Of course not always, but at times, when you go into a somewhat expensive store, I notice that the sales associate tends to act a bit snobby. Like what is up with this attitude. You're just there to help the customers pick out what they need. You're not there flaunting your personal collection of high end brand items. What part of the sales associate job makes you think you're better than everyone else?
EXACTLY and the fact that she's a potential customer too! Like shouldn't you be wanting to be as nice as possible and as helpful as possible to a potential buyer so that they'll keep coming back? It absolutely blows my mind how rude they were
This kinda reminded me of pretty woman. When they wouldn't serve her because they basically knew she was a prostitute and they thought they were like royalty compared to her.
They spend thousands of hours designing and making the clothes, they spend thousands of dollars making this videos, photo-shoots, runway shows so that at the end of the day the SALES PERSON can ruin your whole experience at the store.
Right? The designer does all the hard work and impeccable craftsmanship until some sales associate ruins it for you. Some of them are so snobbish. Like I’m sorry, not to be rude but I probably make more money than you to be shopping in this store than working in it. On top of that I would like to have some premium customer service when I’m paying so much for something. Unbelievable
I'm pregnant and slightly insane right now, if I had been with you, that sales associate would have been seriously reconsidering her life choices, by the time I was done with her.
That girl is extremely rude. After she said congratulations you manage to fit into 36 I would laugh and said yeah I didnt need you after all. Here 46 fits you better ! And walk away
Rude or not? Why sink to her level and be a classist woman. When you insult someone, you are embarrassing yourself not the other person. That being said, you shouldn't ever let these things go. She should have written to the manager and have it escalated ☺️
I was 38 when I got married, and yes, I'm quite large. When I went shopping for a wedding dress, the first sales person I spoke with asked if I was shopping for my daughter. I told her no, I'm shopping for a dress for myself, and she gave me a look like, "someone's actually going to marry YOU?!?" After a moment of looking me up and down, she said "We don't have ANYTHING your size." Got the feeling she couldn't imagine anyone my size even wanting a wedding dress. But I did eventually find a beautiful dress, MY size, and looked like a very buxom princess on my day! :)
I've gone into shops for a handbag and employees have looked at the size of me. I'm tall. Really tall. Their clothes are not going to fit me. I am well aware their clothes won't fit. I know they're biting their tongue but want to tell me that I won't fit their clothes. It's enough to put me off and ditch plans. Keep your flipping handbag, I'm done with you.
I dont get why sales associates in expensive stores would feel like they are better. I mean reality is that the customer can actually own and buy expencsive pieces of clothing while sales assistant cant afford it with his/her monthly wage. I would be depressed to sell clothes that cost more than my salary.
Maybe that's what it is. These people are depressed and fed up with the situation as you describe it. Working for the wealthy to sell things that cost more than their rent while they struggle to make ends meet has to be depressing.
not every person is rude and you dont know the reason of them working there some of them have the money to buy, that's not a very nice comment to do on sales assistants
These luxury stores products literally come off the runway so unless you're anorexic or a size 0 then you go into these stores you're gonna have that happen because the industry is bitchy and the worst industry to be in why do you think you never see models on the run way that have meat on them because if you're not starving yourself and anorexic you can't be in the industry it's always been that way and it isnt going to change anytime soon and the only time you see anyone that isn't a bag of skin and bones or even if they're plus size is in catalogues where no one ever really looks it's the way its been for decades
Fausta I can't believe your comment received so many thumbs up. It's sad really. One's value is not based on the amount of money they make despite what society says. When people look at it that way it suddenly makes sense as to why some commit suicide. I guess you must make a lot of money to have such a view. Just remember that life has no mercy and you can lose your money tomorrow.
Fausta all of the comments defending the sales associates are so dumb. I work at a brooks brothers retail store and the average pairs of pants for women is $400-$700 and lots of dresses are $1000 so the people shopping there are usually very wealthy and I don’t ever feel resentment or contempt for them and if you do you shouldn’t be working that job
Nah, I used to work for Margiela ( MMM and MM6 also ) and this shocks me, this attitude is UNACCEPTABLE, and hopefully not all stores are like this!! ( Maison Margiela - Was still Maison Martin Margiela when I started with them ) is one of the biggest designer high luxury brand... So by knowledge, what happened to her would never happen in one of The Margiela's store for sure!!!
Sarah Oz Margiela is something else tho! Like places like Gucci, Chanel, LV, Balmain and Fendi all got snotty employes! Everytime i go there to buy something for me or my girlfriend they are so lazy and give you this cocky attitude. I'm middle eastern so im brown in my skin but this is just another experience. I go inside the Gucci store, looking for a shirt and a jacket i really wanted and looked around for a bit. The sales assistants were literally only watching me and following me around... I asked them why they were following me when there were other people in there, and they literally fucking said "Oh its to prevent thieves, we do that to everyone"...
I used to work at a jewellery store next to a Tiffany. I have to say, I got a fair amount of large ticket sales from just showing genuine kindness and treating everyone the same. The number of customers I had come in who had been at Tiffany, were treated like shit and so changed their mind and walked into my store was ridiculous. The sincere thanks I received was disgraceful, because it shows how poorly they were treated elsewhere. I made dozens of 12-30k sales in that store, which Tiffany could have easily snapped up before I even got a chance, had they not judged a book by it's cover.
it's really sad how people are still profiling the possible customers as if it were 80s and we lived in a "Pretty woman" movie. I've had bad experiences with shop assistants glaring me down and following me, I had the opposite reaction even if i was dressed the same. I guess some people can see you're determined to buy and will provide you with help, in most times, though, i got cut replies and were ignored even if i wanted to spend quite a sum. The thing with sales is it's moving mostly online and having bad sales person might cost the business much more than one can imagine.
she was just being petty, passive aggressive and jealous that you could afford a balmain blazer and she was just behind a counter. LOL , I'm glad you weren't hurt, this would have reduced someone to tears or worse triggered an eating disorder!!! If this had happened to me as a teen I would have simply stopped eating. sad but true.
+strawberry bubblepop you can't say that at all. One small comment stays in your head. It expands and everything anyone says seems like they're saying "YOUR FAT!" Right in your face. Don't say that. You don't know.
strawberry bubblepop yes that's true , but don't you remember what it was like to be a teenager? I know lots of young ppl are very impressionable and a comment about their weight plus an already low self esteem can push you over the edge at a young age.
Like me 😓 but I remember being a 10-12 maybe to a 14 and getting some terrible customer service on sales associates saying things like “we don’t go above an L here” before I’ve even asked for a medium - or worse “we have some fragrance in the back that might be more suited to your needs” funnily enough I don’t have a sense of smell so the clothes would have done fine 🙄
You're clearly not able to mistake someone's size by that much, she was being passive aggressive....most likely jealous. I'd make a complaint to management.
I went into a newly opened "high end" gym with the intention of joining. When I spoke with the sales associate she looked me up and down then with a smug look she said that I would not fit in with the clientele that worked out in the facility. Without missing a beat I told her that I certainly "fit in" and that she was quite rude and that my medical colleagues will hear of this incident and would not be joining as well. I then asked to speak to management. Furthermore, I called the owners of the gym and relayed what transpired. The gym was apologetic and offered me 1 year free membership.
Do not play the basic sales woman game. Always act confident and unbothered even if you're in "jeans t shirt" shopping at Hermes. I am from Paris and I can assure you we are full of those. Most of them actually want you to feel embarassed because they are kind of bored and get a high off of working in luxury. You don't want an opinion you want to try that damn blazer so next time just ask her with a smile to do her job or leave immediately.
Miss Management I have heard that in Paris..or in France in general maybe, you must not be too nice to salespeople. You should be a bit dismissive (but not rude or uncivil) and treat them like they're just objects of service. That way they'll try their hardest to offer you good service. If you're too nice to them they'll look down on you and walk all over you. Oui?
They work as a salesperson in a clothing store. I don't care what designer it is... just think about it. How could a salesperson be intimidating? They're not politicians, lawyers, dr's, or humanitarians, noble piece prize winners, millionaires... ridiculous. 🙄
I was told by a sales assistant that none of the clothes would fit me. I grabbed my size put it on, walked to the counter, gave her the finger and said she can shove her commission up her arse. I went another day when those two weren't working and I had GREAT service. So I bought it and asked if I could talk to the manager for great service. I then slipped in the name of the two other ladies and was told that it was their last day and the were already fired for "unprofessionalism". Slightly happy.
