The Rest of The Miraculous Comics Made Me Lose My Mind

- Miraculous on top of being a very successful television show has a wide array of media, which I am recently discovering. Which has then led me to the horrific realisation that whatever I had to critique about the actual show was no where near as heinous as what I have discovered amongst these dusty relics. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go wash out my eyes and hopefully forget everything I've read. Enjoy.

Definitely feels like they could've used the opportunity to make the comics improve on the source material like the movie did.

Another thing that annoyed me about these comics was the fact that they decided to include the origin of Kwamis in these comics rather than in an episode. Not everyone knows about the existence of these comics! And yet, they decided to include the story of the Kwamis origin in an obscure comic rather than the show which EVERY Miraculous fan watches 😑

My brain melted when I discovered the origin of the Kwamis. It’s insane and I don’t think it vibes with the show all that much, I thought they were beings created from the Miraculous from that old wizard guy who made em 😅
The writers always gave me pervy vibes since 2016 where queen bee was revealed and the voice actress of tikki asked the producer that queen be is sexy but then the producer said to the fans not to worry cause shes not as sexy as marinette/ ladybug ☠

I think the comment about Ladybug not being able to fit the thing in her mouth or the "they're so French" lines wouldn't be as big of an issue if they didn't have the scene of Marinette naked in New York, the added racial stereotyping not helping. Cartoons have "sus" moments in them all the time, but combined with the New York scene and that odd producer/actor panel you mentioned, they feel more uncomfortable, especially with how on-the-nose these things are. It also doesn't help that the creator is an awful writer that seemingly uses Chloe to vent about his high school bully hang-ups that he should've gotten over by now.
On a different note, am I the only one that found the love zombie episode weird? Of all the ways to control people, why do it via kisses? I know Poison Ivy does the same thing, but she's supposed to be a femme fatale, and she also does it via dust, not just kissing. She also doesn't kiss children like that as far as I know. Why'd they write it like that?
@@flarestorm9417 Like I said if the cast called 14 years olds girl sexy so I don't really get surprised by the stuff they put in the show like it's so weird cause it was said at a comic con as well like the fans didn't know it at the time but the producers and voice actors had to know 😶
considering that one of the screenwriters for the show drew NSFW art of marinette + adrien when the show first came out, i'm not surprised. just disappointed.

Interestingly enough, a writer for Miraculous found out about these and quit back in 2019 due to not wanting to associate with the mess that was Miraculous. I probably would've done the same.
Geez, and I thought the TV Show was bad but the comics are apparently worse. It's a good thing I didn't know these comics existed.
Maybe as a palette cleanser you could take a peek over at the Manga. Yeah it's basically retreading the first few episodes, but I think the changes made are pretty fun.
Ha! What pallette cleanser can be found in Miraculous!? Creator can't take criticism, storylines are ruined beyond repair, characters are messed up to the creators' own liking, and watching this show while high or dunk, or preferably both, is much better watching experience than when done sober.

Yeaahhh...These comics are really on the lowest of standards. If the art was from a 12-14 year old posting their art on their deviantart page I would be A-Ok. In no Parallel universe can i EVER see myself buying this I'm sorry...
I dropped off Miraculous a while ago, but I always felt the series was limited by the show's storytelling structure. The only proper villain is Hawkmoth, with the rest either being accomplices or akumitized villains. The villains need to be defeated with Ladybug's power, meaning all the fights end the same way and there aren't a lot of long-term ramifications due to her just undoing the damage every time. I know later events in the show have a bigger impact, but it feels like the writers spin their wheels a lot and just go over the same beats over and over again.
What exactly are the point of these comics? They don't feel like they add anything, and if it wasn't for the questionable writing decisions (namely the racial stereotyping and partial nudity), I don't think anyone would even care to look at them. If they wanted to just be inconsequential one-off stories like the filler episodes of a TV show, I think that'd be fine, but it feels like they're trying to be more ambitious while not putting in the effort to have a good pay-off. Maybe that black goo would've led to something, but the comic was cancelled, so I guess we'll never know.

Was that the comic's attempt at dramatic irony? You know, because Hawkmoth's son is Cat Noir, but Cat's a superhero instead of a villain. Usually irony like that works when the dialogue sounds natural, but here, I have no idea why Ladybug brought that up.
It would be hilarious if cat noir would become an anty hero at some point
It depends The reason he doesn’t kill his villains is because he can help them like Two Face or become he has to live up to some value.

