- Here we are, finally at the episode that sets up the craziness that is Miraculous. Well, at least the first part. As you all should be extremely aware, I love to complain about Miraculous. I mean there's SO MUCH to whine about that it's almost an ambition to cover it all (I literally go on a rant about the etiquette of eating cereal for 5 minutes in this video). But you can't help but watch episodes like these and remember why you got into the show in the first place. Definitely one of the best of the season. So here's my ramblings on it. Enjoy.

The film did a much better job of portraying the origin story. And, Marinette looks nervous and scared when she transforms into Ladybug, meanwhile Adrien looks like he’s being prepared for being Cat Noir is whole life.
Yes. That is true.
But the movie doesn’t show anything about adrien at all, just him finding a black cat then suddenly cat noir exists
Adrien being prepared to be a superhero is a mood. If only he had gotten that respect. But unfortunately later seasons treated him very badly.
The movie did what 5 whole seasons couldn't!

I love how immediately Adrien gets into it. Like fully dramatic transformation at the ready. I swear my sister was one of the people that were in denial about Gabriel, even after Simon Says and this one were aired she still refused to see it. It took until the Collector and I was so smug about it. Bustier is honestly kinda trash as a teacher and Damocles just straight up sucks as a Principal
Probably due to the miraculous granting him freedom from his life as Adrien Agreste
@@samuelcaloracanAdrien is like the Snow White of Miraculous. He is really sheltered for most of his life by his father and never have a chance to stay connecting with other pepole including his friends.

@@moon66487 Yes. But Rapunzel was stolen however in Andrien's chase he lived with his father for his enter life and like Snow White doesn't have a mother. That's way the comperison was brought up.

I always hated that bustier was portrayed as this perfect teacher when it clearly showed that she wasn’t for letting Ivan and Marinette get bullied infront of her and call the victims out for fighting back
Use a different teacher if you’re gonna do that
The origins in the film were MUCH better. And since costumes reflect your desires, I hoped their costumes would get more detailed with time.

@@njivwathomassilavwe2056 CW had a superior look, imo; black cat suits are usually so basic, so I lpved the upgrade. LB's new looks weren't permanent, though.
I'm gonna disagree only because we never saw Adrien's and Plagg's first interaction
@@phylesenavidad5714 I mainly meant the fact that Plagg and Tikki sought Adrien and Marinette out rather than Master Fu giving them the most powerful miraculous based on one interaction with them.
Honestly, every dynamic where Ladybug and Cat Noir or Marinette and Adrien don't know eachother/forgotten who the other is, is actually just my favourite dynamics. Like- I remember watching Oblivio and thinking "WHY CAN'T THEY BE LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME IT'S SO MUCH CUTER"
I agree why not have fun with them not really knowing each other? I think LadyNoir could have been more entertaining if they portrayed it like they both like each other but don’t really know who the other person is, instead of just Cat Noir likes Ladybug and she doesn’t like him that way at all. Kind of a missed opportunity if you ask me.

@@MissJJoan is weird because on the first season, there was chemistry between them two, but all that got thrown in the trash after season 2.
Another thing is, the series invests lots of time saying they can't be together because of shadow moth or whatever, but the we see they carry the entire thing in season 5 smoothly. Another thing is the amount of unnecessary episodes that add nothing, like Chat Blanc, Oblivio, Simple man etc. They wasted time to give actual development, and the compounded everything on the last season. Season 5 was forced, filled with "the message" being pushed under your throat, with plot inconsistencies, anticlimactic and with characters totally deconstructed. Chat Noir now has to be soft men, because being cocky and saasy is "misogynistic". He can't be in the picture at the end because same reason. Oh, that Gabriel has an opportunity to change everything, and therefore, as a creator, take the chance to bulldoze the past 3 atrocious seasons? Nah, let him keep searching the miraculous.
Explanation of how the restoration of reality works? For what.
I was despointed. Marinette, sadly to say, is a "strong female character" or at least for the most part. The emotional pay offs 0, the consequences of the past affecting her now 0.

Thank you, I had no clue what was going on either. We don’t have something like that in the US.
Something that i've grown to dislike over the years in this episode is how Fu chose the Miraculous and their wielders.
-So you know that the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous are the most powerful ones and probably what your enemy is after due to having Nooroo by them, so you decided to put both of them in public? Why not give other Miraculous that we know can be better used, like the Snake Miraculous? And if the answer is 'Oh but you need the Ladybug to fix all the damage', first of all that seems like a Deus Ex Machina, and secondly, then you can still give the Ladybug but choose another one. That way, you have a failsafe if the heroes fail. I mean the Tiger Miraculous is basically a lesser version of the Cat.
-So your process to choose a wielder is if they do a good deed? Without any further investigations? Like I wouldn't mind if after Fu thinks Marinette and Adrien would be good wielders would follow them around a bit to see if they are truly worthy, but after one interaction you just decide to give a child one of the most powerful tools in the universe?
I mean considering what Marinette did in the season 5 finale. She definitely was a bad choice for the ladybug miraculous.

tikki and plagg had their true forms shown in the finale, so all kwamis probably have a true form

Oh! And at 4:25, she’s actually not having cereal! Apparently in France they mix cocoa powder with milk and dip their croissants in it! So no milk-before-cereal psych shenanigans here lol
6:45 it’s my personal head cannon that Chloe got her dad to enroll Adrien, but that doesn’t really have much basis in canon lol
Back before Marinette became a creepy stalker. The good old days. Wish we could turn back to them.
Well there was her stealing Adrien's phone which was something I could get pass but then season 3 came and absolutely ruined her character - literally had her break into Adrien's house.

