Mr. Chatterjee was looking so confident while replying various questions. Great Sir. Salute to you and your team. Please target to produce apache type helicopters in India.
@@abhidevendra LCH is light category combat helicopter , meant to fight in high mountainous regions , carry less Ammos . Apache is a heavy category fighter , carries much more ammo .
Anantha Sir..You have set a very high bar in journalism by interviewing such great researchers from India. Through these interviews youngsters will be motivated to take up more complex research work in our country.
While watching this interview if you notice when Arup gives details of all the projects Bharat Ratna Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Sir's image watching and appreciating Arup for his team achievements. 🙏 Thank you and letting us know how our firms are hard working to get the things done.
I am literally amazed after listening him, they are really forward looking. But where they need to still focus on to that even if HAL is doing some of the projects ahead of the schedule, we as a nation running really behind as far as technological advancement is concerned, so please cut short your development schedule for every project so that we can chase up with other countries and ultimately after sometime come up with a technology wich is new to the world first time developed by only and only India. I think only then we will proudly say that we are ahead of schedule.
Very interesting interview. Arup Chatterji was articulate and confidence personified. Heartening to note indigenous contributions towards the development of LUH. It appears HAL is coming of age at least in this sector quite well. Thanks for nice interview Anantha.
Thats our Director..candid and straight to the point..fortunate to have been working under him...very soon wish to have him on htt@talking...by the way hes flown in htt and LUH himself and knows them like the back of his hand👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you Mr.Arup Chatterjee. Thank you Mr.Anantha Krishnan. Very engrossing and insightful interview. Excellent. Dhanyavaad. Jai Vigyan, Jai Jawan, Jai Hind.
Many congratulations to Mr Krishnan for bringing out development and manufacturing of an very important defence manufacturing programme through this interview. Mr Chatterjee sounds assuringly passionate. It shows efforts and care gone into the LUH programme. However, at the same time it provides an inside of working of HAL which is a defence PSU and, of the defence bureaucracy. Here is another point of view which is surely not intended/directed towards any individual/employee rather be considered towards the system and the working processes as a whole. 1. Mr Chatterjee tell us that presently Cheeta and Chetak helicopters are in use which forces were inducted in 1960s. It sends alarming bells. India has fought many wars in high altitude areas/ Himalayan ranges in 1962, 1984 (Siachin) and 1999 (Kargil). Indian armed forces are having world's highest active battle zone in since 1984 till date. But, we are getting Light Utility Helicopters now in 2020, that too the mass production us yet to start. Logistics is the most important and very crucial aspect for any war. Experts rate logistics above weapons and manpower. So the questions arises why didn't we had LUH in 2000 or 2005. It shows Aiana (mirror) to our forces and to our Defence bureaucracy. 2. Somewhere HAL is also responsible. Had it been a private industry then the private industry would have explored the opportunity to provide a machine to support the logistics. Private player will not wait for an approval and funds from government for starting a project. However, HAL being a PSU could not thought of taking such an initiative. Whatever is the reason, it makes a case for an alternative. A PSU in current working culture and style us not the right way of manufacturing arms. 2. Mr Arup has rightly said that it will take time to start the mass production because there will be an AON, then a RFP....DAC....negotiations....cabinate not...approval from finance and defence ministries and ......final agreement and firm order. Whole process is quite long. At every step, there are many desks in sequence through which decision making happens. I wonder it is tax payers money which supports bureaucracy, weapon manufacturing and even the salary for PSUs (for example when a PSU gets sick even then they receive salaries which is drawn from tax payers fund), why don't we make it simple. Can it be done in a month's time? Adopt Single Step Order system like a single window system when a PSU is manufacturer and customer is Indian forces. Why on earth we have long process of AON - after all defence PSU understands the technology better? Why do you need RFP and tendering and cabinate notes, DAC and other formalities when you know that if anybody commits irregularity he/she can face criminal proceedings even after their retirements. Why do we have bulky GFRs and CCS (CCA) rules even one has to follow a long and tedious path? No individual is responsible. It is systemic failure. 3. Let us consider the way successful and efficient weapon manufacturers work in modern world. How is Boeing, Lockheed Martin or Augusta Westland works? I am not taking examples from China and Russia since they are not the democracies as such. It is not the issue of technical competence of manpower or the issue of engineering and technology. It is all about management model and governance. Media has attributed the existence of inefficient PSUs to our bureaucracy where individual bureaucrats do exert power using PSUs as tool. I personally feel there are efficient and sincere people both in PSUs and in bureaucracy, but as system we fail.
I have seen this helicopter....it looks nothing like shown in video. It actually looks mesmerizing and ultra Modern helicopter. Kudos to our Engg and Technicians
Kudos to HAL and all the private suppliers who have worked so hard to make this a success ! I've always said that we Indians are capable of anything if we apply our minds to it !
Great job. It's a proud moment for Indian defence and great acknowledgement for excellent work of HAL designers. It gives big boost to Self reliance in defence products.....Well done HAL , congratulations and best wishes to ALH, LCH and LUH teams.
