The more videos i watch about racing games the more i think "DAMMIT. Genki were like 20 years ahead of times compare to even today racing games. We didn't appreciated them and push them out and now we are suffering because we turn the back on the most talented and meaningful racing game studio who truly cared"
Sega GT car builder, Genki offering a lot of cool stuff for touge (we don't even see anymore unless open worlds I guess we don't even see hill climb events anymore, where is my touge Grid Legends) and the talking to people and many other little details in their games or other games. Like R Racing (story and side missions), Enthusia (roulette/clean racing points, level ups, bette license tests) and many more. Most people couldn't care less it's why we get trash ideas in racing games now. It's why Forza Motorsport 8 all I care about is the grid position payouts. Sure in MX VS ATV Unleashed I bought cheap or ahs no payouts but at least got a grid position to select. Where is that level of little details to appreciate we don't see them in games or the ones they go with are undewhelming. Playing Forza Motorsport games, even Pikmin 4, Ratchet Rift Apart the more they newcomer ofy them the more I actually find them awkward to play, not pushing the potential of the games/genres and dumbing them them and it annoys me. They offer 1 audience focus. Forza Motorsport 4 offers 2 audiences options for how to play with the calender and event list you play how you want not this is our dumbed down way of how we want you to play it's boring and annoying companies ruin their games. Once we get good at the games we notice the issues with them. It's always about marketing, whatever cars and tracks, the graphics not content and cool features they added that made them better games. Which sucks. So many good racing games with good ideas, more interesting tracks, yet the Devs make worse games with barely any exciting ideas. At least to me that's how some feel. Then again I can say the same about some where you can go oh really games only Dirt series or WRC hmm we ignored Gravel, ignored OnRush and others hmm I wonder why and why are people so ignorant to some games that appear. Ride 4 literally takes the Forza Motorsport 1&2 region system and pushes it further. But it's bikes so people don't care. The game is hard as ever but at least it does that. Milestone always innovated in underrated car racing games with Alfa Romeo Racing Italiano rewind system (yes a one make invented the rewind system that Grid 2098/Forza Motorsport 3/2009 took and simplified as the rewind in Alfa Romeo was increase-able with RPG points yes increase-able little by little) or Corvette/Evolution GT RPG systems and other details. Most like Milestone and Genki go underrated in their brilliant games. Casuals and general people don't care about game design just graphics and if the themes/setting sound cool or favourite cars or whatever it's why games got more boring. It's why phones are boring and we get camera and looks comparisons wow how boring everyday people. Give us more exciting ideas in them but enthusiasts only buy the interesting ones.
They introduced for the first time in forza series image based lighting. Image-based lighting basically means that the cars are lit by the image of the environment around them. So if you put that car anywhere in the world, it will be lit correctly. You haven’t got to fake it, you haven’t got to bake it. The cars are totally real-time image-based lit. That’s one of the reasons they look good. It ran at 720p and constant 60fps without a single frame drop. They changed cockpit view on all cars , they needed to overhaul cockpit for every car because of the new lighting system. They increased the fov and changed how light reacts to materials inside the cockpit Players can utilize Kinect to look into a corner using a new head tracking feature. This allows them to look toward the apex of a corner or at nearby cars. The controller or steering wheel is used to control the car while Kinect is used independently for viewing around the driver. Players can also use Kinect as a game controller. In this setting the game automatically accelerates and decelerates the player's vehicle utilizing a modified version of the feature known as Auto Brake in Forza Motorsport 3. Sound from over 500 cars was captured on a dyno in a Redmond, WA garage, using the same recording setup first used with the Bizarre Creations' PGR games beginning in 2001. Fans of the game were also solicited to bring their own cars for recording. An 8 to 10 channel recording device captured sound from microphones at the engine, intake, and exhaust. High SPL mics were used on the loudest of cars, notably the Mazda 787B, to reduce distortion. In Autovista mode, engine startups were recorded in 5.1 from the perspective of the driver's head plus mics near the engine and exhaust.