Why oh why did you not complain to management!? I've worked in retail for a good portion of my life and would NEVER tolerate this attitude from one of my employees. Please people, complain about employees like this. People should not get away with stuff like this and management wants to know. Employees like this are bad for business, as seen here. They lost a potential sale with you.
As someone that owns a company, yes. I do not want that sort of person representing my company and would be mortified to find out a customer was treated as such.
Wander With Purpose Yes, but those so called high end fashion stores don't care. It can depend on the store location, but the managers higher people like them.
That kind of attitude won't get you anything. Moaning about an issue and then doing nothing about it will only perpetuate a broken system. If there's an issue complain, move up the chain of command if you have to. It never hurts to complain (about serious issues). In my experience if you really want something done about an issue turn to social media. I have gotten many problems resolved with companies simply by posting my issues on their Facebook, Twitter or Yelp pages. You just need to know how to word the issue, taking care to use wording that will trigger the correct response. Overly emotional posts will get you labeled as a crazy and they won't pay attention to them.
My surgeon once told me a story. He is quite small and doesn’t wear obviously expensive stuff. He went to Hermès to buy a handbag for his wife. He had decided to spend a maximum of $40’000 (Mind you, the man has 6 vintage Ferrari). The sales assistant wasn’t willing to give proper support and even told him, he shouldn’t look at a specific handbag because it was very expensive, not even talking to him about the budget he had in mind. He left and ordered the bag in a boutique in St. Moritz. That scene from Pretty Woman comes to mind, when Julia Roberts goes back to the boutique with all the shopping bags, telling the staff they had made a stupid mistake.
My father has a friend who is really rich, he just isn't the type to show his wealth. So he went to a showroom to get a car, we're talking top of the line, fresh out of the factory to the point where the paint hadn't even dried on it new. The dealer looked him up and down and tried talking him out of buying it, even suggested payment in monthly installments. He pointed at the most expensive model and said he'd pay in cash as he opened his little bag of money that he had brought him. Needless to say, he was treated like a king after that.
@@AnamariaTo No.... it is better for a nurse or a firefighter, or a garbageman to not be able to buy what a overpaid surgeon can buy... they provide no value to the world.... this basketball player you're talking about is getting paid so much because he helps sell products... products over paid people in society then desire to buy.... like this too rich surgeon.... and by the way, in normal developed first world countries, surgeons aren't millionaires....
Kahutoi I agree. My opinion is that rude SAs, such as the individual mentioned in the video, have a baseline narcissistic, teetering on manipulative, sociopathic personality. It allows the SAs to feel better about themselves. 🤷♀️
I find women who work in designer shops are extremely stuck up. I had an experience in a shop where i had gone in to buy some specific items of clothing i had my eye on. Well the two assistants are talking loud enough for me to hear that i clearly don't have the money to shop there. I'm not their type of customer etc. Unfortunately for them they had a job vacancy up on window where it clearly states the wage is £7.00 an hour. I did point out to them if i'm poor to shop there then they really, really can't afford to shop there. At the end of the day, you're still a shop assistant whether you work at Primark or Balmain.
They looked rather embarrassed and i think they got into a bit of trouble as their manager and other customers had heard this exchange. The manager apologized and I did get 30% off my purchases so i was pretty happy with that. I still never shopped in there again though. If my custom isn't good enough for them then fine i'll go elsewhere. I don't know how places like that expect to make money when they want to chase people away, it's silly.
Leeann Tierney Yeah, of course not all of them but there definitely is those people, I went to a Paul Smith outlet not that long ago and I bought a t shirt, I spent pretty much all of my money the previous day but I really liked the shirt and I managed to pull just enough change out of my wallet to buy it, the male sales assistant who found the size and specific shirt I wanted for me was very friendly and helpful, the woman at the till gave off such a rude vibe because I basically just had enough money to pay for the item, if you're buying something from their store I don't understand why they need to be a snob about it if you're not as rich as most of the other customers, wether you're somebody who could afford the same item with a days pay or weeks/months pay, they should be happy you're spending your money there and giving you a good experience to make you want to do it again.
Many decades ago my grandfather got the ultimate revenge on a rude sales staff. He was in NYC and went into a Rolls Royce dealership to buy my grandmother a car. He was dressed very casually (he hated suits) and was ignored by the staff. At some point he was approached but only to be asked rudely what he thought he was doing there. Offended by the rude treatment, he left.....Then, to make a statement to the sales associates who first ignored and were subsequently rude to him, he bought the entire dealership, fired the sales associates involved, and later sold the dealership (minus a car for my grandmother.) I guess those people got the message “don’t judge a book by its cover” loud and clear!
Don't feel bad, just remember...you are SHOPPING in that high end store....they are only working in it. I was shopping in Louboutin for some knee high boots...the sales assistant told me that my size wouldn't fit my calf. Charming! They did fit.
Yeah they're really uppity on Rodeo Drive as well. Incredible for girls that probably can't even afford their own goods and share an apartment with 2 other people.
A similar thing like that happened to me at a Louis Vuitton store, I went in to purchase a purse and did not dress up, I just wore my crappy jeans and shirt, and the sales lady just ignored me and went directly to these two teen girls that were all dressed up. But the other sales clerk that took care of me got a large sale and the teens left without a purchase. I just felt like laughing at her but I just took my new purse and left.
Yess that usually how I go in to my LV store comfy is my name That's what that SA gets but that happened to me at Chanel some SAs are dumb and yes bitter
I was told by a Vivienne Westwood sales assistant a few years ago that " Vivienne Westwood doesn't design for fat people " to my face ...... I just walk away
+epifanny thats somehow true, sadly, designers intentionally make their sizes small and true to size, if u compare a size 8 in top shop its bigger than a size 8 in louis vuitton, they just work this way.....
@Luci K Yes they can, we (employees) get 30% off all year long sometimes even more. Balmain salary is around 3k + around 800$ monthly bonus if you reach the 100% target, even more if you reach 120% and I'm only talking about collective target not indivual target which also adds some money (depends of the brand, where I work I get 600$ if I reach my personal target) . Also you get plenty of stuff from the brand you work for like free uniform and free pressing (some brands like Dior even offer free hairdresser and free nail care once every month) so you don't spend too much money. If you do the maths they definitely can afford them. For exemple at a certain brand (can't name it but I'm pretty sure you'll figure it out easily, it starts with a L) we get 2% whenever we sell an exotic leather bag, I'll let you calculate how much we can win off a 15k$+ bag especially if we sell quite a few in the month.
OMG if she's worked for Balmain for blah years and she still can't get it right, maybe she either needs to consider another profession or get glasses. How rude.
Dixie Girlxox it's because it's a designer place it's appalling but unless you're a size zero then it's not for you as all the model are very much anorexic you never see anyone that's not skin and bones on the runways it's the way that industry is and always has been and it isn't gonna change anytime soon it's a very degrading and bitchy industry whether it's in the designers shops or in the modelling industry
AaronW3440 i believe it's illegal in france for models to be anorexic (i.e they can't model without being checked healthy by a doctor) so things are changing for the better, just slowly.
That’s called passive aggressive behaviour when someone cloaks a statement in cute, joking way, but the words and their intent are really a dig or a criticism. It’s not much fun when you encounter those kinds of people.
So ridiculous considering Balmain dresses some of the bigger butts of Hollywood-Kartrashians. Kim would look ridiculous wearing regular civilian clothes that were not fitted or specifically designed for her. If all of us were able to have clothes fitted to us we would look so different. That is what young people don't get yet.
It kind of sounds to me like they actually did know your size, but wanted to trick you into buying a much bigger blazer so that you would end up having to spend even more money for them to alter it for you. And yeah, on top of that they probably were just snobby and jealous that you could afford a Balmain blazer and that you're thin.
Maybe that jacket size 38 was being hidden for another customer too. My first thought it might be for her (the bitch salesperson) or was hiding it for someone else. It was s big difference in sizing from 38 to 48. She’s nuts.
@@marieanne7569 I think they were flabbergasted at Sophie's attractiveness and her slimness plus breast size. I happen to be naturally slim and rather big breasted for my size, naturally. This people cannot cope with. My work colleagues in a job actually placed bets on whether they were natural or not. When I refused to answer, they assumed: NOT. It was outrageous and very very nasty. Another woman in a workplace was always looking me up and down and spoke with me in a very patronising way. She kept going on about the size of my feet. Well, they are big but then again I'm tall. What of it? She was always banging on about 'my husband' very pointedly as I was single at the time. I feel sorry for those people whose only way of feeling good about themselves is to try and bring someone else down. They're sad people.
