You assume she was more qualified to be president than another Black person, why? Simply because she is "biologically" White probably, you assume she was smarter based on that🙄 You can keep your old White supremist mentality.

      Agreed. As a woman I think there too much emphasis on white or black. While people are forgetting we are all women and getting distracted while our rights are being taken away, getting paid less and victimized like the MeToo movement. Men want to keep women there. They still see us as less than and prey. I had a single mom of 4 girls and humble beginnings. Elite people didn't care we were white to them it is poor vs. Rich. Haves vs. Havenots. I don't want to be black yet I have empathy for anyone with struggle. She can be herself, have respect for black culture and empathy to make a difference. Yet is a line crossed when you claim an opportunity from someone else less fortunate than you and an identity she is not. Smh. She needs help, self acceptance and awareness.

      Christina Schimp OK so I’m gonna bump it down why it’s not at all the same and also kind of gross. Female brains and male brain are different. I know that some people are not gonna like that I say that but it’s the truth scientifically they are different. Before and even now if you are of a certain age you have to go through certain testing to be considered trans it means that in your brain you are the gender you believe yourself to be. People don’t just have sexual reassignment surgery it can kill you. It is a birth defect they are literally living in the wrong body. To correct that is essential to their well-being.
      This woman is not trying to correct something essential she likes the mantle of being black but she’s never had to deal with the drawbacks. She would like to maintain the essence of our culture without the strength and perseverance. It is disingenuous. If she wanted to relate to the culture to raise strong independent black men to work in the culture to uplift the culture all of those things would be acceptable and congratulatory what she wants to do is put on a costume of race and feel good about it. Don’t confuse something real with something selfish

She can act black if she wants to but if she needs her privileges she can go back to being white. Black women cant just stop being black or turn white. It's an insult. It's nice that she sees the issues of the black race and praises blacks but at the same time you can and never will be black or be apart of our black narrative. Tread Knought gender and sex are two different things. No one is trying to disprove that a human’s physical biology depends if they are born with a penis or a vagina. However, it is nonsensical to center someone’s sexual organ or corporeal body to determine how they manifest in the world. The idea that because i have a penis i think and identify through x and y is completely cultural and changes within every community, every person. Not scientific!
      Gender identity can not be compared with being transracial because the same way that a persons identity does not base on their sexual organs. It does not base on skin color either. Unfortunately, we live in postcolonial world where an economy was created based on race, and because of this being Black and being White describes the experience that had developed from that trauma. But if you were in ancient Rome no one would be like oh im going to have melanin now. Vice versa with someone from lets say Benin and Togo.
      Caitlyn Jenner being a trans woman is really just her not identifying with society’s cultural view on masculinity. Rachael Dolezal saying shes Black comes from a place of deep white guilt to the point of trying to disassociate.

      you know what the real irony is, she was turned down on every job she applied to and she couldn't provide for her family, her adoptive african american children. the people that accused her of blackfishing and being racist collectively caused three young members of the african american community to be denied of the proper care they deserved and didn't even bat an eye. and these actions fueled more racism than helping the african american community I believe. there was just so much hate for the family of a woman who felt that she belonged african american community, was an activist for the same community on and off campus. she wasn't hurting anybody. the qualifications for the spot she earned in academy didn't require being black, her education was what got her there and she was trying to bring something positive to the community.

    That was a powerful question when Tamar asked her "You walk the walk of a black woman?" I have family members that resemble Rachel (the way she appears in this video today) and as a mixed race person myself who appears ambiguous, I find it interesting that while growing up in America, I was always told that because of my "one drop" of black blood that would make me black by default and that is how I should self-identify, however, I didn't walk the walk of a black woman so to say that I'm black exclusively feels like a lie, just as it would if I were to call myself a white woman, even though I am both. This is the reason why I insist on continuing to self-identify as a mixed race or biracial Hispanic woman. I feel that it's a slap in the face to black women (or black folks in general) to call yourself black when you don't look it or live the struggle. It comes across in the same way as this woman Rachel is doing, which is why she angers many black folks by living the lie that she's portraying. I can also see on the other hand why some black folks think that it's an honorable thing that she would want to take on the role of a black woman, but at the end of the day, she can change up her look whenever she decides to and "wash the black off" (and in her case, that would be literally to a certain extent) A true black person doesn't have that luxury.

