Behringer releases a free synth plugin and encourages people to donate to a charity instead and Behringer haters will still complain lol. I hope to see more plugins in the future and maybe that Behringer DAW.
Credit where credit is due. Behringer have a really spotty record with regards ethical business practices but this may win over many of the doubters. I was happy to contribute a towering $2 (even though the Synth is pants)
Can't complain about that. The synth is free, maybe not the greatest but for someone starting out sure..
Image a physical synth like that with a screen that is that big....just imagine how crazy that would be...very futuristic

It's such an analog-modeling synthesizer that it even models the impossibility of registering it.

I can hardly wait for more hardware synthesizers to come out, but this will definitely make it easier!
Now I managed to install and license it. In my DAW (Reason 12) it's buggy. As long as it has the Midi input from the keyboard (i.e. pressing a note down) the UI of the DAW freezes - animation from other plugins stop and no scrolling possible. It's only with VINTAGE, not with any other VSTs.
I think your registration page is either on dial up or a tandy 1000 or both
It looks almost like Ableton Analog...
After a second glance... It's Ableton Analog just different skin... hah! Hopefully the engine isn't designed by Applied Acoustics Systems (AAS) too...but you know what, it would be amazing if Behringer came up with a fully dedicated midi controller for this...

Probably not an instrument I would use personally but gave it a go mainly to test the 'issues' others have reported. Downloaded, installed & registered easily in 5 mins (Win10, VST3, Reaper). Unlikely to use it it my music production style but it seems to work fine and sound good - if I use it I'd be happy to donate.
Windows download seems to cover only VST3 and standalone - no AAX - so not available directly in Pro Tools

Presets sound great and all but, theres no way to initialize the synth to create your own sounds from scratch. This is a must! Let me know once that's updated.
I think initialized patches are a relatively new thing, not sure when they became common in today's analog synths, none of mine except for the Take 5 has it. You could always create a basic patch yourself as a starting point -- it's not as if patch memory is a constraint these days.
@@exmachinema Im pretty sure initialized patches are not new at all. But you are right, I can create my own for sure. I'm not against that. I will definitely do that. And I can appreciate a free synth especially if the sound is quality. But either way I'm a Behringer supporter and have the Poly D. I love that thing with no presets lol.
@@ProdByThatGuyFace When do you think synths with initialized patche features became commonplace? I sold pro music gear until the early 90s and don't remember any of the brands we carried offering that. BTW, someone on Reddit posted an initialized patch for the Vintage VST for download.
@@exmachinema You know thats a good question. I know the Juno-106 has a manual button that creates a blank patch that you can use to create a patch then save it over one of the 128 presets saved in memory. And that synth was released in the early 80's. Oh sweet!!! I need to find that post. Thanks for sharing!!
@@ProdByThatGuyFace that's different, the Juno Manual button switches from a saved patch to whatever are the current parameter settings of the synth. The Take 5 has a similar feature, but also provides for a true initialized patch (single osc, wide open filter, no resonance, etc.).

Good on you, Behringer! Now as I mainly use IOS for my music making, I’d love to see an AUv3 version for IOS, but kudos to you anyway
The sound is excellent, but:
- I need an "init" preset to start creating sounds from scratch.
- The interface looks a bit blurry.
You need to put this back in the oven. Not even close to baked. 😀
Is there Poly Aftertouch or MPE support?
I can't find an initialize patch to reset the synth. How do we initialize the synth back to default to start from scratch?
Also, at 2:10 it says that its available for AAX, but on Windows, there's no AAX in the installer. Only VST3 and stand-alone for Windows as of this post (4/28/24)

I just have 1 question: Why are most of the presets at least 2 octaves too low? Or is it just me? I'm not used to playing bass an octave above the middle C :)
It's not just you, you're right, the instrument is set too low. But well, it's free, so, can we complain?

@@NaotakuTo be honest I suppose this synth will lay down in my plugin folder, like many other free plugins, and I'm not sure I shall use it. There're steppings in the pitch bend and the product in its globality is not very interesting.

Yesterday I installed it and tried it in Reaper. High CPU load. Maybe it's just on my computer? The question arises of using it in a mix with other instruments and processing.

Can you elaborate a bit: its called "Vintage" and the video mentions "analog-modelling". Yet, the sound is more on the digital side.