When I was going through college, I worked at a mens store. We absolutely knew people's size when they walked in the door. We got a commission on what we sold so it was in our best interest to show the customer items in their size.
I was in Harrods dressed like a tramp with leggings and hoodie, and got a very frosty reception...but you should have seen their faces when I bought a 3k watch from their colleague 🤪😂
Koffee Kat that surprises me. In Harrods they are (or at least used to be) trained to understand that some of their wealthiest customers are the ones who walk in with holes in their shoes.
Jealousy! 😈 Thing is it wouldn't matter what you were wearing it would outshine the bitter and twisted attitude of that salesperson regardless of where she worked. A similar thing happened to me @ the Superdrug store in the Arndale centre back in 2010. The assistant said: "Will that fit you though?" I took in a size 14 and it did no problem; cheeky Cow! X
I get fitted by Balmain about three times a year in the U.S., and I can't believe this happened to you! I'm *so* heartbroken for you, this is *SO* unacceptable, you should NEVER feel uncomfortable or awkward in a boutique! You're there to enjoy a shopping experience and consider their luxury merchandise, not to be ridiculed and/or treated poorly by obnoxious sales staff! I'm *so* angry Sophie, this is not ok >:(
unfortunately you can find often that kind of ladies in Luxus boutiques. they act like they are the designers of Dior and Balmain etc. and in fact they are service ladies. Don't care about them.
I went into a little boutique in my village that sells high end makeup and perfume. i was going to buy Chanel Mademoiselle for my mum just for a nice gift nothing special. so i decided to ask how much the 100ml was. the sales lady was like 'I'm sorry but its a little expensive and perhaps out of your range'. mind you i didn't even give her any indication of how much i was willing to spend. Her snide comments just annoyed me so after her telling the price i was like ' Can i have two and can u gift wrap them.' she looked at me and had the gall to say 'are you sure you can afford it.' man that was the most annoying thing ever. later when paying she was like cash or card i proceed to pull out the full amount in cash and she then was like ohh i guess its ur birthday money. i then called the manger over and explained the prejudice that i was receiving from this sales women. the manger reassured me that i was to receive a store discount and a apology from the sale assistant.
OH MY GOD, this is terrible! 😨😨😨😨 I was reading and was thinking... this can't get any worse, THEN IT DID! I am so sorry this happened to you Salma :( I must confess that most of my experiences have been good, but this was one of the (few) bad experiences! Glad you got your perfume, AND store discount plus apology! The least they could have done!!! Hugs xx
Wow. A great example of people who should not be working in customer service. I am so sorry that you (and Sophie) had those experiences... You dealt with it appropriately.
I can truly relate to this, especially as a black "shapely" woman. I have darker brown skin as well as an hourglass shape so when I enter higher end stores people stare at me like I'm wearing a chicken suit. The stares don't bother me as much as the interactions because people always assume that I can't afford things and they never know how to fit a woman with my body shape. Oh well, ignorance won't stop my hustle lol.
Forest Cee Well i’m skinny „brick” shape, sickly pale and they treat me the same way. :( one of those even said that I have too small breast for their sizes (Which were too tight...) Always talk to the manager dont let them win.
Honey, if that were me, I would have been laughing right there with her asking her to fetch me her manager so I can congratulate them on how "great" their customer service is right in front of the witch. All the while taking in every once of fear of her losing her job as her manager continues listening to the complaints I give. I'll cherry the top by telling them how much I was looking forward to buying the blazer but have since lost the interest by such a disdainful experience, telling them this was arguably my worst experience at any store ever and that I'll write a proper review of clothing store. Smiling and wishing the witch who wish hadn't a pleasant day
Terrance Owens the managers in those places don't give two shits it's the reality of designer and luxury items if you don't look posh and rich or skin and bones anorexic or a size zero then this is going to happen why do you think you never see anyone plus size, bigger than a size 0 and non anorexic people on the run ways anyone who isn't anorexic or a size 0 get put to the catalogues where nobody will ever see them because no one goes through catalogues in this day and age that industry is the worst and bitchy industry anyone can be in it's been that way for decades and its not gonna change anytime soon because the sad truth is nobody actually cares and that's the way society is if you're too fat you're disgusting need to exercise and stop eating the body weight in food etc and if you're to skinny you're disgusting need to eat more carbs/calories etc society doesn't realise that there is medical conditions that can cause some (very rarely though) to be overweight such as under active thyroid , steroid medications especially asthmatics etc and not every very slim people are on drugs or have an eating disorder some have an over active thyroid
AaronW3440 Syntax, do you know what it is? And skinny people are on the runway because clothes will fall better on them + they won't need as much fabric than they'd require for a larger person (which makes sense when you consider the amount of work put on the clothes). It's as simple as that.
Hypothyroidism is not rare. It's just under diagnosed. I was 30lbs heavier and had an eating disorder before going on the right thyroid hormone that made me lose weight.
AaronW3440 Comparing person in size zero to a person who struggles with unfortunte eating disorder is distasteful. There are people in size zero who are athletic, very healthy and look great. Calling someone too skinny is no better than calling someone fat, it's same old body shaming. I hope you don't work in retail.
I had this at a Chanel counter. I was wanting to buy my normal products, and the girl actually looked me up and down and said that I couldn't afford it. So I smiled and went to the Sisley counter next door, even though they're triple the price, and bought from them instead.
Ella Vella omg that is horrible. I went to the Chanel counter in very casual clothes, I was very embarrassed but the lady at the counter told me all about the perfume I wanted to purchase!! No judgment from her whatsoever :)
i had a nurse tell me i had to lose weight because of my astma, all fine, but she added:'and your boyfriend will like it better if you are thinner' i am stil like: WTF!!!
The first part might have been true, losing weight to improve her asthma but the second part was purely a rude ass opinion and outside of a nurses realm of acceptable behavior.
My mum once went into a store just to look around, a sales lady walked up to her and said that they don't have anything in her size, little did they know she was shopping for me, size 34-36 EU, 4-6 UK. People are so rude
I DON'T GET WHY SALE ASSOCIATES TRY AND KICK PEOPLE OUT OF THE STORE IF THEY'RE LARGE????? LIKE THEY COULD VERY WELL BE BUYING GIFTS AND SUCH. WHAT BENEFIT DO THEY GET OUT OF SAYING "You aren't skinny. Get out. "
If I was there: Sales: Congratulations, you’re smaller than I thought! Me: (All smiley) Dear (name tag), How many years did you say you have worked for Balmain? Sales: X years. Me: Just wondering, have you ever received any sort of complaint from customers or a warning letter, etc.? Sales: No. Me: Well, congratulations to you too, because you’re about to get a serious one very soon! Edit | Back | Copy | X New text
I had similar experience . I'm a size 0 and I was told by the sale associate Wow I never knew black girls could be small. I laughed especially since she said I hope your not offended. I said know Im embarrassed for you and I just saved your life. She said how so? I said because I don't address people like you, but if my older sisters or another black girl comes in, I would suggest you never say that to another person again regardless of race ,because they may possibly jump on you regardless of their race or size. She kept apologizing. She actually thought she was complimenting me. Such an idiot!!!! I'm sorry you went through that. I love your channel and your personality. You rock!!!!!
hafff it okay :D I graduated sales assistant, I have 4 years of education as sales assistant, and i love people and I always hear what customers are saying and give my own opinion to colors but i never never says to the customer you are using this size it is not okay to say :D
A little personal experience from me-When i was a teen i had the opportunity to work in a very expensive boutique with mostly clients of high class and even celebrities from time to time so i can say i have a little experience in this field . I always treated my clients with respect and kindness no matter how they looked and if they bought or not. One of the biggest mistakes in retail is to treat someone bad purely based on how they are dressed , their size and YOUR views about how much they are worth and be rude just because you are not i a good mood, this just shows bad skills , bad manners and non professionalism. My clients were gods and they were treated as such , thats why i made many regular customers and my boss was pleased and my customers were please to shop in a friendly environment . Not everyone is meant to work in retail and no matter if you are working for Balmain or the pound store you need to do your job right ,dont be fucking rude and dont insult people just because you have a bad day this is non of the client’s concern and at the end of the day your salary depends on them and this is what you were paid to do in the first place.
What always gets me about these stories is.... These people work in retail. Not that there's nothing wrong with that. But some act as if they aren't behind a counter serving YOU.