    This is so fucked up. This girl is sitting next to all these black women giving her "WTF" stares after answering her question, especially Tamar, but yet, Tamar, Loni, every one of those girls is wearing a silky textured weave. Every one of those girls contour to get a slimmer nose, every one of those girls does something to change their original features to look more European. Even if it's not their intention, what do they think when they put on that silky wig and make their noses smaller? They are doing exactly what that other girl is doing, and I think that everyone only feels some type of way because Rachel can get away with it. These girls out here getting credit for looking lighter skinned, and everything like that, but when a woman wants to base her looks and actions on a black women, every black woman wants to shut her out. I think that is so horrible and hypocritical. Isn't what she's doing along the lines of being transgender? Why is it that we can't accept a woman who wants to be black, but we can accept people who were "born in the wrong body." I'm really upset at this bullshit.
    - Maybe I should hate everyone trying to be Brazilian with all that brazilian weave! I'm brazilian, do you think that that offends me? Yall not identifying as black with that silky texture, blue contacts, blonde weave !!! I'm so done with people

      White women get lip injections, butt lifs, tan their skin dark, they try to cook like black women and they also are obsessed with black men. So nobody us talking about changing features. Its about not trying to blend w the black culture simply for the opportunities it made for itself by its community. Do u not see why that's upsetting? U gotta open ur eyes to the backwards treatment. I'm an African and I was upset at this white woman who's privileges allows her to play two races when its convenient

We ALL have eyes, noses, mouths, ears, arms, legs, we are all humans, wouldn't it be ridiculous if cats or dogs acted certain ways against orange fur, or golden fur? Like that sounds stupid that you can't identify however you want to because we are ALL human, with the same basic features.

If we want to have people switching races, we gotta stop atrocities from happening to others. White people have to realize thag they do Not identify with black struggle, black people face issues that white people do not such as an ignored voice and murders. When those issues are gone and we are of equal levels, can they join us and claim our culture. U can't claim a culture if u can't claim its struggle.

    This was not the place for this... interview, I guess they're calling it? Yeah. Not the place. None of these women are journalists. Loni's a "comedian" (I guess) and that other one is a "singer" (I guess) and they neither have the training nor the discipline to properly interview someone about something so clearly personal to them. Now... if they were just trying to have this be a "Oooh, let's have Loni and Tamar put Rachel in check" segment. Fine. But don't pass this off as a deep discussion about "Race vs. State of Mind"

      +JoinNat&Nic The fact you don't understand why you need to be a journalist or at least journalism training to interview someone on broadcast television is indicative of why the media is so shoddy nowadays. You can't get to the truth of the topic being discussed or of the person being interviewed if you're to emotionally caught up in your personal opinion. It ceases being an interview and begins being a bash fest. You need to objective when presenting an issue to the masses. Let them make up their own mind. Rachel got flip with Tamar because Tamar came at her already not trying to hear her. Rachel felt defensive and then her answers stopped being even the least bit forthcoming and started being evasive to avoid any further confrontation. Nothing got resolved or answered in these five minutes. Definitely not about race vs state of mind.

Yes, Rachel has done all these things for the black community which is why so many uncle Toms--I mean black people are taking up for her. All that could have been done without turning yourself into a BW. Neither does she need to turn herself into a BW to like our culture. She can talk the talk but she truly hasn't walked the walk of a BW in today's world which is why I understand Tamar's point. You think you know our struggles simply because you put weave in your head, get spray tanned, and claimed your black brother as your son. No amount of makeup, box braids, black husbands, or charity work for the black community will ever make her a black woman. And that's pure fact. #SorryButSureAsHellNotSorry

You anger is steered in the wrong direction, blame society because anyone in America can pass of as black but they have protected their race by marginalizing people born out of an inter-racial relationship or anyone with a hint of color in their blood. She has done more for the black community than you have. So does that mean that we should discard you as a worthless black person when we are considering who has fought for our causes. If the work we do showed our worth as a race, would you be considered black?

