Thank God for people like Joe that rescued this rare Mopar and was able to breathe new life into her for the world to see in person and not just pictures in a book lost to time!
Lou, that is one rare and beautiful MoPar! Chrysler, in my opinion, has always been the leader in rare and innovative ways to make their cars go FAST! Chrysler certainly proved it at the track during the 1960's. The 413, 426 Wedge, 426 Hemi, 440 Magnum, 440 Six Pack, 383 Magnum, 340 Six Pack, Legends All ! Don't forget the Golden Commando Hemi's in the 1950's!
Nice! Top up or down, this one looks fantastic and plenty of power for the strip or the street, too. Another rare one we'd probably never get the chance to see without this channel. Thanks, Lou!
A great car. How beautiful and advanced the car industry was back then in the US. It's great to watch these road cruisers, with nostalgia and longing for an era that has passed. Respect for the owner for resurrecting it and keeping it from oblivion.
Thank you for bringing us another iconic car from a bygone era. The dashboard is a work of art, unlike today whereby all you see are touchscreens. A Max Wedge engine draws crowds at any auto show, unlike the plastic covered engines of today.
Thanks for posting Lou. Great work by Joe in restoring this rarity. Amazing to think that Mopar went to great lengths to modify the engine bays to accommodate the Max Wedge. In the middle of a Model Year. And for just a handful of vehicles.
WOW. Spectacular car Joe. Every inch is special but I'll mention the interior. The metal features and details are beautiful. Lost forever as interiors changed over to all plastic. Thanks for bringing it to us Lou.
On a recent Leave it to Beaver episode, Uncle Billy was visiting and he was driving a RED Plymouth Sport Fury! Looked just like this car! Well Done Lou! A true Classic!
Gotta be the coolest name for any engine EVER! Such an oddball looking car back then. The styling is still polarizing today but, much loved by those who appreciate them.
Hello again, Lou! It is such a wonderful treat to see a '62 Sport Fury convertible. It was rare when new (1,516 were made); that is the biggest reason why you don't see many today. It is more than 60 years old, after all. I thought I heard the owner say that there are only two known to survive, so the chances of seeing one now is awfully slim! (I did see a '62 Fury _(not a Sport Fury)_ convertible in the Baltimore area in the late 1980s; I haven't seen it since then.) That red and black interior is awesome; as is the instrument panel. I saw quite a few '62 Plymouths when I was a child, and I thought they looked rather odd, especially at the front. I couldn't help thinking, "Are those headlights in the grille, or are those gigantic parking lamps?" Today, they're not all that bad looking, because you simply don't see that many! This would have been Ward Cleaver's "mid-life crisis" special; I wonder how June, Wally, and The Beaver would have felt about that! 😀. Anyway, thanks once again, Lou, and keep those videos coming! _(3/4/2023)_
My Dad's first car was a 1962 Plymouth Sport Fury Two-Door Hardtop. It was three years old when my Grandfather bought the car from their neighbor. It belonged to his wife and only had 11,000 miles on the odometer. Fully loaded with Air Conditioning, Power Windows, a 361 C.I. V-8, and a Torqueflight 3-speed pushbutton transmission. It was Silver Blue with a Blue/White Interior. He told me they paid $1,800.00 for the car because that is what the Chrysler dealer offered them on a trade for a 1965 Chrysler New Yorker. He loved that car!
Joe shows a lot of love for his Plymouth by keeping it in such pristine condition. Those old MOPARs did not like cold weather or extreme heat also. Very temperamental. That can be fixed with a Holey Sniper set-up. But once they got started they could smoke those tires! Thanks to Joe for the MOPAR history lesson. Thanks for posting Lou. Have a blessed day.
@@frankparks4900 Are you referring to me as a Jack Ass? I'm far from it. I'm a Christian man that serves in my church and I served for 20 years on active duty with the US Navy. Those old MOPARs were very temperamental. If a person wanted to make it a daily driver out of one they need to upgrade the ignition and fuel system. That is all I'm stating. The Plymouth is beautiful and well restored. I hope Joe has many miles of happy driving. Everyone have a wonderful life and be blessed by our Lord Jesus Christ.
My parents had that car in the 4dr sedan and we loved it! I was 3 yo and I remember going to the dealership to pick it up! My earliest memory. Sport Fury’s are extremely rare. My parents car was a Sport Fury with the 413 V8 4bbl
Once again your videos bring back memories. One of the kids I grew up with had a 63 Sport Fury convertible. His was originally a 318 but his dad was in the used car business and his mechanic put a 413 cross ram engine in it out of a Wrecked Chrysler 300. Another one of my High School buddies dad had a 62 Savoy with a 431 max wedge in it. It was still a street terror in 1969 when we graduated form high school.