Occasionally I just listen to the menu music in FM4 while chilling. I hope one day they do a remaster of FM4 and make the unicorn cars available like the Mines R32 and R34
The forza 4 menu music is so extremely memorable! It is right there up with early gran turismos. It is very recognizable and unique and instantly brings back memories of the game. The autovista tbh. felt like a gimmick. I remember thinking before using it that it was a one time deal. Once you have seen it once it is done. And that is how it felt. A lot of effort into something that didn't have any gameplay elements to it and apart from some funny jokes there was really no reason to even watch them all after you had seen a couple. At least with photomode you can do something with it but autovista is something I've never seen any point.
The first Forza was extremely memorable to me because of the high resolution stock photos of like engine components out of what looked like a parts catalog and then the soft rock covers playing in the background😂
when I was playing fm4 back in those days, I thought it was the best and I was expecting the future of the whole thing to be a mix of forza motorsport plus forza horizon. A game where you do your career in track but then have the freedom of taking your car outside of track to open map and drive around like it's your life/IRL. It's sad to see where gaming went instead.😭
This was a really lovely video to watch through, I've heard many good things about this particular installment of FM and from the stream I watched it does ring true in that regard. While it does have some shortcomings many people view this as the best FM. Fun fact: Richard Jacques, one of the composers listed here does music for Sonic The Hedgehog lol. Great video as always. ❤
Amazing vid man, used to play this when it came out! I was absolutely hyped for it when I saw E3 trailer, and boy did it deliver. The graphics and amount of details for its time, the variery of sh*tboxes other interesting vehicles, the livery editor, and of course my favorite part, Fujimi Kaido.
One thing that I would like to know before starting playing FM4(this year is the first time playing any Forza games) is that you can import your FM3 savegame into FM4,thing that I found in FH1 for someone else review if you have level 50 at FM4 you will get 8 loyalty cars reward and check if you can do for FM4 as well but I was to far in the driver level to start again.Shame I didn't found out earlier.
This game keeps me plugging in my Xbox 360. Its too good. All the cars I want, great soundtrack, great track selection, excellent presentation. I only wish captures were possible on 360 because I have so much to share. Time to get a capture card then…
For me Motorsport 4 is the peak I wished they could go back to the formula they had when they made a Motorsports 4 instead of going down whatever route they're doing now
while forza 4 is great, it overshadows 3. 3 is just as good, but people dont like it because it didnt have the top gear things. i wish more people would play 3.
A major part of why this is the best forza was the online modes. The S Class "Tag" game mode on the top gear test track was so much fun. I spent so many hours building and designing cars specifically for that game mode. TMD4MotorWerks Tag cars were some of the best cars 😉
it's a game i must confess i haven't played FM4 or Horizon 1 and only played their demos i remember going to buy FM4 in 2014 with my pocket money and they didn't have it, only FH1 and it was over my budget i will most likely buy it one day, prioritizing a FM2 copy (with the bonus disc) first
Got a chance to play it recently after hearing so much about it. I swear the AI can be homicidal sometimes though. They would run my ass off the road just so they can get their precious line. Still a good game though.
I play this since Dustin made a video on it, definatley the best of the series. Runs well on Xenia emulator so PC people can get their nostalgia fix. You can clearly see how this game paved the way for Horizon :) The aweful starter cars dont last long but its nice that stuff like a VW Fox is included :) I like the World tour, gives me some guidance instead of picking races from a rather dead excel sheet... Alos keeps the event variety up.
Hi 👋 Dove thanks for another fantastic video I loved this game back in the day this really the golden ear of forza I'll never forget the intro just fantastic Jeremy Clarkson did a phenomenal job ✨️
The OST of FM4 is easily one of the best in the business, it and Driveclub's are two that constantly feature in my Spotify Playlists. I love the variety of cars on offer in this game, there's already a ton of content in the basegame but with the DLC it becomes even more open-ended with a lot of unique and rare models available. I'd easily have swapped the FM4 release for something even more refined on the Xbox One provided it didn't end up like FM5.
Fun story. Microsoft lost at least 1000€ cuz they didn't include Fujimi Kaido in FM5 .I went to Assetto after FM4 but boy had we nice battles on fujimi. I played much Grand Tourismo 1 to 4. But FM3 and specially 4 changed my whole perception of cars. Cuz cars in fm4 behave in a " realistic " way. That's why I liked horizon In comparison to nfs. Also the server race customisation in fm4 was so nice. Forza horizon games could be really good if they had the same customisation as on fm4.