    • @Shadowlandsdropout
      @Shadowlandsdropout 9 лет назад +19

      +Tariro Taruvinga I'm very uncomfortable with how you keep putting down fellow black commenters in this section by saying "she has done more for the black community than you". Being black is not an achievement level, it's not a level you unlock like when you're in a game. Also, there is a white man who is a NAACP chapter president like Rachel was, his name is Donald Harris, he rightly said: "She had a lot of pluses and could have achieved what she achieved without four hours at the tanning studio every week.”
      People like you need to keep making it seem as though the NAACP does not hire white people (which is a lie) and that she somehow wouldn't have been able to stand along black people as an ally (which is another lie). Also she once prohibited a student from participating in a class because she didn't look Hispanic enough, the person you so ardently defend is not a hero.

    • @Shadowlandsdropout
      @Shadowlandsdropout 9 лет назад

      +badgalriri I did not put that commenter down, I said that I felt uncomfortable with how she was making other commenters feel as though they were less than because they had not worked with an organisation that champions the cause of black people (to her knowledge). And earlier upthread, when I said that I could not understand how she has defenders, that isn't putting people down or bashing them. Disagreeing with someone is not the same thing as putting them down. I don't make personal attacks on people I disagree with, that's not me.

      jumperontheline I’m indifferent about Rachel. But I’m not offended by her like some seem to be (e.g., Tamar). As a black American, I’m offended by “slave” films that imprint my ancestors’ subservience on the consciousness of America. I don’t want to be reminded that I come from slaves - it does nothing positive for my self-esteem. Why can’t we have more films like “Hidden Figures”? It would be more productive for us to attack the film industry, but Rachel is an easy target and the film industry isn’t.

    If she wants to be black let her be black, if that what she identifies herself as, it is just like Micheal jackson wanted to be white, people feel how they want to feel, there is lots of black people in my community who want lighter skin colour so they bleach there skin because they ‘feel’ there too dark and lot of us wear hair that straight like Indian, or Chinese, Brazilian to look like white women, but we are born with kinky Afro hair... and don’t get me start on our black people who act like ‘coconuts’ And do not want to embrace there own heritage and ethnicity! To be fair the only thing she did wrong was not own up that she born white and through growing up she felt she was born in the wrong colour instead of making people believe she was black, and I feel had she done that in the first place ... the black and white community would not socially discriminate her, apart from that she has the ‘right’ to feel how she wants to feel, there is so much other identity that get discriminated against such as black men who are gays, skin tones among the black community people will say Beyoncé is more beautiful than Adut Akech because she is light skin, and this very evident in the black community and I have experienced this as a dark skin women with thick Afro hair in my own black community. So to my conclusion people just need accept people who they are no matter what background they are from.

      @@Nothingfoo90z What do you mean losing chances at scholarships???? Idk what school you go to, but I've never seen no school that grants scholarships to women JUST for being a women. Plus, if you decide to look outside your small brain, you will find a ton of studies that show that being trans isn't a choice.

    she will never truly understand what it is like to be a black woman. Tamar wanted to say something but she wanted to keep it professional. there are opportunities that rachel can get that tamar will never have so how can rachel identify herself as a black woman.

      Bruce Wayne Rachel's parents say that her ancestry is German and Czech. She certainly looks it in the photo of her aged sixteen before she permed and dyed her hair and tanned her skin.

      Bruce Wayne It was Jakeylla who said that, I didn't mention opportunity. I just said that Rachel isn't black. However, she did use her position in the NAACP to try to stop other WHITE people having the opportunity to be involved in the Black Lives Matter movement. As she was a white woman masquerading as black, I find that rather hypocritical to say the least!

