Hiya guys~ so I'm just writing this comment to say that since I have graduated Bard in 2020 I will no longer be answering questions in the comments of this video~ just because I'm not sure what has changed since I graduated so I don't want to give anyone any answers and be completely wrong. Please do email the school or look for any current students for any questions~ stay safe and love yall
This is so helpful! I’m looking at Bard College for 2020 and it was interesting to hear from someone’s experience that isn’t biased or anything. Everything about Bard sounds really good for me and your description of it was honest and sometimes funny! Thank you!!
Georgia Bruno Hiya! I’m really glad this video was helpful for you! I’m sorry to say that I don’t know too much about the music program because I am not a part of it, my friends who are part of the program mostly enjoy. I’ve heard that there are some pretty good teachers but that is about all I can tell you. Good Luck!
@@sheri_cstar I have a question which campus is better the Manhattan or Queens one? I got into bard but i’m not sure if I like the Manhattan one that much
The conflicting views thing might be a bad thing for you, but I think that’s a good thing. I think being stuck in a liberal bubble without any conflicting voice is kind of toxic politically.
@@michaeldolan1447 what about the classes? like would you say the training you're getting is good and is there a variety of classes? (i'm an accepted student deciding whether or not to commit)
Hi Sheri, thank you so much for making this vid, it's super informative and I love how balanced you made this review, and not glorifying nor tearing down the school! I was just wondering if you meant to say the supermarkets are 5 minutes instead of 5 hours away in 17:12 .or if they're actually 5 hours away lol Thanks!! :)
oh that part was a bit of an exaggeration XD. The actual supermarket for groceries is like ten minutes away by shuttle. While the target in the slightly bigger town is like a thirty-forty minutues bus ride away.
i also had a bard college experience. unfortunately it was pretty underwhelming. on the upshot i got to see some beautiful countryside and one or two dungeons in skyrim.
It’s been a couple years since I’ve graduated now so I’m not sure if the food is the same, the wraps at the food place in campus center were really good! The cafeteria food was.. alright? Like it wasn’t great but it wasn’t horrible like I know some college campus food is
Hey yo, Im from Russia and I have the opportunity to get a Bard College diploma. How are y'all think about it? Is it worth it? Is the diploma in demand? And can I get a job anywhere in the USA? Thanks in advance everyone
A degree would definitely help you look better with employers, but its not necessary to make decent money. Degrees open up a lot of doors to get jobs in a lot of places, not necessarily everywhere. Make sure you to a lot, a lot of research before moving!
Your video was so helpful!! Thanks a lot. Also I was wondering if you (or anyone here in the comments) could tell me how it is for international students to get in and a bit about the test bc since here in Brazil the style of tests are almost completely different Iam quite scared that Iam going to fail and not be able to get in or get a financial aid of any type.
Sarah Barbosa Hi, I’m the video was helpful but I’m sorry I’m not sure about the international students part, i think it would be helpful for u to email the school the check about these details. Sorry for not being able to help
Thank you for your video. The video - made from a perspective of your apparent "disappointment" in the school - seemed very subjective - which is not to say it wasn't a good video. But, I'm not so sure that other, less sensitive students would take issue with many of the things that bothered you (which is not to invalidate your experience). I kept saying to myself: This criticism could apply to many other schools wrt teaching styles, acclimation to the weather, political views of the students, etc. Comments on the isolated nature of the school, the occasional roaming of animals and lack of central air in the dormitories were good, objective observations, however.
well dorms vary a lot so I can't say for sure what type of dorm to expect. Overall there were no major dorming issues for me . Bard is located in a rural foresty area so you are very close to nature while certain city luxuries will be hard to find. Hope this was helpful :)
i don't know what the policy is now with covid, I think you would have to check the schoolwebsite for details since they might have changed their policies since i graduated.
Hey, I’m gonna be an incoming transfer student. Not sure which dorms to pick so i am wondering what dorms would you recommend for someone who wants a single and doesn’t like to walk too much.
you are clearly bitter about something more than my future prospects (unless you do care that much?) I just hope you deal with whatever is bothering you and have a good life

@@didiermontagnier6114 You are very silly. First, Bard is a fine school. Second, it isn't expensive. (The school works hard to make it affordable, and depending on your offer, it can even be more affordable than a state school.) Third, liberal arts degrees are about learning to learn and refining one's mind, breadth, and depth. A person can go on to do just about anything starting with a liberal arts degree. "Job prospects" (whatever that means) will be just fine for those who attend Bard and who pay even the slightest bit of attention. People attend different schools for different reasons, and finding a "good fit" is as important as anything. You'll get out what you put in no matter where you go - be it a community college or Princeton -- and honestly down the road, almost no one cares where you went to college. That's not the point. The undergraduate degree is not "job training", though it will set one up for excellent job prospects and graduate school (which is far more important when it comes to "jobs" and networking). So - relax! Enjoy life, and don't be such a snark. :-)

Hi Sheri! Does Bard have a tradition to tighten its community?
Is the music program good at Bard? I want to play in the orchestra!
Let's just say that if you study music Bard, you're practically studying at Juilliard.
Juilliard faculty teach at Bard as well so you're basically studying with Juilliard faculty
This was very helpful! Thank you. Could you please tell me roughly how hot or cold it gets there, especially because of the no air conditioning?
is duolingo accepted to get in this?
and when the semester will open for 2023 intake?

Niel Gaiman teaches here!!!!!!