What gets me is they act like they actually own the store/label/brand. It's like no dear you are employee just like the rest of us who have regular jobs and don't own a business.
I always find it a horrible experience when I have to tell a customer that we can't go a size up, so I apologise that our store couldn't fit their need. When I give a customer a size that's too big for her or him I apologise for judging poorly, not bloody congratulate them ( unless they were dieting and working out to get into that certain size and they told me sure.) You should have called customer service.
Maybe she was trying to sell the alteration service or get rid of the bigger sizes. In any case, it's pretty awkward and not in her interest to make customers unhappy
I absolutely loathe any sales lady from a higher end clothing brand. They always give me dirty looks when I walk in because I'm not one of their old, wrinkled, overly perfumed customers.
true and they often look at me like I can't afford it just because Im wearing comfortable clothes for these few hours of shopping (because I rarely shop). I don't get why they just assume they can be disrespectful when it's their job to help customers no matter what they think about them.
Exactly! I'm someone who always wears a blouse, cute jeans and heels but not when I go shopping and have to walk for hours and change my clothes all the time. Would I walk in in the first outfit they'd treat me like how a customer should be treated yet apparently the second outfit gives them the authority to judge the hell out of me and to give me a nasty attitude. -_-
Not a size story but I know for a fact in stores like this, they kind of size you up to tell if you can even afford their brand. I've been barely glanced at and mostly ignored in shops when I've walked in with a department store handbag on my shoulder. Make it an LV and a Rolex on the wrist and they trip over themselves to serve me. It's pathetic. Why should anyone deserve any less respect even if they're just window shopping?
It's a nouveau riche thing. Nouveau riche wear their wealth as they are insecure that people don't know they have money. They therefore spend it on crap to show off. They effectively waste money on flash. Cover themselves with logos. Old money preserves the fortune and usually dresses down; buys quality garments but makes them last for years if not decades. No conspicuous consumption. Wouldn't be seen dead with a logo plastered across their chest or arse screaming at the world 'Look at meeeeeeee! I have money!" The little scrunts that work in these stores would know that appearance is not always an indicator of wealth if they weren't from the gutter themselves and had a wider view of the world.
The reality is that whether the store is high-end luxury or H&M, it's the job of the sales crew to get you to spend your money on their product. Ergo, you as the customer is the one with the power - even if you are in Hermes but have a Walmart budget. Snobbery on their part is completely counter-productive. Never ever spend your money in a store where the sales crew make you feel uncomfortable. They'll soon learn.
This is the first video I've watched of yours. Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I work in retail and it's beyond unacceptable. You're very gorgeous.
Thats very strange bearing in mind that Kim Kardashian always wears Balmain and she is in no way a petite woman. She is not fat per say but I would definitely say she is on the curvy side.
Daniel Salvador I am not talking about her height, I am talking about the composition of her body weight. Megan Fox is also 5ft 3, she is more petite and definitely not the same size as Kim K. Not hating, just pointing out the obvious :)
it makes me laugh how all these sale assistants got the job when they have terrible customer service over people that do have great customer service skills...its such a joke!
I know right! What ever happened to respect!? People need to stop being so damn rude and judgy all the time. At the end of the day looks don't really matter that much anyways. Mainly just health and happiness
+vstevens11 i do the same.. but the fact of the matter is we shouldnt have to do that we shouldnt have to walk with are guards up were the customer and its their JOB
Im a guy, litterally covered in tattoos and I use to look kinda rough... Recently I've been getting into fashion and started to dress more "fancy". It was hard at the start because I knew people in the store didn't tried to help me because of the way I look. Anyway, I really love your channel and you helped me a lot, kinda feel like we are friends now haha! Cheers from montreal!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment Jonathan! 🙏🏽I totally get what you mean, and it’s annoying that people are quick to judge. I actually really like that edgy/polished look when you mix tattoos and piercings with a high fashion look. A friend of mine is HEAD TO TOE in tattoos, there’s not a place on her body she hasn’t tattooed....and then people hear her speak.. she has the POSHEST British accent. Like, you weren’t expecting that somehow! So many people when we’re out and about get taken aback. I think it’s cool though, I got a whole bunch of ear piercings last year and I’m already planning more and (maybe) a tattoo 😁 Keep doing you my friend and enjoy your shopping xx😘😘
Not to offend anyone, but if this happened in the UK I wouldn't expect anything less. My mom is from the UK and we live in Canada (my dad and I were born and raised in Canada). Anyways, sales associates in the UK are rude af compared to Canada and the US. Whenever I shop in the UK I am appalled at the customer service and such. I have shopped at Burberry, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton and no one has ever told me I'm fat and I am bigger than you... Went shopping in London and experienced similar shit.
Hmm, I live in London & I really can't say it's common to be treated this way by any assistant born & raised here {& you can tell by their accent!} but there are A LOT of Brazilian/Portugese/Spanish {basically, immagrants} working over here in London, as assistance, who I find to be INCREDIBLY rude. It's so frustrating because you can almost always be dead sure they're going to treat you like shit, & it just makes me wonder why they even bother. Sigh... who knows. But if you ever find yourself being treated like shit, you should definitely report it, or speak up.
i live in the UK and i have never ever experienced poor customer service. i'm overweight too, yet i've always been helped and treated nicely. i don't think customer service in the uk is any worse than the us.
That is clearly an assumption you have made there thinking that it is definitely true because it is not. there may be the odd few shops like that, but not very much. i have personally never had any bad customer service.
Anytime I've ever encountered obnoxious behavior with sales people I immediately call them out on it to their face. Most are aged Mean Girls and are shocked that someone would put them in their place.
You're the best storyteller! That sales clerk was insane and so rude. She lost a nice sale. This is why self-esteem is so important. She couldn't hurt you, and it seems she was trying her best to do so. Thanks for sharing this story! Glad I discovered you.
I fucking shamoo, they'd chase me with a damn fishing net and spear! Totally ridiculous that we live in a world where someone who looks like this is body shamed and called fat!
I managed a lingerie boutique in Dallas, TX. A woman called me in tears one afternoon because a sales person in the lingerie department at Neiman Marcus, North Park handed her a plastic surgeon's business card. I sold her one of everything I had in her size...and we had fun! Just a note to those of you not in the know: back in the day (even as late as the early 2000's) commissions in retail could make one a very solid hourly wage of more than $20/hour on a 10a-6p schedule, which wasn't bad for a "starving" college student. Some people made over $100k/year selling stuff like china, haute couture, and women's shoes. Doubt if it's like that any more. Thanks for posting. People like this need to be removed from their comfort zones.
Even if a customer is on a more "corpulent" side it is the duty of a sales assitant to be helpful and polite and make your possible customer feel comfortable. Was she still on drugs on a Monday? I love your videos, you are a great youtuber!
Right! Customer is a customer, regardless of the size, how he is dressed, nationality etc. A good thing to remember is that so many jobs are serving people, we all serve each other in different ways. So when you're a customer, you obviously don't want to be treated like that. Everyone has his own issues, but there's no need to bring that shit to work, it's not the customers fault so why only ruining someone elses day...
Once I went into a Chanel make-up store and I wanted to buy my sisters presents for Christmas and it was my first time ever because I'm the youngest and I wanted it to be special. And as I was the only 17 year old in the store nobody wanted to assist me, they might have thought I am there just to try out the testers. I ended up at the till with products worth over 100 quid and when I pulled out my card the lady was surprised I was actually buying them ... Like seriously? It was Christmas, tis the time to be jolly and nice and not judgemental.
A saleswoman in France snatched a dolce and gabbana dress out of my hands and told me in French I was too fat, thinking I didn't understand her. I'm a US size 2 (uk size 4?) and I tried on the dress after she left and it fit AMAZINGLY well. Took photos of it and left cause I was 20 and don't need a $1000 dress. 😂
+Hype Q um... but she isn't. Anyone with open eyes can clearly see that. However, even if she was overweight that doesn't allow the saleswoman to behave the way she did.
That's the most backward-ass way to make a commission that I've ever heard. You try to convince the customer they look good in an item so they'll buy it; making fun of or mocking them is a good way to make them walk out without buying anything. She must not like money very much because if she had been helpful, kind, pleasant, etc. she could have made a sale.
I went into Victoria's Secret once and had a saleslady run after me shouting "Ma'am, I don't think we have anything in your size here!" I let her catch up to me and I said "Does your perfume come in sizes now?" She laughed, somewhat self-consciously and said "Well, of course not." I told her "I'm here to get a bottle of perfume for my sister's birthday. And I didn't appreciate you yelling across the store that I'm too fat to shop here. I know that perfectly well." I have never been back to VS ever again. As a plus size person, I know the pitfalls of SWF (shopping while fat).
