

The original Qashqai looked good and you can tell they actually spent some time working on the design.
But this thing just looks like any other boring 4x4-esq car and will just blend into the background like a stick insect on a branch.

Twist beam rear suspension to save weight (35kg) and therefore save on Co2. Ummmm right… ok sure. Cheap Nissan just wants to save on money and make more of it.

***** I have the impression this car has been rushed here's why :
My friend has one , the Parking censures keep going off even when he is in the Motorway doing 70 MPH its a 1 month old car I was trying to establish if this is common problem
      (it is)
      www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/nissan/qashqai/hatchback/owner-reviews#owner-reviews
I m worried because Nissan does not seem to know how to fix this problem and the car my engage on Emergency Brake in the motorway

Yeah, even "what car" magazine gave this car top marks but, the owners (who have had the car for a lot longer) are reporting issues with the electrics etc. I really want to get one of these but maybe I'll go for the Mazda CX 5 instead.