Superb. This is any day better than useless discussions on television. Such an informative segment. Hope we achieve all the targets soon & head towards indeginisation of Helicopters soon. And big fan Ananth sir.
What an excellent interview and both the guest and the host have such amazing grasp of the topic. I think Anantha is as good as any international host in defense matters. Kudos
Many are confused between LUH and ALH Let me help The very basic difference is that ALH is Twin Engine (More load) while the LUH is single engine (Less Load)
Very interesting and crisp interview. Good explanations, and great positivity on current as well as future projects. GOI needs to support. IMRH would be a game changer.
First at all GREAT INTERVIEW. Very Energetic, Encouraging and Inspiring speech by Arup Chatterjee Sir. Congratulations and Thank you Team HAL and Ananth Krishnan Sir.
Beautiful Inspiring & something every Bharatiya should be proud of. Thanks to Ananth Sir for bringing this video & Congrats to Team HAL & Indian Armed Forces.
Anantha ji, your topic of discussions are more relevant than mainstream news media. Hope you have taken care to not reveal too much. Our enemies are all ears.
What infuriates me is inspite of such amazing performance in Himalayas, LUH will get only 187 units order and india will buy 200 russian kamov226 helicopters
Kamov is a different platform , LUH is different . Even though they are of same LUH category but the under cabin of kamov can be changed according to mission and requirement also it's time tested .
It's not patriotic feelings that goes into the buying of a Defence equipment. It's requirements of Army, Navy and Air Force to fight the enemies that is of prime criteria. It's their life at stake, not yours or mine.
LUH is made for absolutely different use, Kamov has another role.India tried for high altitude single engine light rescue helicopter with some support role.
Thankyou for a wonderful interview. One thing we would like to know is the indiginization of engines or new engines being developed for various class of helicopters. Thank you again!
LUH should be made available for all paramilitary forces, all police departments of various states, and should be made mandatory for all states governments to buy these wonderful helos, also it should be made mandatory for all expressway managing companies to make it available for medevac for accident victims for medical assistance.
Just one question sir, what is the progress on the folding tail.boom of the Naval LUH??we heard about the folding blades but even the folding tail boom was amongst the requirements. We saw a mock-up at the are India last year
The budgetary limitations of India are well known to almost every Indian thus its best that Indian Navy signs the deal for :- (1) HAL Dhruv (Naval) for NUH role (2) Additional 6 Kalvari Class SSK with Indigenous AIP system + Cancel project P-75I. (3) "Alexandrite" class Minesweeper from Russia under "Make-in-India" program. (4) IAC-2 as an EMALS version of INS Vikrant (5) At least 6 "LHDs" equivalent to French Mistral Class ships. (6) "MH-60S/R" helicopter for NMRH role under "Make-in-India" program. Its production line can then be used to manufacture:- (a) "HH-60W Jolly Green" for IAF's CSAR Ops (b) "MH-60M" for Indian SFs (c) "MH-60T Jayhawk" for ICGS (d) "S-70 Firehawk" for NDRF & State Fire departments
There should be No doubt now that GoI needs to allow HAL to participate in the NUH competition. Similarly, GoI must give HAL fund for the development of:- (1) IMRH (2) Buying "Commercia Aircraft " branch of EMBRAER (3) For Civil versions of Dhruv, LUH & eventually IMRH. I really hope that IMRH is developed by HAL by incorporating the following technologies :- (1) Fly-by-wire (2) Mid-Air Refuelling (3) Foldable Rotor Baldes & Tail Once IMRH Project is completed "Indian Military & HAL" must cooperate to develop:- (1) Heavy Lift Helicopter like Mi-26, CH-53K but with service ceiling of 6 to 6.5 Km. (2) Tilt Rotor Aircraft like V-22 Ospreys, V-280 Valour etc.
HAL should become monopoly manufacturer and exporter of civilian and utility helicopter in domestic market and other countries. This will generate revenue which can boost r&d
Mr. Chatterjee was looking so confident while replying various questions. Great Sir. Salute to you and your team. Please target to produce apache type helicopters in India.
LCH hai na
LCH is equivalent to Apache
No, it's not...
@@abhidevendra LCH is light category combat helicopter , meant to fight in high mountainous regions , carry less Ammos . Apache is a heavy category fighter , carries much more ammo .
The confidence and satisfaction on the face of manufacturer says it all - We Are Ready to Roll 🇮🇳💕

Thank you Mr.Arup Chatterjee. Thank you Mr.Anantha Krishnan. Very engrossing and insightful interview. Excellent. Dhanyavaad. Jai Vigyan, Jai Jawan, Jai Hind.
So inspiring, one of the best interviews i have seen. Last line really shows the passion our engineers have towards developing our own systems.
What an energetic man.We can see a researcher spirit in his words. India need people like this.
First LUH TD:- Green camo
Second LUH TD:- Desert camo
Third LUH TD:- Blue camo
Wonderful interview!! Mr. Chatterjee's enthusiasm is so endearing
Its so heartening n very moving to see Mr. Chatterjee's passion n confidence. Fantastic .

Good Mr Arup chatterjee....
His confidence 🔥
Good going keep going good लचक
Great 👍
Is there any light armed version planned for luh.
