The Nissan Note isn't really a beaded seat cover car.
My Grandad had a beaded seat cover in his Metro, I never understood that or the go faster stripes he also added. The Venn diagram of go faster stripes and beaded seat covers must surely be , just my Grandad.

Modern (this term is obviously relative, I don't mean 1.0 3-cylinder turbo era) cars, even relatively big engined ones, can be surprisingly economical when sat at cruising speed on the motorway. Not unusual to see mid-40s in a Mondeo V6. Sadly, single digits are similarly possible when you give it the aforementioned beans, but it makes a great noise when converting money to noise.

You’re doing well with the Primera’s fuel economy. I must admit I haven’t undertaken the same exercise with the N15 Pulsar but I suspect it isn’t so good - that’s doing over 3000rpm at around 60mph. But it does go well pretty well through the rev range, and doesn’t mind being pushed along at 4000rpm (those GA engines are outstanding and last forever). I have to say I find the seats very good in the Pulsar, they’re firm and offer good support all round. Only thing is you feel like you’re sitting on the road when you’re driving, but then again I’m used to my Nissan Datsun ute and NV200 Vanette as they’ve been my daily rides. Thanks Ian and Miss H for sharing, and allowing me the opportunity to compare notes 😀

I find myself taking mine out down a bit of the A7 near my house from time to time and there is 3 straight bits with roundabouts and I come off and plant it slow down for the next roundabout and do the same and again and do the same again on the way back... Seat comfort is important and often overlooked. It's a reason when you get it right to stick with the same model especially if you've had bad experience with others. My Leon mark 3 is reasonable on that front. May ache a little after 3 hours or so but will recover with a short stretch and walk about. Alfa MiTo was the worst. Back ache set in after just 30 minutes and by 2 hours you were really uncomfortable. It then persisted for hours. Sold the car after a year as a result. Vauxhall Astra test drive 25 mins long and after only 15 slightly uncomfortable. No sale there then. Hyundai i20 hire car lacking in support. 1 hour wasn't good. Mazda 3. Odd one this. Uncomfortable after 30 mins, more so by 60 but by 2 hours things actually had improved. If a manual you need a good foot rest. Leon has only one for the left foot, no where to rest right foot on a cruise with cruise control on. Mark 2 Leon had one on each side. Why remove it? My focus mark 2 was also reasonable. Never had anything amazing in this respect. But I have traveled as passenger in BMW and Jags and been very comfortable. But the plush velor seats if the 90s Granada are probably my favourite

I have also done many 1000 km days over the years here in Australia in a succession of Volvos, Volkswagens and Peugeots. Also a Bluebird and a Skyline, but Nissan Australia fitted Australian designed seats. I think their engineers knew something! Also did 4 hours in a Toyota 86. No problem. On the other hand , more than an hour in a Hyundai I30 was not pleasant.

Maybe your back/bottoms are a bit ring rusty after lockdown, but tbh 300 miles in any car is as much as I want to drive before a) the call of nature forces me to stop or b) just nice to stretch the legs and have a break. Never understood drivers who seem to think driving non-stop until the tank is dry is a badge of honour. Just plan in a little break, breaks up a monotonous motorway journey and gets you to your destination feeling fresher.👍

Yeah, M4 as far as possible, then Carmarthen to Cardigan. If you have the time, heading up to Oxford and following the A44 across to the A487 coast road (using the A470 for a time) is a pleasant run. A slow one though!