Doesn't get much more rare than that! I'm betting that 413 produces a wee bit more HP and torque than 'advertised' ;) Stunning example and incredible story to bring it back to life!
Wow! What a treasure! Yes, there was some controversy of the B-body Furys/Belvederes/Savoys, mainly due to the reduction in the dimensions of the cars but on the roads they were top beasts. Cars like these started Mopar drag terror... This view 7:54 is absolutely top! And 10:25, it's not just the sound of an engine but the roar of a tiger!
It's sure nice to see someone with the wherewithal and ability see something like this to the end. Many cars like this end up in the land of good intention and are never completed and left to chances. No word of a lie Lou, When I read the introduction (1962 Plymouth Fury…413 Max Wedge) I thought there can’t been many of those made! Then to hear they only made 13 and only 2 survive, that’s cool! Great find Lou!
Good day Lou, Just amazing & high praise to Joe for saving this Sports Fury. The colour combination is absolutely amazing & to top it off a genuine 413 Max Wedge. Got to love those long runner intake manifold, & the ram horn exhaust manifold. Red cars always go faster & this one does. Thank you for sharing Cheers Louis Kats your number 1 Fan in Australia. 👍 🇦🇺 😀 🇺🇸
Good Day Louis, High praise for the looks of this restored car :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you. You're welcome. Thanks for being my # 1 Fan in Australia. Cheers, Lou
Beautiful Fury. I like the fact the exhaust tips are hidden as they should be . Beautiful wheel covers. Wish you spent more time on the interrior. Shes a cream puff!
Stunning Fury. And, whenever I see a Plymouth or Dodge with a 413, you have to circle back to one of the Beach Boys' great car influenced tunes - "Shut Down". That song tells the drag racing story of a fuel injected Stingray going up against a Super Stock Dodge with the "Four - Thirteen". " " They're revvin' up their engines and it sounds real mean "" The Stingray gets the checkered flag in the end. ; )
This would have been competition for the 62 Impala 409,4 bbl. Cars like these aren't fast by today's standards but in 62 they'd sure get you to the malt shop & Betty Lou home before 11:30! Lol
Always loved that Crazy design...very nice it's a Screamer...only thing I love (which it doesn't have) is the square steering wheel...although this one is attractive. Thanks Joe and Lou!
I’m probably a minority on this opinion, but I always liked the ‘62 Plymouth Fury and the ‘62 Plymouth Valiant. I know a lot of people who didn’t care for the look, but I liked the horizontal detail near the top of the fenders. On the Fury, it was accented by a thin chrome strip that really made it pop!
Lou another great story I’m just courteous wat times did it do in the quarter mile back in its day this is the first one I have seen man thanks again for the eye candy Lou
Hi Dominick, Happy to read you enjoy this story. Not sure what 1/4 mile times this car would perform. My pleasure sharing the eye candy with you. You're welcome, Lou
Designed by Virgil M. Exner Sr. in the fall of 1960, after he had his assistant Cliff Voss complete design of the 1961 Plymouth. Exner followed the rear deck design of Voss' 1961 Plymouth, but took a clean sheet of paper to design this one, along with the 1962 Dodge. He followed his "asymmetrical" design theme on the dash, the instrument panel layout. The result is a completely new and beautiful modern post-fins design, which you either loved or hated. I love it, although it is totally different from all previous Plymouth designs, and a marked difference from his Forward Look tailfins cars of 1955-1960. The styling is similar to Exner's 1962 Dodge Polara concept, and bears a family resemblance to the economy cars,, the 1960-62 Plymouth Valiant and Dodge Lancer cars with the horizontal edges. Those cars were designed in 1958, and were similar to Exner's 1959 proposal for the 1962 DeSoto which was thrown in the dumpster. The "Max Wedge" 413-V8 Chrysler engine with cross-Ram Induction and dual quads, is awesome! It's a different configuration to the original 1960 383 and 413 cross-Ram Induction manifold which was perpendicular to the shape of the car, this one is diagonal. With push-button Torqueflite. Congratulations, Joe, on a fantastic restoration and documentation on the car's history, and thanks Lou for bringing this car to the party!

Jane Hathaway drove this car, minus the wedge in the fir season of the Beverly Hillbilles. I love the so called ugly duckling cars ❤. Neat car, rare rare rare, and very cool.
C'mon Lou. A Model T, may have an open roof, but pulling out of the driveway in this Fury, would be an entirely different experience. I'm giving credit to the guy(?) that spec'd this one out for build.@@loucostabile
The brake lights and turn signals only worked on the outer 2 taillights, the in board tail lights only lit up when the park and/or head lights were on. Lesser Plymouths had only one tail light on each side and cars with manual transmissions didn’t have back up lights.

Just curious where the owner orders parts for the W31. ? Where does a person order the stickers and chaulk to detail the chassis? Is there a book that shows how the chassis Is detailed? I own a 1970 W31 red over white with 32,000 actual miles. Car is awesome
How can anyone junk one of these? Especially, when they didn't get into a wreck. That there are only two left (one, if it hadn't been Joe rescuing this one) is a scandal of massive proportions. 413 cubes are more than plenty, for that size a car. That has to be my Mopar Holy Grail
Back in the early 1960s, this car was regarded as being just plain weird-looking!....But I secretly admired Chrysler, for offering such a variety of vehicles--and their engine line-up was ahead of the others, when it came to big-block power!..I even liked the look of the New Yorker models of that era. You just do not see many of these interesting vehicles on the road, as they had a reputation for rusting out pretty quick.
declining numbers at an even rate / at the count of 1 we both accelerate / my Stingray is light the slicks are starting to spin , but the 413 s really diggin in .................."Shut Down" Beach Boys/ Roger Christian March 1963
Thank God for people like Joe that rescued this rare Mopar and was able to breathe new life into her for the world to see in person and not just pictures in a book lost to time!

