My best tip in terms of cleaning, organizing, and keeping my home aligned with needing peace, is to take those little random opportunities where you have 5 to 10 minutes that you didn’t expect to be free and do a simple task. It can be one, or a few at a time, depending on the size. Clear off a table, wipe down the counter, or your stove, top, unload, or load your dishwasher, Sweep, clean the toilet, make your bed. They can be super simple. It really helps and you don’t realize how much you can get done in such a short time!
@@christinahilley oh wow! I absolutely love that mantra! I’m going to adopt it myself, if you don’t mind, hee hee. 🤭oh wow! I absolutely love that mantra! I’m going to adopt it myself, if you don’t mind, hee hee. 🤭
I try to pick up the house every night before I go to bed-put dishes in the dishwasher, hang up clothes, put shoes away. Nice to wake up to a clean house.
I'm obsessive when I'm going on vacation even if just a weekend: the house is clean & tidy, laundry is done, bedding changed, and washed. I made sure the refrigerator was cleaned out of leftovers.
I have one end table in the living room that has my Bible, Rosary, prayer book, journal and pen on it. But it is orderly, and if not , I straighten it up regularly.
I got myself those clear thin organizers from dollar tree, they make such a difference for organizing little packs and cans in your fridge! Totally worth it
I live in an area that just flooded HORRIBLY on Friday. Sadly, people lost many important and precious things. We live on a hill and had very little damage. But helping people clear flooded sheds, basements, and storage rooms has re-motivated me to do a deeper round of decluttering...more of a Swedish death cleaning. You've reminded me "I have everything I need."
The connection with a decluttered home and a decluttered mind Is absolutely a thing! You are so right. Decluttering has and still is a struggle but sooooo worth it.
These are great tips!! I try to keep my kitchen sink and counters clean. I find that when they aren't clean, I don't feel in control of anything and when they are clean, I can not only find what I need easier, but I also feel more inclined to make homemade cookies or bread 🙂
Lessons learned. Organize & do little tasks. State of bedroom😅 (I can't find my bed right now. I promise to clear it off on Saturday).. No purse. Wallet & budget binder.
I would add preparing your own food. You'll feel better, save money, and it gives me a sense that you've got things under control. It's a real game changer when you feel like things aren't going the way you would like.
I keep a decluttered house. We've just come back from holiday and I got that instant feeling of peace wash over me as soon as I walked through the door. Now of course we've now made holiday mess as we are managing wash loads etc, but all the other bits were very easy to put away, so they're not going to be lingering around! Having a decluttered life really helps me to reduce spending too. I can see what I have clearly, and only tend to replace items as needed now, rather than impulse buy. I like the washing up done before bed (I don't mind it drying overnight on drainer, but the sink and worktop have to be clear for me) My other priority space to keep clear is the view from my bed - not necessarily the whole bedroom, but my waking view needs to be clear for my day to start well!
Keeping a clean and well organized house does help put me in a better frame of mind. I can't stand looking at a cluttered house. It makes my mind feel cluttered too.
I like this video! To add, for me a tidy closet helps me spend less money. I buy less clothes when it’s organized bc I can see what I have and it’s easier to be creative with outfits and enjoy what I already have. I see my clothes as an investment and I try not to buy more pieces, but just maximize what I already have. Also, the state of my kitchen and living room at the end of the day reflect my mental state. If it’s tidy, I’m doing well. If it’s a mess, you know something is going on 😂. I try to push myself to clean everyday regardless of fatigue or stress because I know it makes me so happy every morning. ☀️
I loved this video today! Sometimes I start feeling helpless, and this was a great reminder that I DO have control of so many things that can improve my quality of daily life and my money choices!! Thank you so much for inspiring me this morning!!!
Excellent video and I agree 100 percent. Also, I would add the state of your car makes a big difference when it’s clean, decluttered and organized it sets you up nicely as you start your day. It just feels great!!
Fantastic video, Kate. In my job at a grocery store, I was taught to line up the cash bills in my drawer all facing up in the same direction. To this day I still line up my cash as you described. I notice that ATM's don't do this. Two things that help me stay on top of things are: 1. Record my purchases as soon as I get home. I have a designated journal for that with a week per two page spread. I can clearly see what I spend per week on gas, groceries, and other items. 2. It gives me great peace of mind to know what my bank balances are at all times. I check them almost daily. It saves overdraft fees or frivolous spending. It insures I have enough available to cover expenses, automatic withdrawals, cheques, bill payments, and to notice when deposits are made. Awareness is key.
I try to keep my living space tidy, but I am not a neat freak either! I am attempting to save five to ten grand for a used vehicle. I have some money saved. I got my license older. My license is my key to adulthood. De-cluttering in progress!
Great video! Sleep is SO important. A few months ago I started vacuuming more and put it on a schedule. I can't believe how much joy I feel with a well vacuumed house upstairs and downstairs on a regular basis. I never get off of my vacuuming schedule because of this. I am also practicing minimalism and have thrown out or donated tons of clothes. I keep the shoes in our mudroom organized even if hubby and son do not 😂. The bedroom is tidy and I have improved the organization of the walk in closet. Yes, let's work on the things we can control.
washing my face and making a cup of coffee is about as much of a routine i have! It’s NOT always possible to have a clean and decluttered house, for so many reaaons, but i DO have a clean “wallet,” since i just use my back pocket!! But i am taking to heart what you said about the bedroom, and will try to get that done, at least, because i do have lots of sleep issues. Thanks for your video.
Decluttering helps so much, as much as it is never done, we are getting to a really good place. I have a mindset of if I buy something, where will it live, if I buy something to replace something, I am sure to move out the extra item. This helps in making spending choices. I often will not purchase items if I don't know where they will live once I bring them home.
Hi Kate, FINALLY!! My son is looking for great advice, and this is a PURRFECT message for him to begin with. You and him have unbelievably same energy 😊
great video Kate. I ve been a bit hectic lately with grad work and children. But the feeling I have when the house is tidy (1200 square feet house) is the best. I feel richest for having a clean space
❤this!! My name is Kee-Kee too and I had this video playing while I was cooking then thought my phone was possessed and calling me😂 Thanks so much for having the courage to share your experiences❤
Hi Kate! I saw an older video of you talking about credit card debt and how to pay credit cards off. It really inspired me . I am committed to paying off my credit cards. Not going to be using them until I get them paid off. I am working at paying off other bills that I also make monthly payments to. I want to get out of debt. You inspire me Kate. Thank you for sharing your videos with us. I enjoyed this video of yours also today. Thank you for the useful tips. Want to try all of these. 💜
I love your tip on watching how you treat your dollar bills! When I was younger in my 20s, I would just throw the money in my pocket and it would just be crumbled up! Awesome tip! Have an awesome frugal Friday, Kate! :-) BOOM!
If you embrace minimalist life, you will find your space takes less time to clean and organize. Less stuff means less to clean, less to move, pack, look at,find space for. Less clutter.
Yes! Minimalism has really helped me appreciate what I have. Before I buy anything now I think about whether I want that item cluttering up my house. Do I want to look after it? Where will it go? Will it last? Will I have to get rid of it? Brilliant tips 🌟 I’m going to start using “I’m choosing not to spend on this right now”. No more negative self talk! Thanks Kate 💕
My state of mind is usually anxiety. I've decreased caffeine and am starting to exercise more to burn off excess energy. I don't know how this will help my finances

When my children were small, I learned the value of a minute. Don't put off doing something just because you don't have time to do everything.
This is a great tip, it only takes me about 5 minutes to clean out the fridge, or a cupboard.

I love coming home to a clean house !!!