Surprisingly the servers for the multiplayer still work for this game but of course you need to be playing it on the Xbox 360 and have someone els to be able to access it :)
From a driving fun standpoint, 4 is the absolute pinnacle of the Motorsport series. Arcadey enough that you don't need a wheel and pedals to make LMP1 cars function, but sim enough that you're not trying to find fun from things other than how the cars feel to drive. 3 to me felt like 2 with a clutch. 4 feels like a massive overhaul As for the rest of the gameplay, i prefer 3 or 1. 3 felt more focused in its gameplay loop as it didn't have things like car bowling and soccer (as fun as those events are), and 1 felt like the Gran Turismo 3 that Gran Turismo 3 should have been. I hope the new Forza Motorsport reboot will be a shift back in FM4's direction for the series.
Works fine for me you should try it on Xenia Canary. Look up how to fix sun and blur on textures. It still crash from time to time but only every few hours.
And I'm just here wondering how you're emulating it without any graphical issues at all, I played it last week and the shadows and menus were all over the place.
This was the best Forza career ever though I still never loved it cause it was still boring compared to GT, but still the best ever for a Forza. I have my game modded with even higher textures/polygons, more lighting, more smoke and still run mostly at 60 FPS on Xbox360... Now latest Forza Motorsport (Forza Motorsport 8) career mode currently is almost non existent and the AI is also currently completely broken and the worse I ever seen 🙁
My favorite is FM3 but 4 really was pretty good. I pretty much agree with the evaluation of this video. I like the first 4 games. FM6 was alright in a lot of ways but the format seemed like a major downgrade from FM3. I've actually been playing FM2 lately and I am enjoying it quite a bit, but it saddens me when I watch videos about the latest one. It has to be online even for single player. The progression is weird. It's apparently extremely buggy and the content is time gated. All of those things are exactly what I had hoped wouldn't happen when it started getting closer to release and have, thus far, kept me from buying it.
Laguna Spyro thief, Hockenheim Among us hmm. Ah good entry with refinements. Calender/world tour, player/car level max higher & discounts. But no PGR2 garage/dealership but Autovista. Yeah some parts seemed rushed for what was a 3.5 of sorts and refined ideas. Yeah can be easy to get the level ups. At least car rewards are balanced then 5+ games. I think new tracks, some more event types. I always wondered the 3&4 differences. Play Ride 4 for the region idea of FM1&2 realised. FM7 is peek? Peoysay that wow. Only people that were part of the Xbox One must say that. Or whatever latest game. FM7 is fine, but it's very unbalanced at times (cough reward cars especially like 5&6) besides being just FM5 & 6 elements reworked. Showcase FM6 good, everything else FM5 menus and FM3 & 4 event choice then the championship FM5 approach. Physics and cars eh find but not as great. Ah if drivavtar still existed or the categories for filtering cars worked which it's so limited and other games also did this some racing games have limits and it sucks. GT6 had some prhat worked but was limited even if the search bar was there and no other bothered making one just price, PI/PP and more basic ones that don't allow further searches for ore advanced options. Always annoyed me. Had idea idea about the other music you showed only the main ones. Car soccer and others in multiplayer glad I can play GTI Club PSP (play it please it's good) or Rocket League (I don't) for that. But the last of oh I don't know an actual good appearance of car rewards in order and relevant not oh fast cars you can't even use and wasted on progression Turn 10 PGR2 quote much, hill climbs, bowling (yes it still exists), drag racing, speedways, auto cross cones, (yes we have no 1 lap magic I mean sprint), the class based races (not meaning the championships for E to A or whatever I mean the 2 classes on the track events) were nice too, auto vista can't forget about and more actual good content not garbage. Remoxed content because they got to find something to do differently between games when fhey could just think more about how to design them. We got sure 1 lap magic in 6 I mean sprint or grid position payouts in 8 and other dvent typed or details in later games but even then not much going on that's exciting. Besides wow we have events with actual requirements I wonder why they made it so simple and boring with car classes only (where that Sega GT displacement event requirements at