I love how the film portrays and explains the Miraculous, not so much that the Butterfly is evil at base, but more the power dynamics between the ladybug and black cat. They seem way more balanced in the film, and that’s nice to see because the main duo were marketed as being a team of equals. I’m sick of seeing the main girl being the only one who really matters in the end. Give my that complementary opposition. The opposites that almost perfectly balance each other out. It’s awesome.
Though, I was a bit salty about Adrien not being as featured when he was meeting his kwami I still have hope they’re planning to flesh out his hero persona and motivations in the second movie. They teased the peacock at the end of the first and I’m sure Jeremy Zag has his own take on that whole sentibeing/monster situation.

This was the only time I liked Marinette. But Jeremy Zag did the origin a bit better. It’s just a shame the movie was too short.
And that Plagg was done horribly in that film.

To be fair, i didnt thought gabriel was hawkmoth because that would be so obvious that there would be no reason to hide, should've taken that as a sign of this shows writing choices

The way it was so obvious hawk moth was Gabe, even more so when they showed his siluette in this episode, the season ended, and then like two years the very first episode was a reveal to the audience that *gasp* it's actually Gabe

The breakfast of a bowl of chocolate powder mixed with milk and then dipping in bread is an actual thing.
It used to be served at the university digs and small hotels I used to stay at in southern France.
In defense of the ppl that didn't know Gabe was Hawkmoth, English is literally the ONLY language where those two characters have the same VA. In every other language they're two different people. In the Dutch version they even have different accents (Hawkmoth Netherlands Dutch, Gabriel Belgian Dutch) so it was a bit harder to guess there 😅
in the swedish version they are voiced by the same english is not the only language where gabe and hawkmoth has the same voice actor

in czech he has slighty diferent voice. It was harder to guess too.

I remember back in the day one of the main arguments against Gabe being Hawk Moth was his face shape. Which I still appreciate holds up to some degree. It’s all really funny in hindsight

I like the fact that when marinette transforms, she stills as klutzy as normal since the miraculous heightens the user natural capabilities. Sad that for the rest if the show they show her being extremely capable and nimble in her hero form but still a klutz in civilisn form and somehow besting oeople who have a lot more training than her
The origins in the film is definitely a lot better than the show, but the show one was also still good. I really love this show
Milk first, microwave the bowl so it's hot and then put cereal so it isn't all soggy and still crisp while you eat it. Other ways are heresy
I do cereal first than milk than microwave fir 30 seconds. Them cinimon toast crunches are amazing

4:54 the stuff she's putting in her milk isn't cereal but it is chocolate milk powder, it's a French thing. As a kid I used to spend a week every summer living with families in France and most of them did this a lot; making chocolate milk in a bowl and drinking it for breakfast.

marinette wasn't having a bowl of cereal for breakfast but its actually powdered chocolate that makes a kind of thick chocolate milk??porridge thing??? people tend to eat it with bread, its like nesquick pretty much. Popular breakfast in some european countries, so the milk before powder thing makes a bit more sense maybe?? though me and every friend i've asked do actually put the powder in first so maybe shes still just a freak💀

My guess is that the writers assumed the with rockhearts fingers and the fact things created by the miraculous are somewhat indestructible. That it would work.

Ahhh yes the best part of what happens if you don’t get the butterfly.
I just realized. When Fu was recruiting and Adrien stepped in to help despite it ruining his chance to go to school that day, what would have happened if Natelie had left Gorilla to handle Adrien and helped Fu herself? Would he have given her the Black Cat Miraculous and utterly screwed himself over by revealing he had the miraculous the whole time? Because we know that even in season 1, Natelie is on board and helping Gabe to find the miraculous. And in that scene, had it been Natelie that helped him, he would’ve just handed one of the most powerful miraculous, one of the two the Hawk Moth needs, to his flipping ASSISTANT!😂 And considering he just chose Marinette because she saved him from traffic and didn’t sass him for being in the street during a “no walk” period, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that he would give the Cat Noir ring to Natelie. Unless that nearly 200 man was intentionally creeping on minors.
I think my favourite miraculous are the ladybug the cat the butterfly the peacock the snake and the bunny
Fun fact: the English subtitles for this episode show it as Gabriel speaking when we see him in the dark room with no clue who he is.
The first time I watched miraculous my dad was with me and the minute hawkmoth showed up my dad said hey it's that blonde guy's father right? And I said yeah and that was pretty much the end of discourse 😂

To be fair, Max and Nino have the same voice actor. They could've pulled a twin brother bit like we found out about Emilie having a twin sister. But they didn't.

I know this is never going to happen, but come on, give Cat Noir some power boosts.
I used to do milk first before cereal because one time when I poured milk into the bowl, the milk bounced off of the cereal and spilled out. I wasn't pouring too fast or too much at once, either. But it was mostly only that one time. Nowadays I pour the cereal into the bowl first. It's just easier when you can see how much cereal you have in your bowl before the milk covers it up. But if you don't care about potentially eating too much cereal at once, it really doesn't matter which you decide to pour first.
Most teachers suck. I'm glad I don't have to deal with them anymore.

OK, I wanted to say this my mom pour milk before the cereal because if not, it’s too hard for her to eat and when she puts the milk first that allows it to get more soggy she usually does it with Cracklin brand

4:15 I've watched this episode so many times and I still can't tell what Marinette is trying to make for breakfast here. What the hell is that?? Cuz from what I see, she just poured in milk and coca powder into a bowl??? I sthis a french thing or something? I guess she wants to make chocolate cereal, but it doesn't look like cereal, it looks like powder. Is she tryimg to make chocolate milk?