    I really don't understand why people are so upset at this woman. I get that she allowed people to assume what they wanted but so what. Some blacks passed for white throughout history. this show was not interviewing her they were interrogating her. The Black race is awesome and so versatile but we have so far to go. As a race we don't accept our own people and I doubt there is another race more critical on us than we are. If you speak proper English you don't belong, if you use your manners then you are trying to be white. Our race is something to admire especially when we are not tearing ourselves or others down. Good luck Rachel. Do you maam!

      +Yennette Anderson People are mad at her not only because she lied about her race, but she also lied about an alleged crime that did not happen and could have landed an innocent person in jail. It's so crazy that people forget that and focus on Rachel's supposed love for black culture. There are a bunch of white people that love black culture just like some blacks love white culture as well. People tend to like what they cannot physically have...it's not that hard to understand. But ask yourself...throughout the years, why did some blacks identify as white? As for the interview, Rachel made it an interrogation because she tried to evade the questions. Race is a very touchy topic and Rachel did not tactfully answer those questions.

    • @Denimh20
      @Denimh20 9 лет назад

      +Chimiri88 People also tend to like what they are interested in, what the admire what they can relate to and simply what they feel like liking. You are right it's really that simple.

      The genetic makeup between individuals in different racial groups only varies by 6% and often times more variations are found within the same group compared to individuals across different racial groups.
      It is thus safe to assume that race has no biology behind it and is a made up concept which society created for social reasons.

      +Yennette Anderson Are you honestly going to act like you don't know why some black people in history attempted to pass as white? literally their life depended on it in some cases, it is not the same the other way around and never will be

  • @impasse0124

    I must say I agree with comparing her story to Bruce Jenner's. People will say that being transgender is not the same as being transracial but from all the arguments I've seen in favor of accepting transgenderism, it all boils down to how that person chooses to identify to be happy with themselves. If that's really the case, then why is it any different for her to identify as black? A biological man who identifies as a woman can no more understand the experiences of being a woman than a white woman can understand the experiences of black women. I agree that she is being quite ignorant of the black community's feelings on this issue and that she needs to accept and understand that she is white. By the same token, I believe that Bruce needs to accept and understand that he is a man.

      +impasse0124 The difference between her and Caitlyn Jenner is that gender identity has a biological basis. Wrong hormones being sent to the wrong body during the fetal growth process is believed by most scientist. Rachel is a white female. You can't enjoy the advantage of a racial group and not accept the disadvantage also. The fact is that she lied and she deceited people. That is the reason she got fired as the head of NACCP. DID YOU KNOW that she sued her so called "Howard University" for discriminating against her for being a white woman in 2002? This woman is lying out of her teeth. If a black female was "identified" as white and tried to apply for a job, would that work? I don't think so. It doesn't matter if she was helping people. All she is doing is stretching her white privilege to her limits and it just so happened that it snapped in her face.

    • @impasse0124
      @impasse0124 9 лет назад +91

      I agree that Rachel is wrong. My point was that people accept "Caitlyn" Jenner because that's how "she" chooses to identify because ultimately "she" feels at peace that way. There is no conclusive evidence about why people identify as transgender. If the major point here is identifying in whatever way makes you feel at peace with yourself, Rachel has just as much right to identify as black as Bruce does to identify as female. In both cases, I think they both need to accept and come to terms with who they really are. Bruce Jenner hasn't experienced the glass ceiling that many women experience in the workplace, nor has he experienced the frequent sexual harassment or demeaning attitude women experience from men. He doesn't know the experiences of women anymore than Rachel knows the experiences of black people.

      Think about this. When it comes to transgender you can have a female that feels male and a male that feels female. Can a dark skin black woman who's 'state of mind is white' do what this woman did? Can she live the white experience does she mysteriously come into the gift of white privilege? Only people with just the right features that can go either way get to have a different 'state of mind'. Shes stretching her privilege to the max right there