XD) and no actual event requirements anymore to dumb it down when those aspects make the events challenging, they clearly want us to not challenge our brains anymore. I don't find Forza Motorsport 3&4 to be better or worse then each other they are close enough and the refinements/differences are minor I find I can go between them and go yeah this does this and that does that but I don't find 3 inferior of quality of life, tracks, menu look, car selection, event types of drag racing , speedways, hill climbs, 2 car class races at the same time (not meaning the championships for E to A or whatever I mean the 2 classes on the track events), bowling/auto cross cone challenges (you can tell I listed them as I forget what each game offers XD) or graphics. 4 may be the newer one but I don't find 3 lacking. 4 feels like a 3.5 then a4 sometimes while other times it feels like a 4. Unlike 2 where it felt like a cut down game in terms of the transition probably due to trying to be close early ahead of GT5 Prologue but otherwise less original tracks but we got the Test Tracks which were good to have, but the rest were so frequent and uninteresting and the rest was what it was for menu design I still like, the graphics are what they are of refined for 1's standards obviously not compared to 3&4 level of artstyle/look. Content is fine. The region system is not as good as Ride 4 that actually commits to it but Ride 4 is hard as ever to play so Forza Motorsport 1&2 have that over it I can actually play Forza Motorsport 2. RIP Genki, Milestone still going strong with the Ride series. Please play Rode 4 just for the region system alone. Or Alfa Romeo Racing Italiano, or Corvette, actual games with good ideas in them that most people ignore. MotoGP3 fictional 20 tracks and Namco characters even what a time. Love that game for that content.
The more videos i watch about racing games the more i think "DAMMIT. Genki were like 20 years ahead of times compare to even today racing games. The Autovista with Jeremy Clarkson definitely already outstanding all the way!
In retrospect and now being a much older individual, he's a known racist so I could live without Clarkson.
@@BleedForTheWorld I am so sick of you anti white bigots.
@@BleedForTheWorld alright mate, I'll relay this back to Clarkson to see if he gives a fuck 😀👍🏻
Occasionally I just listen to the menu music in FM4 while chilling. I hope one day they do a remaster of FM4 and make the unicorn cars available like the Mines R32 and R34
They should drop FM and do remaster of RM4 add add new content to it.
8:18 to me, this is a good thing, as RUF is basically an alternative Porsche, not its replacement
Agreed
The forza 4 menu music is so extremely memorable! It is right there up with early gran turismos. It is very recognizable and unique and instantly brings back memories of the game.

Yes, Forza Motorsport 4 is the best game of the franchise and my favorite racing game ever. I still have my Xbox 360 to play it.

Forza 4 was peak because of the community! As much as I love horizon it split the players up and motorsports never really recovered
For me Motorsport 4 is the peak I wished they could go back to the formula they had when they made a Motorsports 4 instead of going down whatever route they're doing now

Got a chance to play it recently after hearing so much about it. I swear the AI can be homicidal sometimes though. They would run my ass off the road just so they can get their precious line. Still a good game though.
By far the best Forza, I have all the achievement and done all the event.
i love this Masterpiece espacially the sOUNDTRACK such as Kingpin Ballistic circuit Suicide Door and Lasalle ^^
Top Gear (Jeremy Clarkson)+Forza Motorsport 4= Just Perfect and had lot of FUN with the Career-Mode
I agree. It's like Motorsport went downhill after the first Horizon released.
11:37 and Lotus God too, apparently
I played this when LG were showcasing their new 3D TV, I loved every minute of it!
R.I.P Chadlonso, gone but not forgotten
fm2 is what i grew up on love it to this day
I always turned the music off to hear the engine sounds, I have Missed out on all those great tracks pure test drive 5 vibes.
FM4 for me, but I play them all(1 to 4) depending on how i feel. I need another One/Series console to play the newer ones.
Forza Motorsport 4 could be my favorite X360 game and i love the car roster on it especially some DLC Cars.
Rip Chad Alonzo
Both GT4 and FM4 have iconic soundtracks it seems
Add Ridge Racer 4 to that list. Why is the 4 always the peak of a lot of racing games?

AMOGUS
i stopped playing cause too easy. played with a manual. shouldve added clutch maybe.
yeah, but fm3 is better than fm4