You should've remembered the name of the shop assistant and write it down in the video description, as well as the address of this particular store. Behavior like that is unacceptable, it's unbelievable!
I once walked into a shop in the mall with my very thin friend and the sales associate greeted her. It ignored me. After she got my friend what she wanted she looked T me and said" are you looking for a gift for someone?" My friend heard this - and we walked out without her purchase. Can you believe it? It was awful and ruined what was supposed to be a fun day shopping with my bff. Btw- I'm not heavy, or over large.
reminds me of the pretty woman scene in the Beverly hills store where they look down on her for how she's dressed. No need for their actions or words. When I walk into stores like River Island or Hollister to buy accessories I get looked at and sniggered at even though I'm not buying clothes. I'm a size 22 UK and its horrid the way some assistants make snide comments and look at you all dodgy.
I'm a size 20 and I get the same treatment in a lot of places. I don't understand the attitude, they are after all at work and fair enough, it's a shop where people can be quite casual, but I think a lesson in professionalism is needed.
Anni I completely agree. I used to be a waitress in quite a swanky restaurant/bar and if I gave customers a funny look or made comments on the way they spoke or ate etc I would have been sacked. So I don't see how people think it's acceptable in the fashion industry.
I don't even bother going into shops like Hollister or TopShop - even to buy accessories. Why should I give a brand my money for their accessories if they don't want my money for their clothing?
One time I was in chanel store in Jakarta when i want to buy my first chanel bag, well, I wear jeans and tshirt also a flip flop, the SA didnt even care to look at me, i was asking how much for a chanel classic handbag, and they dont even care to answer! They literally just pretend that they didnt hear me. I was so shocked, I shake my head and go. Then I was in MBS singapore, literally had a plastic bag with briyani rice in it when I walked in to the chanel store, they were so polite, welcoming, everything I wanted in a shopping experience, end up buying my first chanel there and more afterwards.
Omg so rude. I walked into a high end store after working out at my gym nearby. The lady kept looking me up and down as soon as I walked in. I almost asked her if there’s a problem? I wanted to look at some pieces and she kept following me around too. I immediately left. It was such a turn off. Thank God for online shopping for some of these things.
I don't understand why some sales associates are so rude and snobby! What're they trying to achieve by making their customer miserable! These days to see a genuinely cheerful, friendly sales person seems so rare and can really make a person's day! You're frigging gorgeous and have a figure many would envy, if anything she must've been jealous!
+cgyli If I was there with a friend or my husband, I probably would have done. I was not prepared for what happened and just wanted to leave. It's for sure one of those situations where you are so shocked at the time you do nothing, then days later the anger sets in! 😡😡😤xx
I get what you mean. If I was too shocked to call the manager, I'd have called in the same location to speak to the manager at a later time, and report the associates name. That is NOT how you speak to a customer, and I'd be damned to be an enabler to someone who acts obnoxious just because they spend their day selling overpriced clothing.
+Sophie Shohet | Fashion Beauty Lifestyle i used go be like that, nowadays i give them a piece of my mind on the spot! Not worth me getting angry over such things later on when you can just handle it right away
I worked in a competition based sales thing once concerning tours and such. I remember a family from China who had tickets for the competition wanting some info but their ticket already expired. They were treated horrible by the company whose expired tickets they had so I helped them out. Turned out they wanted every attraction ticket under the sun so I sold hundreds of pounds worth of tickets and tours. They also waited for me the next day at my stop bringing bags of food with them (they owned a company) telling me they would come back with their entire family the following year lol. Such sweet people.
"You're congratulations is much appreciated. I've always wanted to be congratulated on my size by a sales associate who cannot even afford the clothes she's selling to me. Thank you." Then I'd have smiled, walked off, tried to find someone nicer who deserves the commission or just left. You should put snobby people like that in their place. They need a reality check and bringing back into the real world, especially when they're being snobby at people who can afford the clothes that they sell, that they can't afford.
+JayyRod Why do you want to know? Is my clothing preference important to you? Do you just want to make me look stupid for some reason. Sweet, it doesn't matter. Sales people do not get given free clothing just because they work in that store and as most people who work in these stores make nation minimum wage, the only way they can afford the expensive clothes they sell is if they live with their parents and pay no bills. Also, I've been Balmain and walked straight back out, same with Chanel. I've shopped in these places and been give a similar treatment.
+JayyRod End of the day,I don't care what people can afford, just be a nice person. I couldn't care if you're wearing primark or Chanel, don't be rude, don't think you're better than other people. This person is very rude and I've met a lot of sales people who are just as rude, if not worse. I hope you were one of the respectful salespeople. End of the day, is someone is rude and stuck up to me, I'll give it them back and see how they like the way they've been treated. Treat others as you would like to be treated yourself.
Cece Cheung You're acting as if more money means you deserve more respect. So what if they can't afford certain things? What does that have to do with anything?
I once went to get makeup at a MAC store and then while I was looking through the stuff heard someone say "no amount of makeup will ever fix whatever's going on with her face" and I literally dropped whatever I was holding and left. So. Fucking. Rude.
Omg I've only had one great MAC experiences and I've been too many, I've been ignored, told to wait even when store was empty, and even once was waiting while one of the workers was trying stuff on herself instead of letting me check out. So horrible
This feels very typical for expensive stores. If you don't look like a millionaire they will try to make you leave instead of actually helping you. As soon as you walk in to those stores and you're not dressed from top to toe with expensive clothes, they WILL judge you - unfortunately. Maybe because they feel like you will not buy anything or are afraid that you might scare away the rich customers hahaha My dad and I were in Milan and we were looking for stuff to buy in those expensive shops, we're Bulgarian so we talked in Bulgarian to each other. In every single store, the staff followed us around and spoke Russian to us. We were so offended by that, especially my dad because he kind of hates Russia (because of communism you know) - and the staff were not Russian themselves (some were from Slovakia, some from Ukraine) so they COULD tell the difference between Bulgarian and Russian but nooooo they didn't care about that. They just spoke Russian to us, I don't speak Russian at all and my dad used it in school 40 years ago because he had to. I thought it was very strange that they basically had orders to speak Russian to any East European person walking in to the store. We did not like that at all. But we actually found a Bulgarian working in Bottega Venetta so that was nice, he spoke english FIRST and then he asked us if we were Bulgarian. Like a normal person would. I don't mind that people speak Russian, and I would like to learn it myself but it's really in your face when they do it in expensive stores - especially when they can hear clearly that you are not Russian. And Russia is a very sensitive subject in East Europe and the balkans. So these people should know this and not try to offend their customers.
My story is opposite, lol. I normally wear size S or M depends on the brand and country. Well, in thailand pp are so tiny. I took a blouse size S to try but the SA told me "No madame I think you need L" I refused to take L to try on but she kept insisting me bring with. I tried the M on and it was....a bit tight then the L was perfectly fit. so....what's happened next? I told her the L was to big and M was perfect. I purchased the M and it's in my closet with the price tag for 8 years now hahaha.
I am amazed at your restraint. British sarcasm is the most passive aggressive nonsense I have ever come across. I usually give those types of sales assistants both barrells. Who do they think they are? Then again I would never shell out £1000 pounds of my hard earned cash for a bloody blazer. Give me Zara, Banana Republic, Matches, etc and they usually have better tailored jackets and blazers. Why can tell its a bloody Balmain blazer anyway.?? Ridiculous what people will put themselves through for some overprized designer garb.
I had something even worse than that, I went to buy a party dress and I was literally kicked out of the store because I was too fat... Like the women literally opened the door and is like "We don't have your size bye." In your case you are not fat but in my case it was terribly uncomfortable and embarassing xD
+Sophie Shohet | Fashion Beauty Lifestyle why do you keep ignoring when people ask you which store this happened in? It clearly didn't happen in the flagship Mayfair boutique because they don't have curtains in their fitting rooms and have only been open for a year so the person couldn't have worked there for "years".
+Alonica Abad I don't see how it's harsh or rude. Many people have asked to know which store this happened in. It's not the flagship store which means it's a department store and therefore not Balmain.