If you want to red a good miraculous comic I recommend Scarlet Lady it’s a AU we’re Chloe gets the ladybug miraculous instead of Marinette because this time Fu put the miraculous in Marinettes bag instead of her room so Chloe steals it. Adrien is still cat noir but he hates scarlet lady because she does pull her weight and is in love with Marinette. It’s honestly better than the actual show

I hate Scarlet Lady. It’s literally just more Chloe salt but with Chloe as Ladybug. A better fic with Chloe as Ladybug is “Lady Luck” it’s on AO3.

I was generally shocked when I found out that thomas wrote the story for that beach comic and was an aurthor for the comic with the infamous scene.
It still baffles me why they thought it would be a good idea to tell the origin of the Kwamis in a comic book that barely anyone would read. Why wasn't that in the actual show?
Whereas the movie showed us how much better Miraculous could be, the comics show us how much worse it could get.
Thank you for talking about how it doesn't matter if it's fake it's fucking weird as hell to draw underage characters in scenarios like this

There are two thing that I like about these comics:
- The explanation for how the kwamis came to be
- Showing Ladybug can purify thing other than akumas and amoks
I feel like these two should've happened in the show as well, to explore the lore more. And it never made sense that there is a miraculous that's power is just to couneract other miraculouses, and you're telling me it's able to purify other things and they just never showed it?? Besides some random comic that's otherwise horribly written??? Interesting choices were made...
Oh my, comic really look like it's from devian art, it's a shame that the art is so unappealing, also for a kid show(which has bad plot), the comic is... a bit... inappropriate, u know the naked things.

The actual maker of the cartoon asked fans to make perverted fan art about his child characters.
I have an idea since season six is still awhile off. How about ranking the costumes of the Miraculous users, how good they are as a superhero uniform, how well it disguises the wearer when you take the glamor out of the equation, etc.
Remember seeing this online as a kid and thoug it was a fanart (and the other one some kinde of strange porn)
Actually seeing this make miss the times were Hawk Morph was not Gabriel (S1 just fan edits, literly changed the origin episodes on airing, later changed them) and did the mistery great, S2 hinted small to it and S3 showed him (god evolution to it)

That has left a bad taste in my mouth...
I realize that the American superheroes are likely meant to be (very poor) references to certain comic book characters, but the fact that they’re just there is annoying. Oh, the main characters need a Miraculous to be a hero, but look over here, these people have powers just because. The end of the New York special shows us a North American Miracle Box with 14 Miraculous. Why couldn't they use them instead of making the heroes a bunch of, let's face it, inferior knockoffs.
Also, do they think New York is the only U.S. city that matters? This is just like how they never go anywhere in France but Paris.
Anyway, yes, the writing is terrible, par for the course. Yet another chance to place Marinette in a cringe inducing situation that THEY find funny, while we find it sad and disturbing. Good to see that all these years haven’t changed how they feel about Americans. Soooo French!

The comic should have been good. The manga is okay so this could have been too. But unfortunately the story and lack of action coriography just let it down. Hopefully They'll bring something similar back because it does have potential

Thank you for putting a spotlight on the Action Lab comics, because this has been known in the Miraculous fandom for years but many fans defend Astruc and call it "bullying" to criticize his choices. It isn't just some questionable choices of in-ahow depictions that fueled accusations of racism but material like this.
This kinda feels like what modern comic book writers are doing already, but instead of racist jokes and weird sexual innuendos, we have sexist jokes and commentary on gender and sexuality, all while using well-known superheroes and ruining them to preach to the choir.

I think the new york comic is awful bad the special is also bad. Expecially the NightOwl hero. Many people think that she's a bad lesbian stereotype, and I agree. She sucks, and she looks like a drag cosplay of Takashi Shirogane from Voltron. For a moment I was thinking that she's coded as trans man, and this is the creator view on "toxic masculinity". But then it turned out that she was hiding that she's a women cuz people liked the orginal Owlman that retired a long time ago? What kind of logic is this? Was this an analogy to the fact that people dont like modern GenderSwap in popular media. In that case, there should be someting to hint on this. Show this as some kind of irony, maybe? Maybe show a character that's like Marinette's boomer grandpa say stuff like "So you are not a guy? I mean fine, but I kinda liked the old Owlman more.
