You have only done half the job this looks a gen 3 you need to remove the pump (Yes and the prop) there is a filter on the pump that needs to be cleaned it can block up and starve it of oil , gen 4 pump can be removed with prop on gen 3 pump is flat on the end the gen 4 has and tit on the end
Thanks. Info on these vehicles isn't as readily available as my other vehicles, so hopefully these help someone else. Next project should be a trans fluid change once I can get the stripped plug out and a new one in the mail. At some point I will do suspension and brakes as well.
@@mohamedkesseiri8383 I pulled out 425mL, so I put in a little more. I don't recall how much, but you have to pull 70mL out after warmup, so you need more.
What other fluid can be used ? I can’t find it anywhere in my area . There isn’t a land rover dealer and Amazon is$50 bottle but ships in 2 weeks to me
Yeah, the Haldex fluid wasn't cheap. It is a specific fluid due to friction modifiers. If you have a local Volvo or VW dealer, you may find the fluid for a similar Haldex-equipped vehicle.
No, I ended up with one for a Haldex 4 unit, the earlier LR2/Freelander 2 has a Haldex 3. There is a VIN where it switches over and the vendor updated their website after I spoke with them.
thanks for sharing this video, 2007-2008 is using haldex gen 3. gen 4 is 2009 model above
This is brilliant, thanks mate. I was avoiding this job as I thought the prop shaft had to be removed, but glad to see it's not necessary to remove

That would be great if you can do a video on trans fluid buddy :)
@@richardjones8684 I have 2 videos on the trans fluid change. Make sure to do the final fill with the engine running in Park.
Thanks a lot for the video and instructions.
You bought the Haldex 4 generation filter your car has Haldex 3 generation that's why the filter is different.
Hi. People say the pump has a filter that also needs to be cleaned. Have you done that?
I believe you have to remove the unit from the car to access the pump, so I have not attempted that yer.
@@isaacrepairseverything you can remove pump in situ that helps drain oil and I think pointless doing job without
@@grahammiller5764only gen4, he's got gen3, need to remove the shaft to clear the pump.
Hi I liked the video can I know how much oil to put in thank you

Hey mate just wondering what lift you’re using to hoist your Fl2 up on?
Cheers
It is a Quickjack 5000. I have the extension also for longer vehicles.
@@isaacrepairseverything thank you very much.

@@isaacrepairseverything yea I have a local Volvo dealer they couldn’t find me trans fluid luckily autozone ordered it for me lol
Did you buy the correct filter yet? Would you dealer that item this time?

What year is your freelander? I have fl 2007 so I have haldex 3 gen?
@@rafapachocki3166 2008. You have to check the VIN for when they switched over.
In 2009 Freelander's haldex unit gen 3?
How much quantity of Haldex fluid must be added back after having pumped out the old oil?