I‘ve come back to this video because THIS happened to me last week at Burberry in Austria. I am a size Uk size 10. At Burberry I wanted to try a wool coat and the sales woman was like „let me look for your size“ .. she handed me a size 16. I was like „NO I need a size 10“.. (I own several Burberry coats and they are all size 10) She looked me up and down and said „ no size 16 fits .. trust me. I didn‘t try on the coat .. she got a „I am not interested in the coat anymore“ and literally stormed out of the shop. It is so sad. Many women - me included - struggle with their body image and situation like this amplify our insecurities
Another quick incident I had at Mac, rude saleslady who ignored me. Of course I told her she's rude and she came to assist and I kept picking so many items (probably half the store). Suddenly she was super nice till we got at the till, then I told her I change my mind and left the store with the hugest smirk. Well I didn't feel guilty cause it was a lesson for her, she got served lol
Good on you, I know that there must be some nice people but most people in there are so rude. The only time they show interest is when they are getting something out of you, money.
Yesss, good on you for standing up and giving her taste of her own medicine 😂😂😂 the Mac store I go to has the nicest people, they're always approaching customers nicely and are sweet and helpful when assisting. But if one ever pisses me off I'm doing this 😄
"As someone who works in a fashion store, you should have a better eye for sizes, don't you think?" is the response I'd give, if I managed to get myself composed enough :D
The problem is we can all think of the perfect reply AFTER the event...lol! It's challenging to think of a witty riposte and then save it for when useful. LGBTI people are often the best at this probably because they encounter harsh unnecessary comments on a regular basis. Primed for it. Which is a harsh comment on our society.
This happened to me in, of all places, Victoria Secret. I walked into one of their retail stores and one of the sales people approached me and said "I'm sorry but we don't have your size." I've shopped in VS retail stores and online for YEARS so I do know they have my size but I was actually there to get some items for my college age daughter. I said, "I'm shopping for my daughter" and the salesgirl goes "Oh, Ok" like she was the gatekeeper and giving me permission to shop there. I have never stepped foot in their retail store or made an online purchase since then. I stopped all catalogs and cancelled my VS card. I'm certain they have not missed my patronage but whoever is the head of sales training of their staff has no clue what they're doing. One pet peeve is the sales staff chit chatting and ignoring the customer. What you've described is the worst of the worst. They are there to serve you and make you feel good about your visit. Period. As someone who was a retail manager then a buyer for a well known retailer, if I had walked into a store and found a group of my staff "congregating" the sh** would have hit the fan. I'm sorry you had that experience. Unfortunately the cluelessly cruel sales staff has no ideal how toxic their actions are to their brand's business and its reputation.
I've had a similarly unethical, yet opposite issue at VS. I'm a 30DDD and for years they would put me in a 32DD even though the band (which is the main support for a bra) was very clearly too big. Sister sizes are BS, and the bras would never last long. Now I have a few Third Love bras and I'll NEVER go back. The fit is still perfect (with the normal strap and band tightening) nearly 2 years in. Well worth the investment, and I'm about to buy a few more.
Jee B they act like they own the company 😂
Jee B they don't realize, they are WORKING for a expensive store and the customer is BUYING from an expensive store. umm. Common sense....
Jee B so true!
They spend thousands of hours designing and making the clothes, they spend thousands of dollars making this videos, photo-shoots, runway shows so that at the end of the day the SALES PERSON can ruin your whole experience at the store.
Abbey Galle Yes and they don’t care. The mark up is such the brand does not need good service.
True 👍🏼
sooo true
Just thinking they don't spend thousands of dollars on sale person. Maybe they should and the service would be better🌷
I'm pregnant and slightly insane right now, if I had been with you, that sales associate would have been seriously reconsidering her life choices, by the time I was done with her.
WTF??!!!
this made me laugh so hard 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
this is my fave comment ever!made me laugh so muuuuch
😂🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼👌🏼
ayooo lmaaaooo
After she 'congratulated' you, I would have told her 'that's why you're the sales assistant and not the designer'.Boom.
Andrea Altgayer 🤣🤣🤣 I like it
That girl is extremely rude. After she said congratulations you manage to fit into 36 I would laugh and said yeah I didnt need you after all. Here 46 fits you better ! And walk away
👍
And also at the end say that she will always be a sales assistant and never become someone
@@blackbarbie6058 Found the chick who can't read.
@@gladitsnotme ahahahahahahahahahah
I've gone into shops for a handbag and employees have looked at the size of me. I'm tall. Really tall. Their clothes are not going to fit me. I am well aware their clothes won't fit. I know they're biting their tongue but want to tell me that I won't fit their clothes. It's enough to put me off and ditch plans. Keep your flipping handbag, I'm done with you.
What size are you? They make dresses in many sizes.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Designer store sales assistants are notoriously snotty. It kinda makes me scared to go in and look :(
I'm not entirely sure why, since Chanel and Versace SA's get paid 16/hr loll
fuck em!
ikr!! they act like they made the brand😂😂
I made dozens of 12-30k sales in that store, which Tiffany could have easily snapped up before I even got a chance, had they not judged a book by it's cover.
heyy13 what a lovely story. I hope you were on commission!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Tiffany (Vienna) had (or still does?) also a gay guy being incredibly rude. They sometimes act like they own the shop. ;)
it's really sad how people are still profiling the possible customers as if it were 80s and we lived in a "Pretty woman" movie.
The few times my husband got me some tiffany we walked with casual attire and the service was still great
she was just being petty, passive aggressive and jealous that you could afford a balmain blazer and she was just behind a counter. LOL , I'm glad you weren't hurt, this would have reduced someone to tears or worse triggered an eating disorder!!! If this had happened to me as a teen I would have simply stopped eating. sad but true.
ok so a balmain blazer goes for something like £1265 , thats her whole salary no?
If one rude comment from a random stranger causes you to starve yourself, then you need to develop a seriously thicker skin
+strawberry bubblepop you can't say that at all. One small comment stays in your head. It expands and everything anyone says seems like they're saying "YOUR FAT!" Right in your face. Don't say that. You don't know.
+strawberry bubblepop everyone's different and has been through different situations in life (:
strawberry bubblepop yes that's true , but don't you remember what it was like to be a teenager? I know lots of young ppl are very impressionable and a comment about their weight plus an already low self esteem can push you over the edge at a young age.
Imagine how much worse the service you received would have been if you actually were a size 18 UK.
Like me 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Like me 😓 but I remember being a 10-12 maybe to a 14 and getting some terrible customer service on sales associates saying things like “we don’t go above an L here” before I’ve even asked for a medium - or worse “we have some fragrance in the back that might be more suited to your needs” funnily enough I don’t have a sense of smell so the clothes would have done fine 🙄
OMG! I she’s fat, I’m a freaking hot air balloon. The nerve of some people.
You're clearly not able to mistake someone's size by that much, she was being passive aggressive....most likely jealous. I'd make a complaint to management.
Totally! It's a high end store, and the SAs represent the brand. Well, bad customer service gives the brand bad reputation. I would file a complaint.
agreed! i would write a letter of complaint as well. even if it doesn't end up changing anything, it feels good to just let them know!
+Hype Q What? I'm from Europe as well and she doesn't look a 46 at all!
buuuullshit. You're overweight if you're size 46, as it borders on plus size. This girl isn't overweight.
Hype Q No she's not. And how would you even know. You don't know her BMI. You have a messed up view of size. Are you ana or something?
I went into a newly opened "high end" gym with the intention of joining. When I spoke with the sales associate she looked me up and down then with a smug look she said that I would not fit in with the clientele that worked out in the facility. Without missing a beat I told her that I certainly "fit in" and that she was quite rude and that my medical colleagues will hear of this incident and would not be joining as well. I then asked to speak to management. Furthermore, I called the owners of the gym and relayed what transpired. The gym was apologetic and offered me 1 year free membership.
Good job!
please tell me this was equinox
@@thejasminelee no it was not.
right on!
Need this attitude in my life 👏
Do not play the basic sales woman game.
+Miss Management
Thank you! This is good advice! Hugs xx 😘
Oui?
lol so treat them like cats?
Makes me not want yo take a trip to Paris, l like my low self esteem a little less on the damaged side than a Parisian can make 😁
They work as a salesperson in a clothing store.
You go girl!
Caitlin O'Leary
Lol "gave her the finger" AND got her fired? Nice story, totally untrue, but entertaining
ღ ღ she didn't say she got her fired though but that she had already been fired
Girl if you would have come to where I work I would have treated you like a princess to make sure I get my commission 😂.
Well said!
Do you really think they (the company) care?
@@floraflowers is that friend Asian lol
Something goes wrong in society when a surgeon can afford 6 vintage Ferarri's and leather 40.000$ bags... It is abhorrent.
