I know that some people are not gonna like that I say that but it’s the truth scientifically they are different. Before and even now if you are of a certain age you have to go through certain testing to be considered trans it means that in your brain you are the gender you believe yourself to be. People don’t just have sexual reassignment surgery it can kill you. It is a birth defect they are literally living in the wrong body. To correct that is essential to their well-being. you know what the real irony is, she was turned down on every job she applied to and she couldn't provide for her family, her adoptive african american children. the people that accused her of blackfishing and being racist collectively caused three young members of the african american community to be denied of the proper care they deserved and didn't even bat an eye. and these actions fueled more racism than helping the african american community I believe. there was just so much hate for the family of a woman who felt that she belonged african american community, was an activist for the same community on and off campus. she wasn't hurting anybody. the qualifications for the spot she earned in academy didn't require being black, her education was what got her there and she was trying to bring something positive to the community.

That was a powerful question when Tamar asked her "You walk the walk of a black woman?" I have family members that resemble Rachel (the way she appears in this video today) and as a mixed race person myself who appears ambiguous, I find it interesting that while growing up in America, I was always told that because of my "one drop" of black blood that would make me black by default and that is how I should self-identify, however, I didn't walk the walk of a black woman so to say that I'm black exclusively feels like a lie, just as it would if I were to call myself a white woman, even though I am both. This is the reason why I insist on continuing to self-identify as a mixed race or biracial Hispanic woman. I feel that it's a slap in the face to black women (or black folks in general) to call yourself black when you don't look it or live the struggle. It comes across in the same way as this woman Rachel is doing, which is why she angers many black folks by living the lie that she's portraying. I can also see on the other hand why some black folks think that it's an honorable thing that she would want to take on the role of a black woman, but at the end of the day, she can change up her look whenever she decides to and "wash the black off" (and in her case, that would be literally to a certain extent) A true black person doesn't have that luxury.

To be fair the only thing she did wrong was not own up that she born white and through growing up she felt she was born in the wrong colour instead of making people believe she was black, and I feel had she done that in the first place ... the black and white community would not socially discriminate her, apart from that she has the ‘right’ to feel how she wants to feel, there is so much other identity that get discriminated against such as black men who are gays, skin tones among the black community people will say Beyoncé is more beautiful than Adut Akech because she is light skin, and this very evident in the black community and I have experienced this as a dark skin women with thick Afro hair in my own black community. So to my conclusion people just need accept people who they are no matter what background they are from.

People will say that being transgender is not the same as being transracial but from all the arguments I've seen in favor of accepting transgenderism, it all boils down to how that person chooses to identify to be happy with themselves. If that's really the case, then why is it any different for her to identify as black? A biological man who identifies as a woman can no more understand the experiences of being a woman than a white woman can understand the experiences of black women. I agree that Rachel is wrong. My point was that people accept "Caitlyn" Jenner because that's how "she" chooses to identify because ultimately "she" feels at peace that way. There is no conclusive evidence about why people identify as transgender. If the major point here is identifying in whatever way makes you feel at peace with yourself, Rachel has just as much right to identify as black as Bruce does to identify as female. In both cases, I think they both need to accept and come to terms with who they really are. Bruce Jenner hasn't experienced the glass ceiling that many women experience in the workplace, nor has he experienced the frequent sexual harassment or demeaning attitude women experience from men. He doesn't know the experiences of women anymore than Rachel knows the experiences of black people.

Tread Knought gender and sex are two different things. No one is trying to disprove that a human’s physical biology depends if they are born with a penis or a vagina. However, it is nonsensical to center someone’s sexual organ or corporeal body to determine how they manifest in the world. The idea that because i have a penis i think and identify through x and y is completely cultural and changes within every community, every person. Not scientific!
Gender identity can not be compared with being transracial because the same way that a persons identity does not base on their sexual organs. It does not base on skin color either. Unfortunately, we live in postcolonial world where an economy was created based on race, and because of this being Black and being White describes the experience that had developed from that trauma. But if you were in ancient Rome no one would be like oh im going to have melanin now. Vice versa with someone from lets say Benin and Togo.

you know what the real irony is, she was turned down on every job she applied to and she couldn't provide for her family, her adoptive african american children. the people that accused her of blackfishing and being racist collectively caused three young members of the african american community to be denied of the proper care they deserved and didn't even bat an eye. and these actions fueled more racism than helping the african american community I believe. there was just so much hate for the family of a woman who felt that she belonged african american community, was an activist for the same community on and off campus. she wasn't hurting anybody. the qualifications for the spot she earned in academy didn't require being black, her education was what got her there and she was trying to bring something positive to the community.

