This game looks like a mobile ad game that fell back in time to 20 years ago, and yet I have to admire its bizarrely original execution of "voice-activated pinball with army tactics". It's certainly unique, and I respect that!
To think that this was the last GameCube-exclusive first-party game, and the penultimate GameCube first-party game overall, with Twilight Princess getting a release on both the GameCube and the Wii! Also, did you know that, at one point in development, Odama was intended to be controlled by the DK Bongos, of Donkey Konga and DK Jungle Beat fame?
"Are you sure this is the way to do warfare?" "Yes, what do you know, lowly soldier?" Like, that's barely even a joke, that's just a valid observation of most organized warfare.
I remember reading about this game in Electronic Gaming Monthly. Nintendo made some interesting decisions back then. Quirky idea, weird concept, but looks amazing, and wow it gets dramatic Lemmings & Pinball Creator of Seaman. It makes sense
"Nobody remembers"? Dude, I'll never forget picking this up on clearance for $10 new at Hastings. Among the best 10-spots I've ever spent. *EDIT:* Okay, Liam's $2 beats the hell out of me.
I was wondering how exactly I missed this game when it first released, and apparently this came out in April 2006. That makes it all the more baffling that they would release something like this, just a few months before the Wii launched.
Unfortunately for Nobunaga, the Odama ploughs through his set firearm lines, which his enemies were falling to. Perhaps the next time he faces the might of the Odama he will be better prepared. Unless he gets assassinated, but what are the odds of that?
Credit where it's due, I thought this was going to be a game that used voice commands as a dumb gimmick, but I actually think it would be _harder_ to control if all the troop commands had to be bound to the buttons while you're also trying to hit the paddles with frame-perfect timing.
This game rules! I never managed to beat it, and I never will, but damn is it hilarious! Fond memories of announcing to everyone in the house I was going to play it every time so they didn't think I had gone insane.
Who could forget about the brutal Odama Battles in Japanese feudal story? Hundreds of soldiers squashed by the tonnes heavy Odamas. *translator notes: Odamas mean Big Balls in Japanese.
Feels like one of those games where they spent all their effort making the different elements function to some level and zero of their time playtesting if anyone in the world vibed with it, or even understood how to play it on a basic level.
I would never "you should full play through this" but if there was ever a game for it it's this. Wacky ass game that no one's ever going to play themselves. Shame the logistics make that a non-starter.
1:12 non, non, non, a sealed PAL (french) version was sold 120€ in august, who can believe those prices? I can sell a dogshit for 10.000€ at this rate! But yeah, the game could be found in bargain bins in french supermarkets for 10€ not long after its release. Check the sold items option, not the "i'll never sell my game" one.
An 8 foot diameter iron ball would weigh 179,528 lbs (81,432 kg)
Those 3-man flipper crews are strong.
You gotta be a Baki character to work the flippers
Being crushed by the Odama will cease once morale improves.
I was worried that I only thought this game was hard because I was a child. Good to see that I thought it was hard because it was hard.

Baraka Odama
When's the $10.00 Odama fatality where Baraka slowly flattens you with one?

That's just so many levels of insane
"Are you sure this is the way to do warfare?"
"Yes, what do you know, lowly soldier?"