@@AndreUtrecht completely agree.
She didn't think you were fat. She wanted to make you feel shit
Kahutoi
I agree. My opinion is that rude SAs, such as the individual mentioned in the video, have a baseline narcissistic, teetering on manipulative, sociopathic personality. It allows the SAs to feel better about themselves. 🤷♀️
She was probably trying to make a point about Sophie's chest.
It's beyond nasty. It shows how inadequate they are as people.
you were so nice to them, i would have lost my shit completely!!!
YES!
Same!
Oh man, same. I wouldn't leave the store unless I talked to her manager.
right!
Me too
I find women who work in designer shops are extremely stuck up.
That's an amazing come back! What did they say?!
Lol, good on you
Leeann Tierney Yeah, of course not all of them but there definitely is those people, I went to a Paul Smith outlet not that long ago and I bought a t shirt, I spent pretty much all of my money the previous day but I really liked the shirt and I managed to pull just enough change out of my wallet to buy it, the male sales assistant who found the size and specific shirt I wanted for me was very friendly and helpful, the woman at the till gave off such a rude vibe because I basically just had enough money to pay for the item, if you're buying something from their store I don't understand why they need to be a snob about it if you're not as rich as most of the other customers, wether you're somebody who could afford the same item with a days pay or weeks/months pay, they should be happy you're spending your money there and giving you a good experience to make you want to do it again.
right!! i'd say "lose the attitude, you work here, you don't own the place."
OMG that just made my day!
That's absolutely classic lolol
Ashley Willock-Dixon r/thattotallyhappened and everyone clapped
Your grandfather was a G! Lol kudos! Treat others how you want to be treated! Kindness goes a long ways.
And then everyone clapped!!!!! Albert Einstein was there too!!!!!!
+Kate Bahaha! Exactly girl!
I was thinking the exact same thing!!
Love this story haha
Yess that usually how I go in to my LV store comfy is my name That's what that SA gets but that happened to me at Chanel some SAs are dumb and yes bitter
Read the story about the Indian Prince and Rolls Royce if you haven't :) i think every sales associate should know it by heart :)
+Val *should learn
you should have done a Julia Roberts from pretty woman... "big mistake ! huge"!
I was told by a Vivienne Westwood sales assistant a few years ago that " Vivienne Westwood doesn't design for fat people " to my face ...... I just walk away
OMG 😧
Make a complaint and have that twig fired
Or get some money out of that, either way its a win win
Not only is that rude, but so not true...
+epifanny thats somehow true, sadly, designers intentionally make their sizes small and true to size, if u compare a size 8 in top shop its bigger than a size 8 in louis vuitton, they just work this way.....
Are those 2k dislikes Balmain employees?
Maybe they are super skinny girls who are being treated politely just because they "fit" in accepted figures!
@Jacqueline Filo Lol but Balmain sales associates salary is around $3k-$4k/month + bonus, they definitely can afford to buy whatever they want
Maybe not Balmain but other brand sales associates with same attitude
@Luci K agree!
Most gay person i know are like that
Cowards
I would have have said to the SA, "Shut up and go get me a 38, I'm older and have better insurance than you do. Run along quickly.." 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Those are specially designed for them
i agree if only we could all have fitted clothes
Amazing how much difference it can make! One of the great rich people secrets!!
Yes, that is what I said. Must be wonderful!!!
HAAA xD its Kardashians* haaa
It kind of sounds to me like they actually did know your size, but wanted to trick you into buying a much bigger blazer so that you would end up having to spend even more money for them to alter it for you.
And yeah, on top of that they probably were just snobby and jealous that you could afford a Balmain blazer and that you're thin.
i actually thought the same
Maybe that jacket size 38 was being hidden for another customer too. My first thought it might be for her (the bitch salesperson) or was hiding it for someone else. It was s big difference in sizing from 38 to 48. She’s nuts.
The bigger sizes often cost more too. Not just for alteration.

I was thinking Pretty Women moment through the entire video.

Anna Falls Lou or pants ugh
Hell yes sista! Hahaha like I'm going to buy my first chanel double flap bag in trackies and a hoodie, just to f*ck with them.
I went into Chanel once, was dressed like a tramp, they treated me very nicely lol.
if they think ur fat i can only imagine what they think of me
fefe fierce She had me til she kept saying "massive " and acting disgusted by the idea.
username So what? If shes drowning in those it’s obvious It’s fuckin massive for her!!
username an 18 IS massive for someone who is 8/10 normally.
Go to hell.....never give a damn about what "they" say. Never ever. Like seriously. Don't.
It sounds like an upselling scam. How much was the tailoring going to cost???
That's what I'm thinking too
Tailoring is usually free for designers brands when buying the item or 3 months later
Yes.. but if the blazer is 6 sizes too big then tayloring will not really work unless they can redesign the *whole* jacket.
I am so sorry this happened to you Salma :(
I must confess that most of my experiences have been good, but this was one of the (few) bad experiences!
Glad you got your perfume, AND store discount plus apology! The least they could have done!!!
Hugs xx
Wow how are people so rude😐 they need to remember they are only a sales assistant and not forget their roles
Salma k+ b*tch well deserved it.. If it was me I would've created a whole big mess, get her fired and then go to HR DEPT get her more even ...
WHAT? That woman is atrocious! She shouldn't have a job if she's going to behave like that.
You go girl!!
I request a size; then if challenged in a way that is rude & doesn’t make sense, I say “I requested a size, not advice.”
Omg I love you 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I had this at a Chanel counter. I was wanting to buy my normal products, and the girl actually looked me up and down and said that I couldn't afford it. So I smiled and went to the Sisley counter next door, even though they're triple the price, and bought from them instead.
Ella Vella omg that is horrible. I went to the Chanel counter in very casual clothes, I was very embarrassed but the lady at the counter told me all about the perfume I wanted to purchase!! No judgment from her whatsoever :)
Bull shit Chanel wouldn't say that
i had a nurse tell me i had to lose weight because of my astma, all fine, but she added:'and your boyfriend will like it better if you are thinner'
i am stil like: WTF!!!

I just cannot believe some people - that's totally out of order!
You had to tell her: Your boyfriend likes it better already
Not to defend her or hate on you or anything, but She still said the truth that no one will ever say to your face
Get out. "
If I was there:
Sales: Congratulations, you’re smaller than I thought!

Lol 😂 🙌🏻 brilliant
Your response was SO perfect, oh man! Well done, well done.
Jesus..I'd be livid.
I think it's rather indicative of the fashion house's attitude if staff can honestly say and think things like this and get away with it.
I'm a manager in retail and a huge advocate of customer service, Jesus Christ!! How on earth is such a person employed there?
lots of sales assistance do my bloody nut in. think they are so prestige like their dad owns YSL. hate unkind and annoying people
Sounds like

not all are bad ! okay. im good and help and du what they say to me !
+Maja GirlPoWER that's nice. I clearly didn't say "all assistance" though :/
hafff it okay :D I graduated sales assistant, I have 4 years of education as sales assistant, and i love people and I always hear what customers are saying and give my own opinion to colors but i never never says to the customer you are using this size it is not okay to say :D
Oh. My. Gosh! That's horrible. Ugh, I cannot believe the way some people act. What an awful woman.
When I give a customer a size that's too big for her or him I apologise for judging poorly, not bloody congratulate them ( unless they were dieting and working out to get into that certain size and they told me sure.)
You should have called customer service.
Maybe she was trying to sell the alteration service or get rid of the bigger sizes. In any case, it's pretty awkward and not in her interest to make customers unhappy
that's a really smart point!
well they should ship it to kim Kardashian then
***** haha!
+michelle tian yeah they should 😂
Wow, I work at a designer consignment shop and I treat my customers like gold. That is truly horrible. So sorry this happened to you.
themori3 and I’m sure you get a lot more sales than snobby-but-can’t-back-it bitches
This is why I love my consignment stores. Often so much less snobbery!
I don't mean to sound snooty or stuck up, but she's a freaking sales assistant. What's she so proud about?
patti8178 :That’s what I was thinking. The sales bitch acts like she owns the damn store.
exactly !!!!!!!
I absolutely loathe any sales lady from a higher end clothing brand. They always give me dirty looks when I walk in because I'm not one of their old, wrinkled, overly perfumed customers.
