    Thank you both so very much for this review. I’ve had my Sportage for 5 months now and I keep learning new things all the time. I didn’t know I could roll down the windows from the remote. I didn’t know voice command can control the temperature until last week. And yesterday I learned that voice command can also open the lift gate. I’m highly amazed with my car. Your video today taught me about the self drive feature. I thought it was something dealing with cruise control. One of my favorite features is that the car will kinda force you back in your lane if you drift, or lane change without signal. Kia, has done an amazing job styling this car.

      I agree with you. I love watching this RUclips channel. From these lovely people I have learned so much about my car. Things the dealer couldn’t even answer. My lane follow assist was a bit questionable at first. It was like I was driving on a balancing beam. I now know that it’s because the lane keep assist was on also. So I set the keep to warning only. Now the car seems like it’s following the cars in front of me without the wobbly stuff. Lol😂 oh and a feature that my 10 year old daughter loves is the voice recognition to open the tailgate. I swear she’s going to break the darn thing. When I come home I have to let her tell the car to open the trunk or I will not be able to go in the house with her crying. LOL!! I love that feature because I always have a million other things to grab before I get out and a lot of the times my husband is looking at me to hurry up. One thing I wish Kia would change is the side cameras. In my sister telluride her cameras are perfect. You can see in night and day. Mine will show good in the day but at night the view is choppy. It’s not clear and bright. I’ve tried to see if I could change how the camera is viewed, like the backup but I didn’t have any luck there. Aside from that I absolutely love the 2023-2024 Sportage.

    Please, please note that the system is NEVER hands free. Kia is very explicit about this. Can you remove your hands, sure. Should you? No. When it looses the lanes or you encounter a turn that is too banked, etc. it will just disengage. No warning. Not even a beep. It is an assist. Nothing more. It does work very well. Same with the traffic jam assist. I am impressed with mine. Didn’t want this but it was standard on the sx-prestige HEV. Now I’m glad I have it.

    I’ve used both features on my X-Pro as long as it can read the lanes, it works and on curves too. Definitely a plus. Still stay aware and focus.

      @@Polina-K I love it, the lane centering is best used when you’re just letting the car move down the road, some moderate curves only. Because when you’re actually steering it’ll keep trying to correct the vehicle in center of the lane, and when you’re actually steering the vehicle you’ll drift as normal driving occurs and that can be annoying.

    You can also start/stop lane keeping assist from pushing and holding the wheel key. Even if by short push starts/stops the lane follow assist. So the button has 4 functions depending on how long you push it. I have an XCeed and I read the manual :)

    Thanks for showcasing the difference between LKA and LFA!
    Question: When using smart cruise control, do you notice that when the car comes to a complete stop behind the lead car, that the KIA stops too closely to the car in front?
    We have tried many different adaptive cruise systems and KIA has one of the best, but when the car comes to a stop behind the lead vehicle, it stops too close to the car in front. I wish KIA has an option to set a further stopped distance with the lead car... not just when in motion. Thanks!

    • @Polina-K
      @Polina-K  10 месяцев назад +2

      Thanks for the support! I also feel that it comes to a more abrupt stop behind stationary cars. It can definitely be jarring, especially if you leave your foot off the brake! I have learned to trust it, but it could definitely use an upgrade and smoother stopping control. To answer your questions, I don’t know a setting to make it stop further back. I assumed it would stop further back if you set your smart cruise control to the maximum distance, but as you said that usually correlates to when in motion.

  • @mikefanchin
    @mikefanchin 2 месяца назад

    I notice most manufacures force YOU to decide which of lhe individual assist features you want to use and when. In many cases you only use features on premapped roads. Lane Assist, park assist, traffic jam assist... Tesla is so much easier. It just works virtually everywhere under virtually all conditions.

    Does it let you keep your hands off the wheel, or does it ask you to put your hands back on the wheel no matter which feature your using. ( also what does it do if you don't put your hands back on the wheel after being prompted?) Thanks

    • @Polina-K
      @Polina-K  11 месяцев назад

      It will ask you to put your hands back on the wheel in both modes. In LFA though, you can drive for several minutes without it asking as long as you’re going straight. We’ll make a new video demonstrating that soon😄

    • @rcairflr

      On the Kia sportage it takes very little pressure on the wheel to keep it from alerting. I really like this system and use it all the time. On a long trip, the vehicle will take most cures by itself. Makes driving long distance less stressful.

    I had to drive 350 miles this week. There was a lot of highway construction that forced me into shoulder area. What happens if you use follow assist? Does it recognize lanes discrepancies?

    • @Polina-K
      @Polina-K  Год назад +3

      Most of the time lane follow assist will turn off when there are lane discrepancies. Sometimes LFA will stay on when smart cruise control tracks the car in front of you and follows them. This is kind of similar to how LFA will stay on course when you pass through an intersection (no lanes, but it follows the car in front of you with smart cruise control). As a rule of thumb, whenever there’s construction we always keep our hands on the wheel:)
