The house was open on the ground floor level as a very up market cafe and a posher bit for more refined dining. It was all comfy sofas and chairs and Dog friendly. The garden was very lovely too. It gotta taken over by someone who made it even posher and not dog friendly but they were allowed in the garden. It didn't last long under the new ownership, about a couple of years I think. And now it is completely closed even before the pandemic. Such a shame. I wonder if it will be open in the future. I really hope so
Well that was interesting!🤔🤣😂🤣 So much...1st, beautiful Manor House & Church. Loved the steeple/spire. Julia & her happy dance at the site of the yew tree😄 - so cute, so joyful! But then she got spooked😱 at the Donkey Weald & I was like what the what?!?!😒😅 I liked how you told her that she was freaking you & your audience out!😅 However, I know there have been place I've been that you seem to just sense that something is off about it & I couldn't wait to leave!😬 Anyway...it all gave me a good laugh!😆💜
Another great walk - I’ve heard of Stamner but have never been! You can tell I’m a planner; first thing I noticed was that the house has been extended to one side! The stone Work is lighter and it’s no longer symmetrical!
It was even lovelier in the village itself, before foot and mouth took the cattle away...they used to live in stockyards up and down the village high street...it's still a not unattractive village...we've friends who live there, and one of the sons has the Falmer Swan... There used to be a rather curious Stanmer village museum too...might not be still there though...
I can't believe you didn't film the actual village while you were there. Just steps away from the church. It is very pretty and has a small tea room with outside seating. Maybe it was too busy at the time you were filming.
Be careful on hot days, Yew trees release a gas called taxine that has the ability to cause hallucinations and turn your hair purple. lol. That's why the pagan Druids etc. thought they had magical powers.
My daughter and I both got £100 fine for parking on the grass . It's a shame that they have put these restrictions there and even worse that there is no adequate signage. We are contesting this. Stanmer is beautiful and we always go for lunch in the cafe when we walk our dogs there, but this has been spoilt by this outrageous parking rule.
The place where the very first episode of Mr. bean was filmed.
Thank you Richard and Julia for another great video
Thanks Ann.

Yes, it was busy.
That place use to have it own black smith forge many years ago.
Did it, indeed? Very cool. (or hot, as forges tended to be, of course!)
@@RichardVobes it a shame another black smith forge couldn't be set up as a live museum showing shoeing of horses and cart wheel repairs.

Humphrey who? I bet he suffered at school LOL:-)
Ha! Ha! Yes I remember that advert, but it was his surname I was referring to. I am sure it sounded like Rectum to me LOL :-)
Ah! my mistake, but bet he still suffered, as it does sound like Rectum LOL :-)
Be very careful were you park you think it's ok to park and when you get back the nice man has put a parking ticket on your car.
Had that happened to you? Thanks for the warning!