And it's funny cause they act like they're hot shit when 9 times out of 10 they're not even getting paid enough to afford anything in the store
Absolutely! Such misplaced attitudes
+theamethyst93 loved your comment. I've always thought the same.
true and they often look at me like I can't afford it just because Im wearing comfortable clothes for these few hours of shopping (because I rarely shop).
+Sahrish Rawra Good point! Xx
Kim gets it personally made for her.
she's 5'3 tall, that's it's petite. I think you just hating.
Daniel Salvador I am not talking about her height, I am talking about the composition of her body weight. Megan Fox is also 5ft 3, she is more petite and definitely not the same size as Kim K. Not hating, just pointing out the obvious :)
+TheMarmite09 I understand now.
Kim probably stays away from stores with people like that. That's why she gets her clothes from Balmain tailored lmao
it makes me laugh how all these sale assistants got the job when they have terrible customer service over people that do have great customer service skills...its such a joke!
I know right! What ever happened to respect!? People need to stop being so damn rude and judgy all the time. At the end of the day looks don't really matter that much anyways. Mainly just health and happiness
Whitney Saunders Exactly! 💜
***** I love your attitude, girl! I am confident when I go into stores too, I know what I want and I am going to get it no matter what anyone says :)
You must have stolen her husband in another life. I don't think size was the issue at all. Jealousy sounds more like it.
I'm a size 8 in Canada and the US btw.
RACIST
"An undertone of sarcasm was running through her manner" this is just quote gold!
"MAIN" in french means HAND - SO THESE CHICKS WOULD HAVE GOTTEN A BAL-MAIN IN THE FACE. You are SO PATIENT for staying in the store!!
😂😂
LMAO
If you're "fat" to them, I must be obese.
I fucking shamoo, they'd chase me with a damn fishing net and spear! Totally ridiculous that we live in a world where someone who looks like this is body shamed and called fat!
RobinOrzo
Rebecca H I'm Morbidity obese then
Me too. Compared to her I'm an obese whale.
rilla Rilla same
I managed a lingerie boutique in Dallas, TX.
I love your videos, you are a great youtuber!
it really sounds like she was on some kind of drugs! seriously!
It was Christmas, tis the time to be jolly and nice and not judgemental.
yeah you either are to young, to fat or looking to poor to them haha
probably
Crazyy ! People can be so rude and judgmental.
+brookelle bailey #lolyousaidniggasoireportedyou #byefelicia
+Bárbara Rivera I can't remember what I said now it was so long ago but I wish I had said that! Lol
+brookelle bailey Lol stop being a hater ass!
UK size 6 I believe xx
+brookelle bailey Why? Do you want to be meeting him instead?
I guess that sales associate never saw the movie “pretty woman.” 😂😂
lol maybe you look like the woman who stole her man 😂😂😂
ha good one
Lmfao ! PERHAPS !
+Hype Q um... but she isn't. Anyone with open eyes can clearly see that.
However, even if she was overweight that doesn't allow the saleswoman to behave the way she did.
lexi jenny I
That isn't an excuse.
love how down to earth you are about this!
Behavior like that is unacceptable, it's unbelievable!
not a good idea legally lol
+Sara Kang how is that not a good idea? lmao whats the lady gonna do?
Why would a sales fashion company assistant call someone fat? Don't they realize that their turning away money?
I once walked into a shop in the mall with my very thin friend and the sales associate greeted her. It ignored me. After she got my friend what she wanted she looked T me and said" are you looking for a gift for someone?" My friend heard this - and we walked out without her purchase. Can you believe it? It was awful and ruined what was supposed to be a fun day shopping with my bff. Btw- I'm not heavy, or over large.
That's terrible Tamy. You look like quite a nice person and very pretty from your picture :)
"You only work in a shop you know, you can drop the attitude." Eddie Monsoon
How perfectly succinct. 😂
If there was a ever a moment for that particular ABFAB quote it is now. Love it
I've used this before.
reminds me of the pretty woman scene in the Beverly hills store where they look down on her for how she's dressed. No need for their actions or words. When I walk into stores like River Island or Hollister to buy accessories I get looked at and sniggered at even though I'm not buying clothes. I'm a size 22 UK and its horrid the way some assistants make snide comments and look at you all dodgy.
I was thinking about that scene from Pretty Woman too!
I Judy saw pretty woman first Time in my Life today and love it
I don't even bother going into shops like Hollister or TopShop - even to buy accessories. Why should I give a brand my money for their accessories if they don't want my money for their clothing?
The fact that Balmain employees treat people like this is so disgusting and they need to get CHECKED.
Emanuel Jenner I
I thought the title said, "Batman Told Me I'm Fat."
imafreakingmuffin lol
I'm peeing myself 😂
OMG :-D :-D made my day
Comment of the day, for sure!
I’m using subtitles and they replace it with Batman 😂 I’ve been very confused
You're frigging gorgeous and have a figure many would envy, if anything she must've been jealous!
exactly why did you not ask to speak to her manager? get them fucking fired.
+cgyli If I was there with a friend or my husband, I probably would have done. I was not prepared for what happened and just wanted to leave. It's for sure one of those situations where you are so shocked at the time you do nothing, then days later the anger sets in! 😡😡😤xx
u can always call the manager and explain what happened
I get what you mean. If I was too shocked to call the manager, I'd have called in the same location to speak to the manager at a later time, and report the associates name. That is NOT how you speak to a customer, and I'd be damned to be an enabler to someone who acts obnoxious just because they spend their day selling overpriced clothing.
+Sophie Shohet | Fashion Beauty Lifestyle i used go be like that, nowadays i give them a piece of my mind on the spot! Not worth me getting angry over such things later on when you can just handle it right away
You should have quoted Ab Fab! "You only work in a shop you know, you can drop the attitude..."
+JayyRod Not in my country they don't.
I totally agreed with what your saying.
So horrible
OMG! If thats you in the profile pic, they must have been blind or very jealous!! Its still a disgusting thing to say to anyone.
oh my word! that is horrendous!
What. The. Fuck. How do they hire people like this???? I'm sorry that happened to you. You're gorgeous by the way!
This feels very typical for expensive stores. If you don't look like a millionaire they will try to make you leave instead of actually helping you. As soon as you walk in to those stores and you're not dressed from top to toe with expensive clothes, they WILL judge you - unfortunately. Maybe because they feel like you will not buy anything or are afraid that you might scare away the rich customers hahaha
My dad and I were in Milan and we were looking for stuff to buy in those expensive shops, we're Bulgarian so we talked in Bulgarian to each other.
I purchased the M and it's in my closet with the price tag for 8 years now hahaha.
lmao
LOLOLOL! That's the best story I've heard today.
omg you're the best
I'd rather pay 60€ than accepting that I was ...fat
Lmao! Great story. 😂
I just have always liked the design of this particular blazer! xx
Haha.. I'd just assumed she was French x)
I had something even worse than that, I went to buy a party dress and I was literally kicked out of the store because I was too fat... Like the women literally opened the door and is like "We don't have your size bye."
In your case you are not fat but in my case it was terribly uncomfortable and embarassing xD
+Salma Karim (살마) OMG 😧 that's terrible! Xx
+Sophie Shohet | Fashion Beauty Lifestyle why do you keep ignoring when people ask you which store this happened in? It clearly didn't happen in the flagship Mayfair boutique because they don't have curtains in their fitting rooms and have only been open for a year so the person couldn't have worked there for "years".
that is soo harsh and rude
+Alonica Abad I don't see how it's harsh or rude. Many people have asked to know which store this happened in. It's not the flagship store which means it's a department store and therefore not Balmain.
+Jed Antony I think they meant what happened to the other girl
I‘ve come back to this video because THIS happened to me last week at Burberry in Austria. I am a size Uk size 10. At Burberry I wanted to try a wool coat and the sales woman was like „let me look for your size“ .. she handed me a size 16. I was like „NO I need a size 10“.. (I own several Burberry coats and they are all size 10)
She looked me up and down and said „ no size 16 fits ..
HAHAAHAHAH SOMETHING I WOULD DO #PETTYTEAM🙌😂
Good on you, I know that there must be some nice people but most people in there are so rude. The only time they show interest is when they are getting something out of you, money.
AWESOME! They need this! Hats off to you!
LGBTI people are often the best at this probably because they encounter
harsh unnecessary comments on a regular basis. Primed for it.
Which is a harsh comment on our society.
Balmain should mail you a blazer free of charge!!!! I can't believe this!!!!!!!
Yes I am in vote of this ... Stupid women - you should of got her name Sophie ... We are all on to her ! Lol