That was a powerful question when Tamar asked her "You walk the walk of a black woman?" I have family members that resemble Rachel (the way she appears in this video today) and as a mixed race person myself who appears ambiguous, I find it interesting that while growing up in America, I was always told that because of my "one drop" of black blood that would make me black by default and that is how I should self-identify, however, I didn't walk the walk of a black woman so to say that I'm black exclusively feels like a lie, just as it would if I were to call myself a white woman, even though I am both. This is the reason why I insist on continuing to self-identify as a mixed race or biracial Hispanic woman. I feel that it's a slap in the face to black women (or black folks in general) to call yourself black when you don't look it or live the struggle. It comes across in the same way as this woman Rachel is doing, which is why she angers many black folks by living the lie that she's portraying. I can also see on the other hand why some black folks think that it's an honorable thing that she would want to take on the role of a black woman, but at the end of the day, she can change up her look whenever she decides to and "wash the black off" (and in her case, that would be literally to a certain extent) A true black person doesn't have that luxury.

I really don't understand why people are so upset at this woman. I get that she allowed people to assume what they wanted but so what. Some blacks passed for white throughout history. this show was not interviewing her they were interrogating her. The Black race is awesome and so versatile but we have so far to go. As a race we don't accept our own people and I doubt there is another race more critical on us than we are. If you speak proper English you don't belong, if you use your manners then you are trying to be white. Our race is something to admire especially when we are not tearing ourselves or others down. +Yennette Anderson People are mad at her not only because she lied about her race, but she also lied about an alleged crime that did not happen and could have landed an innocent person in jail. It's so crazy that people forget that and focus on Rachel's supposed love for black culture. There are a bunch of white people that love black culture just like some blacks love white culture as well. People tend to like what they cannot physically have...it's not that hard to understand. But ask yourself...throughout the years, why did some blacks identify as white? As for the interview, Rachel made it an interrogation because she tried to evade the questions. Race is a very touchy topic and Rachel did not tactfully answer those questions.

The genetic makeup between individuals in different racial groups only varies by 6% and often times more variations are found within the same group compared to individuals across different racial groups.
It is thus safe to assume that race has no biology behind it and is a made up concept which society created for social reasons.

I must say I agree with comparing her story to Bruce Jenner's. People will say that being transgender is not the same as being transracial but from all the arguments I've seen in favor of accepting transgenderism, it all boils down to how that person chooses to identify to be happy with themselves. If that's really the case, then why is it any different for her to identify as black? A biological man who identifies as a woman can no more understand the experiences of being a woman than a white woman can understand the experiences of black women. I agree that she is being quite ignorant of the black community's feelings on this issue and that she needs to accept and understand that she is white. By the same token, I believe that Bruce needs to accept and understand that he is a man.

Wrong hormones being sent to the wrong body during the fetal growth process is believed by most scientist. Rachel is a white female. You can't enjoy the advantage of a racial group and not accept the disadvantage also. The fact is that she lied and she deceited people. That is the reason she got fired as the head of NACCP. DID YOU KNOW that she sued her so called "Howard University" for discriminating against her for being a white woman in 2002? This woman is lying out of her teeth. If a black female was "identified" as white and tried to apply for a job, would that work? I don't think so. It doesn't matter if she was helping people. All she is doing is stretching her white privilege to her limits and it just so happened that it snapped in her face.
I agree that Rachel is wrong. My point was that people accept "Caitlyn" Jenner because that's how "she" chooses to identify because ultimately "she" feels at peace that way. There is no conclusive evidence about why people identify as transgender. If the major point here is identifying in whatever way makes you feel at peace with yourself, Rachel has just as much right to identify as black as Bruce does to identify as female. In both cases, I think they both need to accept and come to terms with who they really are. Bruce Jenner hasn't experienced the glass ceiling that many women experience in the workplace, nor has he experienced the frequent sexual harassment or demeaning attitude women experience from men. He doesn't know the experiences of women anymore than Rachel knows the experiences of black people.

Think about this. When it comes to transgender you can have a female that feels male and a male that feels female. Can a dark skin black woman who's 'state of mind is white' do what this woman did? Can she live the white experience does she mysteriously come into the gift of white privilege? Only people with just the right features that can go either way get to have a different 'state of mind'. Shes stretching her privilege to the max right there