" " They're revvin' up their engines and it sounds real mean "" The Stingray gets the checkered flag in the end. ; )
Hi Dave, High praise. Happy to read this brings memories of the Beach Boys song :-) Thanks for viewing and sharing, Lou
Beautiful car !
Not my favorite color but still beautiful, even in red .
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
This is what a car is supposed to be
:-)
This would have been competition for the 62 Impala 409,4 bbl. Cars like these aren't fast by today's standards but in 62 they'd sure get you to the malt shop & Betty Lou home before 11:30! Lol
Hi Richard, Thanks you for sharing, Lou
Always loved that Crazy design...very nice it's a Screamer...only thing I love (which it doesn't have) is the square steering wheel...although this one is attractive. Thanks Joe and Lou!
Hi CJ Design, Happy to read you enjoy this "Screamer" :-) You're welcome, Lou
Hey Lou, where is Miss Hathaway, is she on her way to pick up Mr. Drysdale!! Lol Great Video Thanks 🙏
Hey Big Mountain, I did not see her, so she must be at the Bank :-) You're welcome, Lou
Lou, you find the best cars! What a honey!!!
Hi Todd, Happy to read you enjoy the selection I'm sharing with you. Lou
Happy to read " I always liked the ‘62 Plymouth Fury and the ‘62 Plymouth Valiant." :-) NICE!
Great save! Don't know, would someone, normally race a convertible?
Hi Uri, Well if it's got a Max Wedge...YES :-) Lou
So cool. Thanks Joe.
Happy to read "So cool" :-)
My buddy had a 63 Valiant he sold it and picked up a 71 Scamp, also a Valiant, I believe. They were both fun cars.
Hi Jon C, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Buddy's car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Hi Donald, I've heard of Joe and his cars for a while and very happy to share this car with you. Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
Wow, super nice Plymouth - very exceptional! Thanks!
Hi Bruce H., High praise :-) You're welcome, Lou
Another very very nice car. Love the Fury's.
Hi Redeemed, Happy to read "Love the Fury's" :-) Lou
Absolutely Beautiful ! Way to go ! 👍
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
The GTO was the first self-aware muscle car, but these Max Wedge cars were far superior performers two years earlier.

Torquey because of the intake length. Art on wheels.
Hi Dennis, Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Happy to read you think this car is "Art on wheels" :-) Lou
Thats my kind of car, great show Lou.👍👍,
Happy to read this is your kind of car Philip :-)
Jane Hathaway drove this car, minus the wedge in the fir season of the Beverly Hillbilles. I love the so called ugly duckling cars ❤. Neat car, rare rare rare, and very cool.
Hi Jeffrey, Happy to read you enjoy the rarity of seeing this car :-) Lou
@@loucostabile I really like the looks of this car too. They were seen, still are as ugly but I love them. Valiant too! Mopars rock.
I know the designer for this new body style at the time was ultimately fired, but this is a beautiful car!
Hi Bill, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
Somebody long ago decided that the underhood music did not deserve to be muted by a roof. What a sensation it must be, at any speed.
...the 1st cars didn't have a roof, and doors either.
C'mon Lou. A Model T, may have an open roof, but pulling out of the driveway in this Fury, would be an entirely different experience. I'm giving credit to the guy(?) that spec'd this one out for build.@@loucostabile
Цікаве авто! І його історія теж цікава! Виглядає фантастично! Дякую!
Hi Сергій Шамін, Happy to read you think the looks are "fantastic" :-) Glad you enjoy the interesting story too, Lou
always great video.
Thank you.

Hi Jeff, Happy to read "Car is awesome" :-) I'm not sure where you get those items. Hoping a Viewer can share knowledge, Lou
Beautiful ////////////////////////////
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
How can anyone junk one of these? Especially, when they didn't get into a wreck. That there are only two left (one, if it hadn't been Joe rescuing this one) is a scandal of massive proportions.
413 cubes are more than plenty, for that size a car.
That has to be my Mopar Holy Grail
Hi Al_Dente, High praise for your "Mopar Holy Grail" :-) Lou
Awesome review! Thanks, Lou. Oh, BTW, let me know when you want to feature my 2020 100th Anniversary MX-5 Miata. I'll await your phone call. 🙂🙃😛😁😁
Hi Ken, High praise on the review. 100th Anniversary. WOW that's a lot, Lou
Hi Curbozer Boomer, You're right a rare treat to see today. Lou
💕👌 ein wunderschönes kraftmobil 🤣
Hi Konrad, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
Awesome video, Lou you should look up Richard Carpenter for a feature on one of his Mopars he keeps in his warehouse.
Hi Aaron, Happy to read you enjoy the video :-) That would be fun. Would be nice to see the collection, Lou
