1:51 You got it the other way around. The FX30 will give relatively more depth of field. More “depth of field” means more is in focus. “Depth of field” doesn’t just mean “blurry background”
Gerard - This is actually the initial video of yours that I watched as it came up in a search I did in the RUclips search bar looking for comparison info on the Sony A6xxx line of micro 4Thirds cameras. (I watched another 3 or 4 of em' too) I've literally been bathing in videos & websites about comparisons & digging through specs & websites for months on end. Thank heavens I am enthusiastic & excited about cameras - otherwise it would have been real crap, man. - Even so - it's gettin' about to the point where I've just about had it FFS. I prolly would've just shrugged my shoulders & bought somethin' already if it weren't for the fact that i'm flat flippin' broke. It's the one time I can think of where not having a dime to my name has truly benefitted me in the long run, since for the last 4 or 5 weeks I had, for the most part, came to the conclusion to go with one of the Lumix cameras - largely due to it being the cheapest 4k60p camera available on the market (I'll likely try to buy whatever I get on the used market in hopes of scoring an extra lens out of the deal, or some of the inevitable necessary streaming doodads/gear) I ran across some GREAT content related to the Sony A6xxx lines last week - & over the last few days watched a bunch of side by side comparisons of 4k/1080p content - as well as content of the same res but different framerates - & the difference was barely perceptible. DEFINITELY not enough for me to be basing my whole decision on it. The Auto-Focus & Color science has such a massive4 impact on the outcome of the content, whether still or video, & while I DO like the canon color science (fuji as well) Just a bit better than Sony, The Sony Auto Focus is just so much better than the rest. Add that to the fact that Canon is pulling the dick move of the century & not allowing 3rd party vendors to make lenses - so you not only have very few to choose from - but what's available is expensive as all hell - & the Sony really feels like a no brainer. I've never done any color grading of any kind & i do think the added profiles in the 6600 may help me out a bit - But in the end - whether I get the a6400 or the a6600 will depend on what happens to be available on eBay or Facebook marketplace the moment I actually have enough scratch to buy the damn thing. I sure dig your content, you really helped me finally make a damn decision - admittedly though - the lovely subject matter in your videos made watching your content & learning what i needed to one HELL of a lot more enjoyable. Don't understand why you've only got 2k subscribers - with any luck, that'll change in no time. Just keep it up with the shorts & keep throwing up content mate. Hey man, thanks for the awesome comment. I think if you really want to buy a camera go for it! But for me and what I tell people is the best camera isn’t the one you can afford, it’s the one you can afford to brake! Say you get a job and the camera brakes, you need a back up, you also need to be able to replace the camera! Also, if your to Precious with the camera you’ll never use it. Have a great week
Would have been nice to see a straight up comparison between A7iv S35 mode vs the FX30. Things like noise and colour through the ISO range for example. Also, for anyone keen on RAW video, RAW = 1:1 pixel readout. Meaning the FX30 will be reading into a sensor size of roughly a mft or smaller. It basically becomes a GH6 with autofocus.

Do you think I'll be able to get the fx30 to match the a6600's well enough and if so what do you suggest, maybe just use no picture profile on fx30 unless I plan on color grading? And perhaps a separate question, is there a profile that will get the most dynamic range with a particular profile that doesn't require grading?

Crazy that there are some A7IV that over heat easily and other that do not. I got the one that over heats all the time even in Mild conditions. I cannot not imagine in Australia or Miami at all. Albeit I shoot 60p 4K almost 99% of the time. I have all the high setting set on and the monitor always flipped out etc etc but it over heats all the time. Almost every shoot. Totally a bummer!