"I learned all about the ways of bouncing a giant metal ball around in lord school, peasant!"
This game was ahead of its time. Brush up the art direction, keep the dialogue goofy, add a vs mode, and I can see this being amazing for streaming.
Include streaming interactivity and make your chat control the troops
Imagine the opposing army just having a giant pinball machine and your battlefield is one big stage for it.
Im surprised that this premise isnt an anime yet
Every game genre can be made better by combining it with pinball.
Thanks Odama
I only remember this game because it was forever in the bargain bin at my local walmart for $10.
Yup
If ever a genre the indie world needs to steal - we could have a slew of "Odama-likes"
Thanks, Odama
I remember reading about this game in Electronic Gaming Monthly. Nintendo made some interesting decisions back then.
Quirky idea, weird concept, but looks amazing, and wow it gets dramatic
Lemmings & Pinball
Creator of Seaman. It makes sense
Not a single "Thanks Odama" joke. My disappointment is immeasurable.
Fortunately people have said it dozens and dozens of times in the comments. So it wasn't needed.
@@flophouseplays fair enough.
This shit is wild. It's like if the epic Japanese war movie "Ran" were a pinball game.
This feels so good i could cry
Who doesn’t remember Odama? It’s literally that one weird pinball game on GameCube
This game ruled
Got to play it when I first moved to Montreal and was such a weird and interesting game
I can't believe this is how I'm finding out this game exists. I couldn't think of a better way, honestly.
"Nobody remembers"? Dude, I'll never forget picking this up on clearance for $10 new at Hastings. Among the best 10-spots I've ever spent. *EDIT:* Okay, Liam's $2 beats the hell out of me.
Also, thanks Odama
I've always remembered this! What a weird cool game.
Some people press on, others press forward
Some always twirling, twirling! TWIRLING!
This game had the same Itch as Rock of Ages.
I remember Odama. That microphone never worked, lol.
I remember it well because the console bundle was in the window of GAME during most of 2006.
Thanks, Odama.
Is this the true Steel Ball Run?
Bonus microphone included!!!
Holy shit was that a snippet of audio for Wet n Wild in Queensland Australia. Epic Aussie shoutout
Maybe if I just keep mentioning Lost Kindoms 2 they will eventually play it.
every time i saw this box back in the day, my brain told me it was Doshin the Giant.
Damn I would have loved this game. I will always have fond memories of the GameCube.
Right eye! Middle eye! Left eye!
Red eye!
Playing Lifeline is something else lol
@@nobodyinparticular9640 Maybe my lack of engrish was why she was having such a hard time with it 🤪
Man i wish this beloved classic got more love and became a household franchise.
This one's been a long time coming, and it was just as weird as I was expecting.
A wild Liam appears!
This game is harder than a porn star in a sexy snowstorm
I totally forgot about this game. Definitely an interesting one
This feels like a cross between Devil Crush and Rock of Ages.
If Shogun: Total War was made by Williams.
I was wondering how exactly I missed this game when it first released, and apparently this came out in April 2006.
That makes it all the more baffling that they would release something like this, just a few months before the Wii launched.
yeah it's the second-to-last first-party GameCube game behind Twilight Princess.
Unfortunately for Nobunaga, the Odama ploughs through his set firearm lines, which his enemies were falling to. Perhaps the next time he faces the might of the Odama he will be better prepared. Unless he gets assassinated, but what are the odds of that?
Kinda reminds me of those awesome pythoneseque Rock of Ages games. Sadly a bit underappreciated.
I love my Cube. Love this game.
Do Cubivore next 😊
I remember seeing this in a demo.
Credit where it's due, I thought this was going to be a game that used voice commands as a dumb gimmick, but I actually think it would be _harder_ to control if all the troop commands had to be bound to the buttons while you're also trying to hit the paddles with frame-perfect timing.
Also, unless they edited out the flubs, it seemed pretty dang responsive, even though they were talking to each other while playing.
the little things the military goobers say on the field make this much more enjoyable than it should be.
I remember using a GameCube microphone before because me along with others also had it with Mario party 5!
(Edit it was actually 7!)
-There was also that Pikachu game. "Hey you, Pikachu!"-
Edit: Oh wait, that was N64
Hell yeah i have 2 copies. Fine addition to my pinball collection
I had a brain fart and thought they were playing a game about Obama. 😅
This is one of the coolest games I’ve ever seen.
Save the Drama for Odama
They should actually re release this. It's a bizarre but it actually seems pretty good.
The only other game to use the Mario Party mic
I made an Odama stage for Smash Ultimate. :D
Dang I only beat the first boss in this game. I remember being sad that there was almost no content of this game on RUclips.
This game rules! I never managed to beat it, and I never will, but damn is it hilarious! Fond memories of announcing to everyone in the house I was going to play it every time so they didn't think I had gone insane.
I still have this game pretty much in box still never played it 😅
Thanks, Odama!
Thanks Odama.
I need to see that secret stage by Y'ALL.
Woah, Woah, Woah, stop everything.
The GameCube had a microphone attachment?!
MORE ODAMA PLZ
Full play through 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Or at least 4 more hours
Every time I see Matt bring Liam into a video, it is free dopamine
hurrah liam!
Do a let's play of this game...
What a weird game. Cool to see, though
I own this game, I enjoyed this game, and I forgot all about it lol

Only Japanese devs could come up with this game. I regret never buying it.

I bought this game years ago at multimedia shop called Electric Underground and I have yet to touch the damn thing
