- I want to share with you what I think of as being the secret sauce of color mixing. The neutral colors.
If you’ve been using more intense, saturated, rich color in your paintings, especially if you’re using optical color, like I’ve talked about so much, I want to make sure that you’re thinking about not just more intense colors, but that full range of intensity.

Thank you Mary!! Very helpful! You are the mistress of mixing!!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Mary you are the BEST !
Thanks so much for this, Mary. I am a watercolorist, but I’m going out to my studio to experiment with these three color combinations. Probably with Monte Amiata and Imperial Purple. Can’t decide what the other yellow will be. So many possibilities!
I'm so glad! You can find the same yellows in watercolor.
Thank you Mary, it is great information🕊🎨
This was great, Mary. I used to mix diox violet and another yellow to get yellow ochre!
Thanks you for sharing this! I love all your videos, they have been very helpful :)
You are so welcome!
Great demo thank you.
nice
Really enjoyed this! I would like to see you paint a fall scene....please?
Ty for this mixing video! I have a violet iron oxide (water color) but can find no real info on what it mixes best with and it’s properties?
When I mixed purple & yellow I'd always get brown.
I'm going to guess that you are a Leo.
